It's strange how Ian mentioned that there'd be no way to display all the controls without some intrusive GUI, but in NCAA 11, they easily solved that issue by making it so the user can hide it with one button press. If they need it, it's there. If not, it's not. Pretty simple. I hate the strat pad and also hate that I'll have to use it for the first few weeks until this gets update.

Re: Madden NFL 11 Blog: GameFlow and The Strategy Pad
Thanks for the post Phil and the blog Ian.
It seems like nearly every improvment to the game is based off data from online consoles. So only online gamers are shaping Madden?Comment

Very happy they are allowing the option to put it back the way it was. The pre-play controls were never broken, EA just wants to make it easy for the dumb "first time" madden player who has no idea what he is doing. The hot route system that has been around for years is great, quick, and easy. Why make a complete overhaul on a system that is effiecient? With the new strategy pad it take double the time, and with the addition of accelerated clock in these last few years, there is now less time to make pre-play adjustments. Glad they are keeping the old way. I hope they scrap the "strategy pad" for Madden 12.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 11 Blog: GameFlow and The Strategy Pad
so on a side note...
when using the new strategy pad I still don't know how to:
1. double a WR
2. assign a blitz to a defender
3. take a route and turn it into a smart route ( a route that takes me beyond a 1st down marker)
any help would be great?
thanksBummed that you're not on my ignore list yet?.....Don't worry, I'm sure you will be very soon.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 11 Blog: GameFlow and The Strategy Pad
Saw this comment and have seen similar comments before. More than 80% of Madden gamers have a console that's connected to Xbox Live based on our numbers. Our telemetry comes from any game that is played on an internet connected console. Not just from 'online games'. We get lots of useful data.

Re: Strategy Pad Update
It sounds like what they actually needed to do besides this bizarre and overthought way of solving things was either require two presses of A to make defensive adjustments (sort of an initiate - confirm kind of deal), making B the way to exit the pre-snap menu, or both...
Then again, a great many problems would be solved by allowing custom controller configurations.Last edited by St. Chaos; 07-30-2010, 05:42 PM.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 11 Blog: GameFlow and The Strategy Pad
I agree with this statement. I've been one of the pretty upset ones about this whole Strategy Pad thing. It's good to see that they took into account what their consumers had to say about their product.
Good Job, EA. Props for this one.((cuff))*bankhead bounce*((cuff))Comment
