I belive you will have both options. At least I hope so because I am one of those people that actually likes the strategy pad

The Strat Pad is not awful. I would get used to it. But it is nice to have the option for the way it has always been. I believe the patch will come after or during week one of the NFL season.
As far as auto sprint. I have no issues with it. It works and feels smooth and natural and adds a sim element to the game IMO.Comment

Good fun demo, gameflow is nice especially for newbies and casual play. One niggle I have however with the demo is the play of the game at the end was me taking a knee....seriously?? lol
They have to code it to NEVER make the POTG the QB kneel.Comment

I got around to playing the demo for Madden 11. I did not like pushing the extra buttons on the to get into the strat pad to make adjustments. I think this is a complete waste of time. Yes I know I can get use to it, but they should have left the option to have it the old way. The meter for kick offs, fields goals, and punts are too easy. I liked the old style.
I did not play the gameflow style. It seems to me this option is for new people to the game and for causal gamers who do not want to go through the trouble of picking plays.
It seems they targeting the game towards the casual gamer, but by doing that they might start to alienate the hardcore gamers who play this game the most. I may be canceling my pre-order this year and wait to see how people like the game first.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here
Yeah I agree with that. For my online franchise I will call all my own plays. But for my offline dynasty I will fool around with it to see if it can work for me on offense in combination with the full playbook. Defense I always will call my own plays regardless. And for a quick pick up game with some of my buddies who are not hardcore football gamers it is a nice change of pace to have a easy relaxed game.
The one thing Madden has always done for the most part is make the game is fun, and I think sometimes that get's lost on a lot of us hardcore simmers (I am a sim player at heart). When i play with friends who don't have the same skill set I actually have had some very cool and fun shootouts. It has always been a great 2 player game.
The more and more I read the impressions page the more excited I am gettting. I knew this demo was probably a 75% build on the game. No way this would be the final product. I think the real verdict will come over the next 2-3 weeks.Comment

True, it would be nice if they had a multiplayer demo showing off the new team play feature, I think that would bring a huge crowd to the game since that's the direction the majority of games are all heading or are already at.Yeah I agree with that. Not complaining but there are always a slew of newcomers each and every year to sports games and EA is smart for catering to them too.Comment

I've been playing the demo the past few days and in conjuction with the impressions from early adopters of the game, I think this will be a good game of football.
Team: Jets
Difficulty: All-Madden
Gameflow: off
Game speed: Normal
Clock Acc: off
I've been going at it with the Colts with back and forth results. I've beat them and they've beat me but as I get used to the new control schemes (and new controller as I'm used to playing on Xbox) I've been able to get some pretty good results against the Colts. The strategy pad is just not, if not more efficient than the previous control scheme and is definitly more intuitive for newcomers. I'm obviously running the ball more than I pass it and the game does give the player more control over the runner than any previous Madden title. On the passing game, receivers get more realistic separation from DBs even when Sanchez overthrows quite often (frustrating).
On defense I've been able to play cat and mouse with the CPU controled Peyton Manning. I allow Madden to give me an option of 3 plays and choose the best one for the situation. I've been able to sack and intercept Peyton on a game to game basis without fiddling with controlling anyone on defense so it's more of a chess match by use of the strategy pad (it's how I play Madden). Play-action passing is still a pain unless it's a roll out play it seems which is dissapointing considering the fact how often teams run play action straight drops. I really wish Madden would adopt the defense camera from NCAA 11 that actually made controlling a defensive player fun.
Based soley on the demo I wouldn't purchase Madden 11. From the impressions from the owners thread I think I'm back on the fence.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here
Well people who own the retail version say that it is nothing like the demo. Its much much better which is great to hear.
One cool thing I saw was, I was kicking a 50+ yard FG with the Jets and Dwight Freeny came in and blocked it. I was pissed at first, but then I said to my self "that was pretty cool!" LOL
But I or the CPU never even come close to blocking PATs but when the kick is farther, you have to put less air under the ball which makes it easier to block....just like in the NFL.Comment

i gotta say the more i play the demo the more i like it. the receiving animations really make a difference, now that the receivers actually respect the sidelines you can make some really impressive throws not possible before , more importantly you can throw to the corner of the endzone and have your reciever look back stop turn around and jump for the ball while staying in bounds!Comment

Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here
Ive played about 20 games of the demo now. I hated the Strat pad and its still stupid and worse then old way but I can deal with it. Only one thing that bugs me about this game and will be why I don't buy it and thats the poor pass coverege.
I am selling my NCAA Football 11 unless next patch fixes the man coverege and how the DBs run the Wrs route ahead of the WR and run the route better.
In Madden Im noticing how bad man to man is and nothing has been changed from last year to this year. On all pro Im throwing around 90% no problems.
Im so confused on how this is so hard to get right. If you have to mirror the reciever like NCAA thats fine but dont let the DB run ahead of the WR.Comment

Passing feels better, running feels about the same. Defense is still under appreciated and the AI is exactly the same. Compared to what NCAA did this year Madden 11 will be another flop.Caution: Whiskey, weed and Warren Zevon before writing.Comment
