    Love this series but...

First off, I've been a yearly customer of this game ever since the 2002 version. Ten straight years of playing this game and wearing the cover off of it. IMO, the 09 version on the PS3/360 was the best game we have seen in this series. But this year, EA took a huge step back with this game.

Believe the fumble stories. They are awful. No matter if I hit R1 or not, my RB still coughs it up at least twice a game. Two fumbles a game when he averages like 17 carries or so. I play as Illinois and my starting RB Mikel LeShoure was out for a month. In his first game back (he was 100% too by the way), he had FIVE fumbles in the game with under 20 carries. Absolutely ridiculous. Scoop and scores happen way too frequently, as well. Usually when you fumble, there's just a pile on top of the football. Not in this game. One of my friends quit playing the game when he had a sequence where he threw a pick, then forced a fumble on the INT return, then proceeded to fumble again, all on the same play. It's extremely maddening, to say the least.

That's the major problem, but there's still several other pretty glaring issues. Lack of pass interference, being bumped off your route (as the throw is being made), and of course, the dropped passes by both the WR's and the DB's is excruciating. I lost my last game to Michigan 31-24 (where I had 7 turnovers, including 4 fumbles) on a dropped pass in the end zone as time expired. Really? I also love it how I can stop offenses that don't run the hurry-up, very easily, but when I'm facing an offense that runs it exclusively, I'm in trouble from the get go.

People can defend this game all they want, but this is the worst copy EA has put out by far. Hopefully the patch fixes some of these awful issues, but I'm not optimistic. Sorry for my rant, once again.

Well, I have played many games of this, and I have not seen excessive fumbles. In fact I have not seen enough fumbles even.

So obviously you are doing something that I am not.

Just out of curiosity, what sliders are you playing with and on what level? I know fumbles can't be adjusted with sliders, but you might be surprised at how many things can.

I think player's fumble at a fairly realistic rate. I've had games where I haven't fumbled at all and I've had games where I fumbled up to 3 times (only one though). Same for the computer. But, that happens in real life as well so, I don't see the problem.

All the problems you listed have been issuse for years. I have bought this game every year since 98. The fumbles have always been issue. I for one have not had any problems this year. Through 3 season with Georgia my backs have not fumbled 5 times all year. I use the cover up and I only get what I can. I don't try and break every run. The only time I see fumbles are when I 1) try and break off a huge run or 2) running with my QB. As for the pass interferance I have had a few called with the silder set at 100 but I have never seen a ton of pass interferance calls since playing on the new systems.
As for saying 09 was the best on the ps3/360, I have to disagree. I think 10 was better then 09 and NCAA11 will be even better once they fix the recruit isssue. In 09 robo qb was as bad as it has ever been and you could not get any sacks until a patch came out. Even after the patch came out they were few sacks still. In 10 robo qb could be stoped with the right sliders and sacks seemed to happen.

P.S. I'm using Playmakers sliders and have not seen the fumbles so may try a different slider set.
Relax, it's just a video game!

jeremym480 - I agree, I've played about 35 games and if anything I've not seen enough fumbles. I do agree that there are too many scoop and scores though. I think the fumble issue that people are having is coming from trying to do special moves (like a spin move) when you're stood up to break tackles. That's my guess anyways. I have seen more fumbles when I do that.

I think, and this is just my opinion, that NCAA 11 is clearly the best ever in the series and it's not even close. I can't see anyone liking 09' better than 10 either. 09 was pretty boring IMO.

Try some sliders from the slider section. Also ODogg hit the nail on the head. If you try and make moves will stood up then you will see more fumbles. Just get what you can then go down.

I play on all american with default, I don't think I'm having as many serious problems as you. The fumbles and defense are completely fine for me. Not saying that you in fact do, but in case you do, DON'T overlook defensive gameplanning. It's just as important as offense. I at least look at averages, ranks, and style for a team before playing them.

I can agree on the pass interference. And I've had a few dropped passes, but then again, I'm a Seattle Seahawks fan, so maybe I'm used to it .

And as always, finding the right difficulty/slider combo can make all the difference.

In regards to the pass interference you should have your slider for that set to 100.

I love that the threat to fumble is very real this year and I fumbled a decent amount (AA, default sliders) when I first started playing the game, I don't as much any more. I find that as the defender gets close to me, I either push the R-stick up and away from the defender so my player covers the ball with 2 hands and turns his back slightly to the defender. I also hold the R1 button to cover up the ball. I don't try to juke defenders if there's another one near me that will make the tackle if I make the other guy miss. I want to control how I get tackled and I think that's why I don't fumble much. I mostly fuble when getting hit hard on a PR or when I'm running up the middle and there's a lot of defenders around and I can't get on the R1 button soon enough.

The only time I ever really see too many fumbles is when the computer is returning kickoffs, other than that they haven't been an issue.

This is by far the BEST of the series and it's not even close as ODogg said.

I think that the fumbles are realistic, I just feel that they need to penalize the defenders acceleration and speed as they are trying to get a fumble -- or better yet, program them to simply fall on the ball more instead of grabbing the ball at full stride.

As it stands, the computer can easily grab a fumble at full speed and run for a TD without much interference which get's annoying (unless I get the score, heh)

The OP can have an opinion, but to call this version of NCAA one of the worst implies ignorance to the progress that EA made this year.

My only issue with fumbling has been when I scramble with my QB...almost an automatic fumble. I stopped doing it. No issues with my RB's though.

Of all the issues I've heard discussed about the game (broken dynasty, over-blitzing D's, mindreading CBs, etc.), the excessive fumbling is probably the "issue" I've experienced the least. I never see more than 2-3 fumbles a game, and they are usually all or mostly on the CPU. I protect the ball any and every time I'm about to get hit, and that almost always seems to keep the ball in my possession. I've played tons of games on Heisman and All-American with all kinds of slider settings, and this has always been the case.

As I said in an earlier thread on the issue, the only problem may be that the CPU fumbles more than I do, but it's usually only the low ranked teams and even then it's not enough to be a concern in my view.
