Re: NBA 2K11 Developer Insights: Enhanced Control
Btw Da_Czar, Mike Wang and the 2K team have seen it:
I'm wondering if 2K11 will finally include a simple animation of offball defenders 'putting a hand on the man he is guarding' especially within 15 feet? This occurs all the time in the NBA.
This will prevent cheap backdoor cuts/lead pass as well as providing some resistance when players try and cut to the rim.
First basketball video game to implement this animation will go a long way in the Sim department.
Also the lead pass needs to be toned down. Currently it is too fast and accurate. Needs to be fixed in two ways.
1. Lead pass is slow but accurate.
2. Lead pass is fast but not as accurate(have to gather to catch the ball).
For more info on this: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...realistic.html
Also the ultimate Sim wishlist. I posted this also on 2K Sports forums and also PM'd it to SimBaller here on OperationSports. He hasn't replied to me yet.
http://www.operationsports.com/forum...shlist-54.html Post #539 and 540.Beluba, could you please provide an answer or is it too early to discuss gameplay? Perhaps could you mention at least that you guys are tweaking on lead pass/passing in general and adding a simple animation of 'offball defenders putting a hand' on their man?
Would be much appreciated especially within this Sim community.Unless they mention it in the developer insights.

Nah they are not that shiny as how 2K has made them the last few years.
These are how they should look. 2K's version the red is still a bit off and it's too shiny, but that's a different discussion and I'm not too worried about it, it just stood out to me so I pointed it out earlier. Miami is another team in real life that has shiny jersey there black one.Comment

Is it true this year we will have full control of dribbling (like NBA Live) in 2K11? gone are the animations during crossovers and size up moves that we get stuck in and end up forcing up a shot that was not my choice?
Also with new foot-planting and also weight/momentum, will we be done with those terrible animations that force up a hook shot into the back of the backboard when performing a back to the basket move on the baseline, when clearly the offensive player should be going straight up for a nice hook or a powerful drop step layup (this particular problem happens when I use dwight howard) without being pushed off the block or worse out of bounds by a single defender (this was done by serveral times by ron artest, who is a good defender, but too small vs superman).
Im all about D in these games I wanna lock down my opposing player and found this difficult because players were able to run around me at the same speed as running the length of the floor, surely there must be a way of stopping this beyond giving up room to a player ( i.e kobe, lebron, dwade) who i want to force them to make jumpers, not just run past my defender over and over.
Which brings me to help defense, which was non existent in 2k10, it was either too late, or not even thought of, which comes back to smarter A.I, on dribble drives, or coming off screens, even pick and roll situations I want to see a player step up and cover the gaps or come to a beaten defenders aid.
Lastly I want to see more realistic moves especially on the fastbreak, crossovers are too slow, quick and accurate jumpstops, or even the euro-step (similar to NBA Live) are missing, I played Live 10 after about 3 months of 2K10, and the quick, strong moves to the basket impressed me alot, i'd love to see this in 2k11 especially with a lebron james or a tyreke evans slashing to the hoop.
Alot of my quotes have been addressed in this thread already but i'm justing letting all those who have posted their thoughts and that i'm feeling what they are saying, just hoping the game developers do too.Comment

Re: NBA 2K11 Developer Insights: Enhanced Control
We're going to get very good gameplay this year, and that's the most important thing.
But we may not get an Insight this week...Last edited by youvalss; 08-05-2010, 06:35 PM.My Specs:

I have tested this many times and it works. Moving the shot stick away from the basket doesn't always mean moving it down, you move it relative to the basket. Remember, the key is to not use turbo in the paint or else contact in the paint will be initiated.
I made a thread about this: http://www.operationsports.com/vBull...aint-2k10.html
I don't know if this is a glitch and whether 2K will fix it for 2K11. The only downside to this is you don't get fouled as much.Comment

Re: NBA 2K11 Developer Insights: Enhanced Control
he didn't specify, all he said was like yesterday he posted that they will do several prsentation insights to cover everything. He didn't allude to this one being presentation, though someone did ask him direct, thats the response he got. Who knows.Comment
