Re: Old Madden Ratings Site Reborn Under New Management
Another point you will have to remember is that injuries do affect the OVR rating. 90s are to be rare and 80s are to be solid starters that can win you games. Celek has not been a top 10 TE in either of the last 3 seasons according to PFF...the best was last year at 16th. Cole is still on the upswing and Rocca has the tools, but lacks some consistency. Since Madden rates on potential, we can't ignore his leg strength. Sims is rated as he is because of his awesome athleticism, which is part of how Madden rates players. Weaver may be versatile, but that doesn't count for much in Madden since you have to move him around. As a pure FB, where blocking counts too, he is about right where he should be. I am aware of Avant's talents...not the fastest guy, but great hands. NO drops last season I believe. Mikell was great in 08, but he isn't the most athletic, which hurts him.
Once again, if Madden would differentiate between Athleticism and technique/skill then some of these guys would be higher/lower. But since the attributes like SPD, ACC, STR, AGI, and JMP are included in the OVR rating, they are taken into account when calculating the OVR. I will not do what that guys at EA do and simply increase a player's speed, accel, etc...when he is playing at a high level. I think that is misinterpretation. Instead, they should up the skills that MAKE a player elite and not overcompensate by simply making them more athletic.
I agree he's not a very atheletic guy and that does hurt his overall ratings. I looked at EA's rating and they gave him 85 speed and then I saw your rating and he has 80 speed....
I use a similiar speed chart to re-rate the players in NCAA Football and Mikell was closer to 78 speed for me but I gave him the additional boost up to make him 80 like you have him because it helped his overall on my roster file.
Another guy that i had to kinda avoid his combine #'s was Desean Jackson.....now I don't agree with EA's ratings on him either but then when i looked at your ratings the one thing that jumped out at me was his agility being only 86
I had to actually give him a 94 in agility and 93 speed because the game has tendency ratings that label a player and Jackson was listed as a possession WR with the low physical attributes of 86 agility and I think you had him like 87 acceleration.
So his speed I agree with we are only 1 point off but I just didn't like the fact that he was labled as a possession type WR do to his agility and acceleration being so low. The only other way around it would be to lower his catch ratings into the mid 70's then the game would consider him a speed guy again even with his agility and acceleration being in the high 80's
So i guess my question is do you try to keep a guy labled with a certain tendency or do you ignore the tendencies all together?
Like for example Carson Palmer I think he's more of pocket QB and that is how Madden assigns his tendency in the game but with 70+ speed, acceleration and agility Palmer would be borderline categorized as a scrambler type the only thing that pushes him back into the balanced QB tendency logic is his passing Ratings.....but if he had terrible accuarcy the game would list him as a scrambler instead of pocket QB or balanced QB
Not sure if any of that stuff concerns you just wanted to know if you try to stay within a guys actual tendency category or not because sometimes the ratings trigger a guy to play different from his actual style depending on how you lable him by tendencies.Last edited by Playmakers; 08-06-2010, 06:41 AM.NCAA FOOTBALL 14 ALUMNI LEGENDS CPU vs CPU DYNASTY THREAD

Re: Old Madden Ratings Site Reborn Under New Management
I love this debate about Mikell....
I agree he's not a very atheletic guy and that does hurt his overall ratings. I looked at EA's rating and they gave him 85 speed and then I saw your rating and he has 80 speed....

Desean Jackson:
FBG 2010 (current):
STR 51
AGI 86
SPD 92
ACC 87
JMP 77
FBG 2004-dependent on position (old):
STR 35
AGI 90
SPD 94
ACC 86
JMP 75
So you can see there is a difference. With the second method though, a CB with the same 40 time would have 95 SPD, a QB would have 88 SPD, a RB would have 94 SPD, and TE would have 86 SPD. So it would vary by position.Dan B.

Re: Old Madden Ratings Site Reborn Under New Management
Yes I did start those up. QBs, RBs, and FBs are mostly done with some of the peripheral attributes. I still have to fill in the core attributes for RBs and FBs, but should get to those tonight.Dan B.

Re: Old Madden Ratings Site Reborn Under New Management
Are you still aiming to have those set by October??? I'm hoping that is the case hopefully a roster file to download but if not at least I could just edit everyone myself based off your data.Provided by yours truly

Rosters will most likely be for next year...not this year. You will have to edit rosters on your own this year.Dan B.

Re: Old Madden Ratings Site Reborn Under New Management
I've made some changes to the speed burners on the field liek i mentioned before with Jackson. But most of the ratings are pretty spot on that you have done.
One thing I love about this formula is that in NCAA Football 11 the overall ratings drop quite a bit which is great. You can now really see the difference between speed guys at WR and RB. I've seen the best seperation in years in that area on the field during gameplay.
I've yet to see any of the created WR's on my file with 90+ speed get caught by a slow safety or LB from behind.NCAA FOOTBALL 14 ALUMNI LEGENDS CPU vs CPU DYNASTY THREAD

Re: Old Madden Ratings Site Reborn Under New Management
Can we use these in franchise mode? I figure that the new draft picks coming in would screw up all the ratings.Comment
