Even the strategy pad which is great on offense is clunky to use on defense. None of my receivers one handed any of their catches but they were WIDE open so much of the time that I suppose it wasn't neccessary (I did see some one handers on the Colts though). When Braylon catches two wide open plays for over 70 yrds each, you know somethings amiss.
What level, All-Pro or All-Madden? Have you tried adjusting CPU sliders? or Threshold?

I've been playing the demo on All-Madden on normal speed, no accelerated clock, conventional play calling and manual sprint.

only legitimate complaint i have is that on all madden the cpu is about impossible to tackle.. i would adjust the sliders but then i feel like im cheating or something haha. I think the retail will be fun ill just have to set the difficulty somewhere between all pro and all madden.

This video reveals just too much truth about the game. My only response to this is that Madden is an arcade football game that is meant to be thought of and played as an arcade game. Period. And that's how the demo plays...a decent game of arcade football. Not spectacular, but with the edition of Gus Johnson and all the rookies, that's all the game needs to sell. I hope the retail version is better looking than the demo.

With that said, I do enjoy the sensation of being tackled and fighting through (single) tackles this year. I don't think I've had to fight through a gang tackle, the CPU doesn't simulate gang tackles (as the video demonstrated).

only played about 6 games, but have enough time in to give my opinion i think. first, the db/wr interaction is much improved. revis and wayne went at it like two all pros should. revis moved him off of his pattern and wayne swim moved a few times and was able to get a step on him. definetly impressed with that. defensive line players seemed to play like counterparts do in real life. freeney mixed it up with spins and bull rushes, also trying to speed around end. you could definetly see difference in manning and sanchez. manning looked good, dropping balls over lbs and in front of the safety. sanchez didnt have such luck. the running game felt smooth and i could feel locomotion effects. especially on D. come in to fast and addai cuts it back and your done. wouldve liked to see more cpu subs of rbs as tomlinson only seen 3rd down action. and didnt see much of donald brown when i was playin with jets. hopefully sub settings will fix that, as i cant wait til i see true 2 back systems. gameflow seems to really have some potential. sometimes i wasnt happy with play called, but you can always audible out. lots of situations where i think they can build off of. strategy pad could be good, but it really takes time to get used to. it does however, prevent calling 4 hot routes and sliding protections and audibling all before you get to line of scrimmage. so it has a real feel, just takes time to find right buttons. hopefully in madden 12 they will bring us a true offline franchise and i think this game can really get back some fans that are thinking about leaving. overall i think its definetly worth renting and maybe even purchasing. i wouldnt pass it up just because im upset with EA. it really has potential. also, sideline catches look amazing. good job EA, and with right sliders and maybe a patch for the bugs that we are sure to see, and we could have a great game of football. ncaa is going to be tough to put down though!!!

I have to be honest. I just can't stand the way it looks or feels. NCAA 11 is a good college game but Madden NFL 11 doesn't do it for me. I was hoping but....... Maybe EA can just start from scratch and get a new engine. The tackling looks really weird and kinda awkward. The game play is still kinda loose when it comes to controlling the ball carrier.

Way too easy to pass but I guess that can be fixed with sliders but then, you will have the CPU doing cheesy stuff to knock the ball down or intercept it.

Gameflow is awesome. The ability to put together a game plan before a game and then follow it is as close to realistic as you can get. Best idea the Madden crew has had in years. Locomotion seems to be working well also.

The last thing I will comment on is the presentation: Holy crap. They have the ESPN license and they aren't doing s**t with it. The halftime show is not a show. It's random highlights with no commentary. Lazy IMO. No post game show either. If the weekly show in franchise mode is still the same as Madden 10, I am shaking my head on that one. With all of the storage space they have on blu-ray discs, you would think they could make a complete football game with the proper physics and presentation so we can all just play a great game and be done with the argument about which game is the best.

OR........the NFL can stop granting exclusive licenses when it comes to video games and they will see that competition breeds innovation, new ideas, new technology....an overall better product. I am no Madden ***** by any stretch. I have played Madden since the first one on Sega Genesis. I just seems to me that they have been stuck in mediocrity since the PS3 and XBOX 360 were released. And, in all fairness, if they are the only game in town, they have to be able to handle the immense criticism because customers don't have another product they can turn to if this one lets them down. In the past, Madden, 2K Football, NFL Fever, NFL Gameday, etc. didn't receive a lot of criticism because there was competition and customer's had a choice. With no choice comes frustration, stagnation and lack of innovation. I am not blaming EA or the Madden franchise. They are a victim of the decision the NFL has made and I have to admit, they have a tremendous responsibility on their shoulders. It's not easy being responsible for the only NFL licensed video game out there. But, EA has to try even harder or the NFL has to grant multiple licenses to insure they continue to have a quality video game representation of the NFL.

              Thank you.
Amen Brother, agree 100% To me next-gen has been a big dissapointment. Ever since the exclusive deal we haven't seen true innovation or a big leap forward other than looks. To people that say the exclusive deal did nothing I beg to differ, what if Shell had signed an exclusive contract to be only company to sell Gasoline they could name their price and what could you do, you need Gasoline so you would have to pay whatever they demanded. True, you don't have to purchase the game but I love the NFL and VideoGames. So what other choice do I have. I own a Air Conditioning Company imagine if I had a exclusive license to sell Air Conditioners .

I tried playing the demo for a full game, and it was putting me to sleep....

I know people who have the game early are saying retail's much better, but I gotta be honest-------for some who don't know this,(Maybe the few who don't even have internet), and are judging their buying decision off the demo alone, it's a bad first impression.

The sound is awful. Too much dead air, where a stadium full of thousands of fans sounds like an empty arena. Gus cuts out periodically, leaving only Collinsworth to comment, and he sounds like his mike just got turned back on. Example:Gus says "He's going thru his progressions", I get sacked, then dead air, and long after the play's over, in chimes Chris: "And that's why you send all those guys. That was a great defensive call"...What about during the play itself!?

The game looks pretty, but alot of twitchy and unnatural-looking movements keep happening.

I dunno, I'm not impressed with the demo at all. I seem to remember other games' demos were close to final builds, but Madden seems to be pre-Beta ones.On the other hand, I couldn't stop playing NCAA's demo, and bought that game on release day. I never bought NCAA before, but see, the demo reached out and grabbed me and said "Ya gotta get this game!!!!" Madden's was like "Meh, you've been here before, son".....lol

If they're really trying to "cater to the casual crowd", they should rethink their demo strategy.

P.s.----as far as I know, Red Dead Redemption didn't even have a demo, yet it's still regarded as one of the best games so far. Marketing, word of mouth, and an overall great product will sell itself......

I had an amazing time with this demo. Won as the jets by 2 points.
                    Great Swatting animations from corners.
Great catching animations to keep feet inbounds (and not just the one where the guy falls by keeping them inbounds)
Amazing to see qbs Over and Under throw receivers.

Cant wait. For the real thing. You really DO have to play it to feel the difference.

If your in competition with other companies offering the same service, and your service sucks your not going to be in business for very long because they will go with the other company that provides superior service (Business 101).

Back on topic, the gameplay feels better than previous installments but what-about everything else (incorporating Head Coach 09's Features). With the slow pace of things it just feels like maybe by 2015 we might have the ultimate football game.

Not quite sure whether I like the new game flow or not... thankfully though they left the option to call our own plays so it wont be a gamebreaker if it turns out buggy (like anything involving EA AI usually does). The gameplay feels pretty good... liked the presentation too.

May end up renting before I buy though since they didnt touch franchise mode (which is all I really play).. I just hope they atleast fixed the bugs with it from last year...

I just played the demo for the first time, and I'm not spending my money on this.

The commentary was worse than anything I've ever heard in a game, it was totally disjointed, late, and just overall terrible. I know it's "better" in the full game, but the videos I've seen don't make it sound amazingly better.

Locomotion is obvious, so that's a plus.

But graphically, while the game looks nice, I can't get over how freakin huge the ball is. It's way bigger than everyone's head! Ridiculous. It just sticks out like a sore thumb.

Not really a fan of gameflow, since I'm not picking my play, I have to do a check at the line to see what play it is, but by the time I do, the computer has snapped the ball.

Nothing in this game makes me say, "I want to buy this."

Just my opinion, and I hope Madden 12 actually delivers.
