Re: NBA Elite 11 Videos: 3 Quick Clips

Is there going to be any room/time for improvement based on demo feedback or will the game pretty much be done by that time?

That's a really good question, and I was expecting someone to ask that eventually.

I don't know if the demo will be cut from the final code or sometime before final.

Regardless though, I'd say that the core gameplay experience will be pretty much the same between the demo and the final release.

Things like the influence of ratings, how easy it is to hit a shot for each difficulty level, some minor bugs...they will likely be tuned right until the very end.

I'm actually hoping we can use data gathered from the demo to help do that final tuning.

But the core will be unchanged for the most part.

So no excuses from me once the demo drops. If you like the demo you'll like the game. If you hate the demo...well hopefully you don't hate the demo

There is always the possibility of a patch, and there may be opportunities to do some meaty changes in the patch, but the fundamental gameplay experience will be the same.

      Hopefully that answers your question.

Well I hope the trend of early Sept is kept up this year because that's been EA's way of doing things these past few years.

And if you could talk to the guys releasing the demo about giving us a full game instead of 2 qtrs that would be great haha

The game was slowed down considerably last week I believe. The player differentiation and ratings are being added to the game right now.

Some ratings are in, some ratings still have to be added.

As I said in an earlier post, the ratings that influence in air collisions on dunks were added today, and there should be a video released on Monday showing off the results.

Also did the graphics of the basketball court look more clearer and better and did u guys remove those cheap fouls in the game?? Another problem I had in the video that was posted was that Robin Lopez made a layup without even looking at the basket...was that issue fixed?? Thanks

I am not buying into the hype. If these devs want to show clips dont the show flawed ones. How can the Artest-Wallace clip be a demonstration of real physics when Artest's dunk animation was not affected? The only animation that changed was Wallace as he animated around the actual play. Artest kept plowing forward as if he was never touched. Silly dev doesnt realize that is not true physics and they should go back tot he lab and work on thier collision engine. Artest dunk animation should have adjusted when contacted, and Wallace should not have floated backwards when contacted in the air. There should have been an in air collision, and the player with the most momentum depending on weight on speed of movement should win. Allowing Artest to continue to amimate forward with his dunk is the same garbage that 2K basketball patched last year. Plus, why did the blocked layup look so cheap and scripted. Any ball player knows that you are taught to use the backboard in the instance. It appears he just through it up to the rim to get blocked. Not realistic at all devs.

Re: NBA Elite 11 Videos: 3 Quick Clips

While I wouldn't be as harsh as the above post, it does get somewhat close to what I have been saying here over the last couple months.

I think we were all expecting Backbreaker type physics and procedural animations when the word physics was used by EA.

I guess it's only half true but the demo will be the big test.

If the physics are good then EA can build off that, perhaps with a new graphics engine and so forth. If they are some fake tacked on thing, then Elite will have flopped before it even got out of the starting blocks.

Hello i like the way the things go so far with Nba elite 11 but i have a question about dunking because you see not so many dunks in nba live 10 its always the same are there going to be a lot more dunks layups in the game reanimator??

Like for instance the dunkpackage alone for dwayne wade of for lebron or kobe things like that and not to get alone the other dunks because it is to repetive in the game.

                      Thanks

I enjoyed Live more than I did 2K last season. However, it wasn't a game without faults. I'm excited to see what improvements they've made. Good vids.

It should be possible to do a really slow and bad behind the back dribble with a big man if you move the right stick slowly, but it should also be easy to steal on the defensive end. If I were to try to move the right stick quickly like when I am in control of a perimeter player, then I would be fine with losing the ball.
Here's and example with Kendrick Perkins-

Don't get me wrong, though. I don't want to go up and down the court performing advanced dribble moves with big men.
Yeah and if you notice by that bad choice of video Perkins dribble behind his back did cause him to have to pick up his dribble and pass to avoid the travel. I think the problem you see in the Bynum vid is he loses it completely. But i wonder sometimes if people don't read to much into this stuff..... this is one example captured. Remember what they are telling us and have a little faith. No canned animations so perhaps this isn't the norm.

I'd settle for one full 12min quarter to be honest.

My point exactly, Artest didn't lean into the dunk or get turned, the "physics system" treated sheed as if his weight and position didn't even matter.
