Madden 11 is getting better and closer to NFL 2k5, but I still think 2k5 is the better game. I have a hard time standing the stuttering, poor, awkward animations in Madden. If Madden had a better tackling engine and better/smoother animations, I think Madden would be the better game right now.

From the demo, I think Madden 11 could be the best game ever...I mean I know its only the demo, but I can only imagine what the final product will be like...I've never been this excited for Madden in my life......but only time will tell, 2k5 was a beast and we haven't seen anything like it since...I think Madden is approaching G.G.O.A.T status

No offense, and I'm sure you weren't trying to start something, but this is a great example of a thread that should be closed immediately. If this was in the Madden forum, it would have been closed and you'd be banned. Whats up with the double standard?

Madden isn't out yet. Hardly anyone can make this comparison yet. Why don't you wait until it does come out, and a larger base of posters can actually give answers?

A non-biased opinion would be: If you want all the new stadiums (Jets, Cowboys, etc) then M11 is the obvious choice.

2k5 still plays a better game of football, but it's six years old now, so the graphics and such won't be up to par with newer Maddens. I'll play it from time to time, but it's not my yearly NFL fix anymore. Right now, M10 is holding steady for me. (I'm passing on 11, seems to be hardly unchanged from last year.)

If you really don't care about playing in the old stadiums, with the older uniforms, then 2k5 would probably be worthy.

Best to try the demo, or rent M11, then play 2k5 and judge for yourself.

Thank you! Mods are super strict when these threads end up in the Madden and NCAA Football sub forum, but they just don't give a damn about the other football game sub forums here.

"Sadly" , Im gonna stick to updated 2k5 this year again. Tried M11 and its just like the previous poster said. Tried NCAA11 and while I liked it a bit more t'han Madden gameplay and presentation wise I just cant stand looking at those robots and ppl falling down like potatoes around a tackler... (I saw a 4man gang tackle once in 10 games)

Well, I just played nfl 2k5, and then moved to Madden 11. All I can say is for me, 2k5 is a clear winner. Better everything besides shinny helmets, and 1080p detail that the ps3/xbox360 gives. I'll even say that I feel 2k5 has better graphics, simply because of the annimations. When 2k5 moves, it looks real, feels real, and plays real. When playing madden, it feels like everything is sliding or floating around to me, and the annimations arent great at all. Even the passes float in the air. Its very easy to tell the flaws after playing 2k5 and then going back to madden 11 right after.

Its funny, I read the Colts are going to be wearing there old throwbacks with blue helmets and the horseshoes on the rear this yuear. I brought up 2k5 to see if it was in there, and sure enough it was(and tons of others). I cant believe the depth this game has and it was built from 2005.

I wanted to get a honest comparision of the two games, so after a game on the ps3 on 1080p with my 22" lcd monitor, I switched the ps3 over to s-video and played it on my 32" tv that 2k5 gets played on. WOW> When you compare the two games side by side like this, 2k5 feels like the next gen game, I kid you not. When Madden doesnt get the next gen 1080p boost, you really see the game for how it plays and what it is.

Sorry folks, no interest in Madden 11.

While Im not happy to play the same 2k version another year, its easily still the best option and will be until EA relkeases a new complete build of Madden, or another company makes a NFL football game.

I know the EA crew have said they played 2k5 and got some ideas. Since I don't have 11, I'll compare 10....

Graphics: Madden. 2k5 was great for its time, but nowadays it's all about 1080p resolution. Although 2k has the ability to be played in 1080p, it's still not as sharp, for some reason. Also, the player models in 2k were good, but in Madden, they're even better...

Gameplay: 2k. Players actually block for you, and not just run in circles. Also, the pocket really looks like a pocket in 2k, and when you play qb, the foot planting is much more realistic. If you even try to back up 20 yards and throw a long pass in 2k, chances are it won't even get close to where you want it to be. Also, tackles/wrapups look more solid in 2k.

Presentation: 2k. Not even close. As was mentioned, Ian stated they played 2k to get ideas. Wellllllll..........besides similar cutscenes (players on bikes, fans tailgating, celebrations after big plays) those ideas weren't implemented well. The Extra Point felt like an unfinished Beta project, while the commentary.......well let's just say, the voice actors for 2k are still head and shoulders above anything Madden has ever done. Jokes, banter, excitement, etc.it's all there.

Not to mention, 2k still looks like a real broadcast after all these years. Other scores, starting lineups, player stats, ESPN Skycam, halftime highlights, Boomer's Halftime Heroes, are you kidding me!!?? What more (presentation-wise) could you possibly ask for!?

Overall, if you want to play in the new stadiums like Dallas, New York, etc., and want true next-gen graphics,then Madden's the choice. If you just want a realistic playing football game, 2k gets the nod.

Would you believe I was playing 2k5 the other day..my wife walks in the room during one of those awesome closeups of my QB walking to the line.....and says "who's that playing?" She then saw the controller in my hand and walked away like "oops, nevermind". Seriously......
