Who do you think will be the best overall tight end next season. What do I mean? Who will be most consistent next season? (i.e. 100 yds and 1-2 TD every week)

Re: Who is the best Tight End next season? (All TE's included)
Depends on what you want. If you want a mauler, well you can find those pretty easily, if you need a receiving threat you'd have to go with Dallas Clark, Antonio Gates or Vernon Davis, but if you want a great overall TE probably none better than Tony Gonzales and Jason Witten.
IMO - I'm expecting to be called a homer for this - Witten is probably the premier TE in the league right now; he can do it all, lines up in multiple positions: TE, FB, H-Back, split out wide, blocks for both the passing game and running game very well and has excellent hands and footwork.Last edited by elgreazy1; 08-09-2010, 05:46 PM. -

Antonio Gates, Dallas Clark, or Jermichael Finley.
I'd put Owen Daniels in here, but coming off ACL, its gonna be tough for him to get up to speed so quick.Comment

I want a complete TE who can do it all, that would be Gonzalez and Witten.Comment

My homer pick: Jermichael Finley. He's got a lot of talent, and with Aaron Rodgers, I can see this being a big year for him.
Otherwise I have to say Dallas Clark. With the offense he's in, surrounded by the talent the Colts have, he'll continue having great years.Comment

It's hard to pick one guy because there are a lot of great tight ends in the league right now.
You have the great receiving types, such as Antonio Gates, Dallas Clark, Owen Daniels, and Jermichael Finley, who pretty much are wide receivers with their athletic ability and cause matchup nightmares for opposing defenses.
You have guys who are great blockers and, though not premier receivers, are competent and possibly underrated in that facet of their game; guys like Heath Miller come to mind.
Then you have guys who, while not premier in either facet, are excellent in both key areas; guys like Tony Gonzalez and Jason Witten are examples of this type of player (though Gonzo would probably fit better into the premier receiver category earlier in his career).
I find it hard to single out just one player. Would probably depend on what kind of offense I'm running, and I think all the above guys are excellent fits in their respective offensive systems.Last edited by Hooe; 08-10-2010, 01:30 PM.Comment

All those mentioned above. But let me throw in Brent Celek... I'm very high on him. With Kolb learning the ropes this year, I see Celek being his favorite target being the outlet man, so I think he'll have a very good year statistically. He's really growing on the fans too, much like Chad Lewis did when he was with the Eagles. Guys who are going to go out there and give you everything they got. I like how Celek isn't afraid to fight for extra yards; I remember him leaping over a defender a year or two ago. That's the kind of player I want on my team.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds
