Love the game so far, but it's hard for me to get decent commits. And at 4-5, I hope I don't get fired.

How much better are 1 star commits than walk-ons?
Anyone know? One star program New Mexico State is loading up on the one star commits, and I'm curious if they will be any better than your average walk on.

Re: How much better are 1 star commits than walk-ons?
Well I know I signed a 1 star kicker and his rating was 64 and I cut him and then we had a walk on who was a 48, so a significant amount better.Comment

Re: How much better are 1 star commits than walk-ons?
I wouldn't settle your mind on the result of a kicker.
As far as I know, there is no such thing as a 5-star kicker, punter, or full back. A 4-star kicker will have an overall similar to 5-star players in other positions, so it follows that a 1-star kicker should have an overall similar to 2-stars in other positions, so your normal 1-star RB may be down in the 50s, which may not be THAT much better than the walk-ons.Comment

I don't know if walk-ons vary based on the prestige of the school but with a 3* school I got high 40 walk-ons as well.
In NCAA10 I got a walk-on kicker that was 80+ OVR with a 5* school.Comment

My friend got an 84ovr walk-on kicker with a 2 star team in Ncaa 10, but a 55ovr with the same team in Ncaa 11. So I don't know if it's by chance or what.Comment

Re: How much better are 1 star commits than walk-ons?
The kickers will have better stats compared to others wit ha similar star rating.
Ive played many dynasty years and the highest I have ever seen a 1 star non kicker is 49 OVR. HOWEVER. if you do some checking and looking at stats/get lucky on stats not shown, you can get a solid player after you change their position. Ive seen jumps from 40s at their main position to 60s as another.
If you are going for one stars, look at their ratings, otherwise it is almost pointless to put time into them. youd be better off trying to get 3 stars that do not have you on their list. Itll be better in the long run to have 3 or so solid 3 stars than it will to have 10 1 stars.
The difference in the level of BAD is not that much from 49 to 40. may as well get free 40s and blow all your time actually trying to improve.
You can get 3 star recruits as a one star. This is a proble the mcomputer has. it stocks up on 5 stars and one stars. if it went straight for the 3 stars instead of the 5 stars it will never get, it would do much better.Comment

I dont see a huge difference, they both suck and won't help you win.Louisville Cardinals

Re: How much better are 1 star commits than walk-ons?
Not if you're a 3, 4, 5, or 6 star prestige program.
There are a lot of people who have more fun playing as 1 and 2 star programs, and you simply can't get 25 2*+ recruits as these programs.Comment

im SJSU and i try only for 3* guys if i get 2* guys i failed at recruitingComment

Re: How much better are 1 star commits than walk-ons?
Guess you're using Varsity or Freshman recruiting difficulty then.
You simply can't get 25 guys that are 3-star or better at SJSU on All-American or Heisman. In fact, in the first few seasons, on AA/H recruiting difficulty, I'd say five 3*s would be pretty lucky.
And you're much better getting 2*s than walk-ons.Comment

Re: How much better are 1 star commits than walk-ons?
Playing OD on AA recruiting. Currently in Week 14 and have the following for 2 star prestige BGSU.
5 - 3* commits
3 - 3* verbal commits
5 - 3* recruits ranked BG as #1
So I could possibly land 13 - 3* recruits this year.
I am 6-6 and 1-1 in rivalries.
Not claiming I am an expert at recruiting. Just throwing more data out there.
I focused heavily on 3* PIPELINE recruits. Hit a couple 4* recruits to no avail. I did not waste any time on 1* (figured just take walk ons) and very little time on 2* (maybe a total of 3 hours all season).
Made a ton of promises which usually gives you over 100 points. We will see if I can hold these but I think with a team at low prestige you have to do this. This could hurt me if I don't fulfill.Last edited by Mack Attack 11; 08-11-2010, 09:12 AM.Comment

Re: How much better are 1 star commits than walk-ons?
Woah... that's drastically high for a 1* unless this is post patch/post 2nd tuner. I signed a 1* kicker my first year who was a 49. A 64-overall frosh would be a pretty decent 3* in my experience.
In my experience, 1* players are not much better than any walkons. I pretty much have completely neglected going for them, and have almost done the same with 2*, unless it's a position that I need to put bodies on but don't have many options (like Punter & Kicker).Comment
