    OT in EASHL

I really wish that they would scrap the continuous OT currantly in place, and instead replace it with the real life NHL format, 5 min OT then shootout. Or at the very least have a shootout after the first 20 minute OT period (yes I know it's 5 minutes in real time). I would want a dev to chime in on this, and tell us if you've made any changes to the format, and the reasoning one way or the other.

I just think it would add more fun to EASHL, as imo shootouts are more exciteing, and fun then just playing endless OT periods. Hell, just yesterday I played a 6 OT game, and was ready for a drink, and a nap after it ended. Thoughts?

It used to be in the format you proposed. A 5 minute OT then a shootout. The problem was glitches were way more rampant and everyone just glitched. Also, they had AI shooting which they should change if they go back.

I don't mind the continuous OT. I like it better.

I wish vs play at the very least had an option for cont. League games and playoffs should have it but don't.

I prefer the continuous OT. Shootouts have no place in EASHL, in my opinion. tbh, they should have 20 mins of OT, if still tied make it a tie maybe? (reg. season only) .. or leave it as is.

I think the format they have it in right now is perfect, I think it gives a much more satisfying conclusion.

I prefer it as it is, what a feeling of relief when you win a game in 7th OT

Penalty shots would bring a whole bunch of problems to the game, AI goalie, AI taking shots, glitch shots etc...

Definitely keep the continuous OT format.

As mentioned before, they already had the OT/Shootout format and it just did not work out.

Besides, it just isn't fun unless you go 2-3 Overtimes.

I think something like a 3OT limit would work. Not very realistic, but if you play an entire 2nd game with no result, just go to the shootout.

I think most games would get settled in the 3OTs, but prevent those endless games from going on.

Yeah I think the continous OT is the best. It's more fun to have a playoff atmosphere every game anyways IMO. Plus it would be annoying to lose a ranked game because of some guy doing some ridiculous glitch or unrealistic dekes. Kind of the same reason the shootout isn't used in the NHL playoffs.

I have a feeling scoring will be a lot easier this year so I doubt there will be many extended OT games (unless you have some outstanding human controlled goalies)

                    Re: OT in EASHL

How about the teams vote after the 3rd period and each ensuing OT period about whether to continue OT or skip to a shootout? If one team doesn't want to continue, then it goes to a shootout. (OT would only be continuous if both teams agreed to it)

The problem in NHL10 was early on when most players didn't have much in their attributes. Games were notorious for being 1-0 with nobody being able to score. Once people got their attributes up the problem was not nearly as big.

I remember early on the OT marathons tended to get old, especially when it was 0-0.
