Only One Team in the Sun Belt DOESN'T play on turf

At first I thought something glitchy happened and suddenly my MTSU dynasty got the dirty uniforms turned off somehow. But, no, actually EVERY team in the conference, except FAU, play on turf. So if you want to see dirty uniforms in your dynasty, the Sun Belt is not the way to go.

Oh, and bowl games? Sun Belt #1? New Orleans Bowl in the Super Dome -- Turf. Sun Belt #2? Papajohns.com Bowl at Legion Field -- Turf. Sun Belt #3? Little Ceasar's Pizza Bowl at Ford Field -- Turf.

Maybe every small conference is like that, I don't know. Maybe none of the little schools can afford to pay somebody to cut grass, who knows.

There's no point to this thread. Just thought it was funny.

Ha! I was wondering about why my FIU dynasty never got dirty uniforms except for when I played FAU. Good find.

How many teams in all of fbs have real grass now? I'm still mad about Iowa going to field turf. Doesn't seem right that the youngsters that go on the field for the first time can't grab a blade of grass if they want to.

That was my question too. I would guess that the majority of FBS schools play on field turf.

Quite a few SEC schools play on natural grass. Uniforms are dirty everywhere when playing NCAA 11 in SEC country!

I can say that every team in the SEC uses grass except for Arkansas and Ole Miss, and Ole Miss just switched like last year I think.

I did a quick search and this is the best info I could find:

More than 60 top NCAA universities currently play their home games on FieldTurf including Nebraska, Ohio State, Michigan, Texas, West Virginia, Washington, Oregon, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas State, Boston College, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Texas Tech, Rutgers, Syracuse, Cincinnati and Louisville.
Of course it only says NCAA and not FBS and it only says "top NCAA universities" so who knows if they're including Sun Belt teams and the like.

Daaang, all those teams? If that's the case, then I guess only us SEC guys are enjoying these beautiful dirty uniforms.

I guess it's a monetary thing. Just looked up every NFL stadium, and every team that plays outdoors except the Bills, Seahawks, and Patriots, use real grass. And even the Texans and Cardinals go out of their way to have real grass in their domes.

Forgot the Bengals. Also it's a monetary thing and studies have shown that it's actually safer than grass.

If the SEC only consists Alabama and Florida then I guess your right.

MTSU uses Sportexe Powerblade synthetic turf.

It's the same surface that Arkansas has. The Baltimore Ravens also used Sportexe Powerblade until this year.

Sportexe also has installed it's products at Cal, North Texas, Alabama (on practice fields), and several other schools, and they're used in about a dozen practice fields in the NFL.

It's not really a cost issue - but one of usage. On a campus like MT where space is limited, you could have football practice 3 or 4 times per week, then have a HS game on Friday, football game on Saturday, and band practice throughout the week. A grass field would be mud after 2 weeks of that schedule.

Alabama and Florida aren't the only teams that have beaten down Ohio State in BCS games.

                            Great points.

Also, it might be a cold weather thing, too. Which explains why New England, Seattle, etc use it in the NFL, and schools like Michigan, Minnesota, etc use it too.

Or maybe us SEC guys are just too conservative.

In my upcoming season, now that Dwight Dasher is gone, I went ahead and scheduled an F schedule, just trying to get some W's this year.

My out of conference schedule is at Idaho (because I wanted to play in that cool little dome they have), home against Memphis (rotation brings this rivalry back home this year), and homes against a Buffalo and an FCS.

And FAU is at home this year.

Literally zero dirty uniforms for me this season.
