2k Sports layoffs and MLB future.

If this topic has already been addressed I apologize for rehashing it.

But, since we've learned that almost none of the people let go last week were involved with the NBA2k franchise, I'm curious as to the future for the MLB 2k sports title. I for one love the depth of the SHOW, but I prefer the gameplay (batting/pitching...obviously NOT the fielding) of 2k's title. I'd hate to see them lose the opportunity to improve on the fielding, stat tracking and atmosphere.

IMHO 2k10 was a very good rebirth of the franchise.

Can anyone confirm that the MLB crew is still onboard for a 2k11 release?
    Fulham FC...Showin' em love.

MLB 2K10 is mad fun, I love the pitching and batting of the game. The fielding is a big problem, but I overlook it because I am more of a casual baseball fan. If they can fix the fielding and keep the current gameplay the way it is, MLB 2K11 (with sick graphics) can compete with The Show. The Show has been so repetitive that I went to MLB 2K10 this year on PS3.

I hope they keep making MLB 2K games.

I'd be disappointed if they didn't keep going. I agree with the op about the game too. Fix the fielding and add some extra sliders to tweak some things (user pitching still too accurate) and next year could be a great game. I had a lot of fun with MLB 2K10 this year despite some obvious flaws.

I love MLB 2K10. It's obviously not as polished as The Show, but I would not trade 2K's gameplay for The Show by any stretch.

That said, I'm kind of looking forward to EA getting baseball back.

EA hasn't done a baseball game in years, let alone a next-gen one. I imagine it'll take a few years before the gameplay and features can contend with the other two.

No doubt it would take a few years for EA's game to be as robust as Sony's, but I have no doubt EA can piece together the right talent. When MVP ceased to exist, EA moved talent to revamping the FIFA franchise.

Realistically, I wonder if EA will avoid investing resources on platforms near the end of their life-cycle. Something to think about.

Would be nice to have MVP back, but I really like MLB 2k10 though! Then I went back and played MLB on PS3 and man I was disappointed at only 1 aspect of 2k10. The graphics were just downright terrible and cartoon-like. Compared to the Show dynamic look of realism.

I wouldn't mind have a 2nd game on 360, and the layoffs effect 2k baseball from where it already is, that is a bad thing. I hope they didn't lose anyone.

MLB 2K10 is solid. I really hope they are able to put as much effort into MLB 2K11 because they have a good foundation to build upon now, which means 2K11 could be really good.

Despite what I said about Ea, I'm right there with you. I'd take 2K10 with what seems like fairly simple fixes over the next year. I don't think fielding is bad, but they have to add errors and bobbles.

I'd like to see some work done to bring pitching closer to what they had in 2K8. I'd jump for joy if they brought back the payoff pitch mechanic, or at least a new way to have ratings be more up and down throughout a game.

I'd like to see some updates to turn MLB Today into a more robust mode. I'd like to keep my stats in MLB Today games, and possibly have the option to play out a season. So if I decided to crank up a n MLB Today season right now, they could update the game with actually line-ups and starting pitchers throughout the season.

But what I was getting at in regards to Ea is that they have really improved their sports games across the board in this generation. I don't know if they can give the Show a run for their money or not. But I'd love to see Peter Moore decide to give it a try.

I've played and thoroughly enjoyed the last three 2K baseball games, understanding that they were flawed, but had some really great gameplay buried within them. But they really made it hard to grow their market with some pretty serious issues in each of the games. If their budget is going to be tight, 2K11 may again have its share of issues.

2k10's gameplay was fine by me as well, as well as the presentation and so forth. I think the graphics need a super overhaul..and it would stand out big time. I love everything else about it.

I think 2K is heading in the right direction with the franchise finally. I HATED the previous 2K baseball games and really had (and am having) fun with this one. I'm all for EA bring back MVP but only if it's to compete with 2K. You have to remember that EA would be starting all over with developing a franchise since they have been out of the game for so long. 2K has at least been able to build off previous versions for years.

MVP was amazing back in the day but it probably will need s few years to get it right.

If EA was able to build and work off of MVP 2005 as a template, I don't think it would take as long as a few years. IN MY OPINION, they could pass the MLB 2K series their first time out if they dedicated enough time and man power to it.

2K10 is a really good baseball game. Have only seen the video's and highlight's for the Show. Does it just look hyped up or is it just me.? If I were to do a poll out there figuring out which the BEST baseball game out there what would this panel say and why? Right now liking this time of year because all the new war games come out but because a lot of different sports start up like football and soon hockey. This is my favorite time of year, hands down.

They'd probably say MLB The Show due to the gameplay, graphics, and all around feel of the game. It really does feel like major league baseball when you're playin' it.

If they built from a 5 year old, last gen template, that game would likely be pretty poor. MVP was a great game for it's time, but it is outdated, and they'd have to start from scratch at this point.
