Exciting news: The running game is no longer an issue in Greathouse <hr style="color: rgb(214, 211, 214); background-color: rgb(214, 211, 214);" size="1"> <!-- / icon and title --> <!-- message --> Remember when you first got Backbreaker, and you kept saying "WOW" and all the things you would say and think when you saw all the hits and wild scenes that you've never seen in a football game before?

What would it feel like if you were to imagine that feeling again?

Well, you will get that feeling back again, because THE RUNNING GAME IS BACK BABY!

Not only for the user, but the CPU as well! The first time you see a great running back fake you out of your pants and run for a 75 yard score, you will say WOW again.

I have been working since Greathouse was released to edit the ratings so we can get the running game back and still have great defense, and now have the perfect balance between offense and defense. The new rosters will be released "soon" but VERY soon. Just want to make sure they are close to perfect.

In this historic NFL roster file, halfbacks such as Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, and Marshall Faulk will leave your best tacklers with broken ankles, while Earl Campbell and Christian Okoye run over your big bad LBs like they are little girls...

QBs Marino, Fouts, Kelly and Elway will bomb you like scenes from the hurt locker,
And yes, Jevon Kearse will have multiple sack games.

Everything has been overhauled to where the stars play like stars, and the teams perform as they did in real life. I've had 200 yard running games, 400 yard passing games and 10-3 defensive struggles ..the variation is fantastic.

I found out alot of things about the ratings that need to be tweaked...alot of unexpected and strange things... raise one rating, and another aspect of the game is affected, but I have it figured out....FINALLY!

The game is now heart poundingly fun again, like when you first got the game.

I am really amazed how the '73 Bills game completely revolves around OJ Simpson just like it did in real life. how the '85 Bears stop everything you throw at them, and how Marino to Duper and Clayton and Warner to Bruce and Holt get past you in deep coverage.

And yes, this can be applied to ANY roster you make....current NFL, current BB teams, whatever.

As I said, the new rosters will be released "soon" but VERY soon. Just want to make sure they are close to perfect.

wow, this sounds fantastic.. cant wait to try!
but I would also like to apply your rating settings to my current NFL teams if it is truly s good as you say.

Can you post what you did to the ratings to get the great gameplay?

    thanks

        Thanks!
Will share the file asap. Just final testing now.
The formula is literally a freakin' formula.
I mean it's not easy to write out...remember I've been tweaking for a month.
Raise one rating, and another aspect of the game is affected...pretty intricate, but I'm addicted...

How does your formula affect the pass rush, now that the run game is fixed?

Can explain what changes have been made, like what needed to be "tweaked" and what "unexpected and strange things" you've discovered? You say "but I have it figured out....FINALLY!"

Exactly WHAT have you figured out? I'd love to know if yuo have indeed created a fix for the running game but for now your post is filled with a lot of flashy claims and no substance whatsoever. For all our sake, I hope what you claim is accurate but I'm cautiously apprehensive at this point.

Please explain, in detail, what changes you made and what those respective changes effected in terms of gameplay.

This was my first impression. Look at slider discussions around these forums and you'll see many adding their input to what has been established.

Your post gives me the impression that you don't want to share the ins and outs of what you are doing so that you can be the first to claim the solution.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

Does it really matter? I really don't care if he wants credit or not.. if he truly has come up with a valid fix for the ratings, and it works, and we can apply to our own custom teams or NFL created teams, i will gladly give him all the credit in the world.

Why don't you just wait until he reveals his formula and settings before bashing him.
At least he is spending his own free time to try and make this game better.
That's more than most people around here who just want to take take take, and expect everything to just be given to them..

He doesn't owe you or me anything.. if he wants to wait to announce his formula, thats fine with me.. as long as its not just a bunch of hype

I don't know, the subject proclaims one thing and then the OP doesn't deliver... sounds like hype to me.

Every player only has 4 stats, if it's a sweeping change genuinely makes running no longer an issue then it be definition can't even really be that complex unless it only fixes it under a very specific set of circumstances.

Ok, well maybe I was off there. I'll just wait until he makes his announcement over ESPN with Jim Grey.

you guys make valid points.. I have my doubts as well.. but lets just wait and see though.. because if he really has come up with a working "formula" , we all will be lining up to use it

its not like he is charging money for it..

                          Excuse me.
Let me put it this way.
I'm really excited to share the file with you guys, so you can see for yourself.
And I DON'T get paid for this. I do this for the love of the game, literally.

The tweaking is really endless because one attribute affects another.
I am working to get the run game great, as well as have a pass rush. This is a nightmare... They work against each other so it takes endless hours to test, test and re-test to make sure sacks and the running game are both there. Every time you think you HAVE IT, there are no sacks, or there is 1 yard per carry again, or a lowly scrub gets 2 sacks over the superstar with none! Also each of the 4 ratings affects things differently and you can only assume what "Focus" and "agility", etc. controls, so it's all experimentation...alot of experimentation.

In addition, the patch created a completely new ratings system where nothing corresponds to what it used to. Every team has changed ratings from pre-patch top post-patch, throwing another fly into the ointment. I can't "explain, in detail, what changes you made and what those respective changes effected in terms of gameplay" overall, because it's not finished yet, nor is it a simple blanket formula. I wish it was! It's specific to each individual player. How do you make one player play to the level you want, and another play to a higher or lower level. It's not as simple as lowering all 4 ratings because all ratings are different...not equal. Over 1800 players have been affected and are being re-rated. Now, imagine what that's like.

Would you would like to put some of your time into this?
                          thanks,
                          MJ

I am still hopeful.. but honestly I am not as enthused as I was previously.
just hearing that in order to apply this to my current NFL roster, i would have to individually edit every player does not sound like a lot of fun..

All you will need to do is grab the save file on put it on your Xbox360, the only issue is you will need to restart your season with the new teams from the save file.
