Great insight. I'm curious if we will be able to use the fake pass while inbounding as well...This could help deal with those FC Press, Steal button spammers.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

Believe me ... I more than welcome the new passing features as, like you have pointed out, it expands the game and makes it more authentic ... then again, while the article about offense and defense had me pleased ... post defense seem to be not quite detailed, specially after seen this insight.

Thus we would have to wait for vids where some off & def post moves are shown to truelly appreciate what has been done ... or ... Da_Czar could elite us up with his impressions.

Regardless of the results, 2K11 its a must own, as it is shaping to be the best bball videogame ever.

Overhead passes are too slow for a lot of the situations where you saw them last year so we put in hard work to ensure that just about the only time you see them is when we truly feel there is a potential threat in the pass lane that could intercept or deflect your pass.
This makes the game alot more realistic on screen and in play, I love how they really listen to what the community wants and addressing the issues of concern.

The combination of improved footplanting. lack of superhuman recovery speed and better spacing on offense means that if you have the personel your going to be able to punish bad double teams and get high percentage open shots if you have the guys to knock them down.

Also they have accurately replicated some of the other issues that arise form ill timed double teams like getting beat on the offensive glass... of course that depends on matchups as well but if they double you will can get open shots.
That's great to hear, man. Question, have you seen the 'authentic plays"? Did they really add lots of authentic plays?

With regards to triangle offense, that offense is not always being initiated by the PG. PG's play off the ball to be set up for an open jumpshot. But in 2K10, PG's always initiate the play, unless the play is for a PG, like a corner three or something.

Re: NBA 2K11 Developer Insights: The Art of Passing

I was one of those people that thought passing did not warrant its own insight, but the amount of detail and various sequences that the developer provided makes this insight worthwhile (probably the best so far IMO). I really hope that since passing ratings "matter now", that I don't have to deal with so many players (particularly the PG's) racking up 15 + assists against me, and by the same respect, I hope that I'm not racking up crazy assist number either even though my primary team of choice is the Hornets. I do want to get carved up by the premier passers of the league however like Nash, Rondo, D.Will etc. The passing and the assist in this b-ball series has always felt somewhat cheap and easy. It's good to know that they've attempted to rectify this problem because its been a long time coming.

passing sounds great so far, using CP3 and nash will seem more rewarding now..

                  on a side note..

I'm guessing that this will have a normalizing effect on my point guard's assist numbers in My Player as well. Sorry Mr. Dillon, no more averaging 16 assists/game.

lol. hopefully it would work better in 2k11 than it did on KB24(I'm still amazed how he didn't even react/blink on that fake)

It was one of my favorite additions to basketball and it makes transitioning a ton better.
As you read it, is the total control passing exactly like live 10 in terms of the buttons and mechanics? If so, I might as well practice it with Live 10 since I've all but retired 2K10.
