Are there any demo videos or instructional videos that cover all the different deke moves you can pull off in this game? My stick skills are probably below-average, and all I can seem to do is just fake one way or another. I'd love to do a toe-drag or another advanced move, but I really don't know how to do them.

Toe-drag is hold the puck out to your forehand side, then roll the R-stick to the opposite side while holding left bumper (L1 on PS3). I need to brush-up on some of the others, but that one I have down...

Any more tips on how to play defence? I posted this a while back, but I'm still having a heck of a time stopping the CPU. I use the poke check sweep which sometimes work, I also try to get into shooting lanes as much as possible to block shots. Aside from that, I'm giving up a ton of goals. It really seems incalculably easier to play offence than defence in this game (the flaw in most sports games).

          Well...

My Xbox has made a safe return from repairs and I finally got my grubby hands on the demo!!!

It took me about 3 or 4 periods to adjust to the feel of the game which is much much different from NHL 10 and its 100% for the better.

After an hour or so I moved from Pro to Superstar and lets just say I'm ecstatic with what I'm seeing from the CPU AI. They really scare me now when on breakaways and odd man rushes. My goals have felt rewarding and the hitting is just fantastic. I love how I sincerely feel like anything can happen when playing this game.

I really didn't experience any sort of difficulty winning faceoffs once I understood my options at the circle and the other additions (broken sticks, new dekes, etc) have done wonders for the feeling of polish that this game posesses.

Early on, I'm gonna give this a 9/10.

My only real complaint is that I can hardly read the overlays that I wanted to see implemented to badly. Can't win em all I suppose.

In regards to your score. I think that is about spot on, maybe a little higher if you believe in that whole decimal thing. I think it will be about a 92 on Metacritic, when all is said and done.

EDIT- It's funny that you finally got the demo today. I finally decided to delete it, the demo just makes the time go slower at this point. You are almost lucky that you had to wait this long. Haha!

its hard to score games when you look and see far inferior ones being given scores in the 85-90 range

I mean, NHL 11 obviously wont be a perfect 10... but if you were to use the same standard used for games like Madden, it'd be a 12 lol

What's toe drag, and what's it used for? Passing or shooting?

I just discovered that the restaurant i work in will be closed the day NHL11 comes out.
At first i was super excited, then the owner said "We're closed so they can fix the floors and clean."
                  And i said "who's cleaning?"
He looked at all of us cooks on the line and laughed and said "You guys".
So i'm hoping my "school day" will get me out of that one.
Although it may not be so bad.
Anyhow, i have plans for a full day of NHL11, and hopefully they don't get crushed.

It is an elusive maneuver. The player, uses the curve of the stick to pull the puck into himself, from one side to another.

Someone else can probably explain it better than me.

You can always enable the dirty secret. Auto-aim is the only reason I can really enjoy the game. Yes, I know I'm in the minority.

Please, please, please let me play my friends online with auto-aim. There are few guys from another forum I play with that would love to have this option. Without it, we have too many 0-0 and 1-0 games. We're old and don't seem to be able to get the aiming down well enough to score.

Speaking of dekes, the kick the puck to the skate then back to the stick, would love to know how to do that one.

Hold in the left bumper (quick deke button) and back or down on the right stick if you're skating up.

bought nhl 10 for cheap (never played it (owned and enjoyed 08 and 09 years ago)

i love it. but after playing the nhl 11 demo (even thoguh i have deleted it now) there is something missing while playing. but until i stop having fun i wont make the step up. its nice to enjoy 10 beforehand for £8.50 anyway.

can i ask, for people with the 11 demo, the one thing that bothers me about nhl 10 (in fact if this was fixed i think i would be totally in love with the game) is the lack of pressure in the neutral zone. it seems i can skate into the offensive zone with ease on all-star, and im not good enough to try it on superstar yet.

is nhl 11 different on all-star? do the other team forecheck well and push up and genuinely make it difficult to get into the zone as in real life. as thats the only facet of nhl 10 that seems rather arcadey and unrealistic.

I wouldn't know about allstar, but there's quite some good pressure from the cpu in the neutral zone on superstar. At least in my experience with the demo.
