Chillin at the CONSOL Energy Center | A Pittsburgh Penguins NHL 11 Chise

Most of the pre-season power rankings and stuff will be done now, then the bomb will drop after the game is ready.

                        Pittsburgh Penguins

                        Forwards:
Who needs team depth when you have Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Jordan Staal down the middle of your lineup? The Penguins have grown accustomed to relying on those three to carry the load, while filling in winger holes through deadline deals or cheap free agent pickups. This season, however, there is going to be more than one hole to fill. However talented potential callup Eric Tangradi is, a true first line winger is needed. At the moment, Kunitz and Dupuis/Tangradi isn't cutting it.

Defense: This off-season the Penguins bolstered their defense with Paul Martin, a two way d-man, and Zbynek Michalek, arguably the most underrated defenseman in free agency, after a failed attempt to sign Dan Hamhuis. For a team that makes its name on offense, it might be surprising to some they had the sixth-lowest shots-against per game in 2009-10. With Sergei Gonchar gone, Ray Shero decided to go for real defensemen, not forwards playing in the wrong position. Despite losses of Mark Eaton and Jordan Leopold, the latter of whom picked up at the trade deadline, the Penguins have arguably one of the top 3 defenses in the league at the moment.

Goaltending: Quite possibly the weakest thing on the Penguins. Well, the strongest if Fleury is consistent. (When has that ever happened?) After drafting MAF with the first-overall pick in 2003, he has had a GAA of 2.82, which is good by any means, yet a SV% of just .907. Another bright side: 16 shutouts. Brent Johnson was brought back after having a great year for a backup last, but John Curry is a potential callup once again this year.

Recap: After back-to-back Stanley Cup final appearances, Pittsburgh fell short last season, but you can’t win it every year and the Penguins are just as prepared as ever to take another run.

                          Philadelphia Flyers

                          Forwards:
Where the Flyers really shine is up front, where a deep collection of skaters can wear down most teams. Simon Gagne was traded in a salary-dumping move that had to be made because of the cap and could be made because of their depth. Nikolai Zherdev was brought back from Russia, but expectations for what he’ll bring are tepid. And don't think we're forgetting one of the gooniest players in hockey, Daniel Carcillo! He's expected to be as goony as he was before, no surprise.

Defense: The defense, which was in the top five in the league last season, is still intact and was bolstered at the bottom by the acquisitions of Andrej Meszaros and Sean O’Donnell. Chris Pronger, one of the most hated men in hockey, is back for yet another season, and he's expected to break 3 bones this year - in other peoples bodies. :scared:

Goaltending: The real question remains in goal where Michael Leighton and Brian Boucher will again try and piece together a winning season. Leighton, former backup for Carolina, led a Cup trip last year. Leighton's GAA was 2.48, .18 less than the league average. His SV% was .918, .007 percent more than the league average. Is this a sign of things to come?

Recap: After losing the Cup finals last year, the Flyers are expected to finish second in the division, and 4th in the conference.

Just wondering, why don't you have Talbot playing center? I could see him playing wing if he were paired with Geno, but he's always been a fourth line center.

Also, I'm excited to see how Tangradi does in your dynasty.
