ANd this is exactly why you cant look at these vids as an end all. and make your decision. ANYONE saying "I've made my decision" based on these vids. are probably telling a fib. you made your decision before that. this was just a cherry on top of your decision to pickup 2k or to not by ELITE.Nope you pass with the Right Trigger, its an odd choice thats for sure. This games are controls are a complete departure from previous bball games.
Everything from the layups to the dribbling they sound easy to pick up just watching vids but its whole new thing once you try it out.
I had to try and figure out how to do everything while playing against someone else so I was airballing shots short, long, to the left, it was horrible haha!
Passed up a few dunk opportunities because I thought RT was turbo for a while lol!
These vids look HORRIBLE because the guys playing with them #1 will make any basketball game look arcadey because thats how they play. they dont sim. SIM players are FEW, run n gun players are many. this is why it has taken this long for any hoop game to TRULY become sim hoop.
#2 these guys dont know any of the controls. they are all different darn near. that means unless you've had a good 5 hours with the game. at minimum. then they let you go head up for another 5. you wont know how to do what you Want to do. how many times did you see a situation where a guy should've spun off a guy then dunked on a defender. or atleast made a layup? but you never did. you saw guys getting stuck trying to figure out what to press.
the fact that you can travel on every jumper is REAListic. does 2k have that? or does it force you to shoot before you land?Comment

thats not true. you can have a game that looks like hot garbage but has GREAT gameplay that old 989 basketball game was like that. if you played sim ball. it played like sim ball. that was the first game that had fact passes, rap around the back passes. and you controlled all that stuff. i think you even controlled what hand you used for layups. me and my friend rented the game to see and clown on how bad it was. and we ended up hating its look but loving its gameplay.Comment

Just wanted to give a shout out thanks to those that took the time to record, and upload the video. that is no easy task when a new game is right in front of you.
I shall take a wait and see approach. These videos have not shifted my opinion one bit. I realize a ton of factors are at play here.Comment

It looks like there is going to be a big learning curve. Those vids show a ton of missed shots, and a ton of turnovers. I never bought Live 10 maybe I'll get that instead.Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Videos and Impressions From the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Event
If I am the producer of elite or 2k , I would never allow videos of showing ppl who don't know how to play basketball games against the cpu especially NOT user vs user, because if you ask your little boy cousin at 8 years old to play the game, they will play the game bad meaning they will do things that things that are unrealistic, they might use shaq to bring up the ball and try to shoot jumpers, I think is because the user SUCKS thats why the gameplay becomes a complete mess, but I AM disappointed with a lot of things in the game, just the overall players' movement is off, especially the way they jump, that looks really bad...and that boozer dunks, shaq's fadeaway inside paint shot, but I won't say this game is trash just cuz of those videos, gotta try demo myself to tell...Comment

Was an ugly thing to see but that was all user controlled so it was their decision to do it. Obviously the goal is to give Shaq his own set of sig post moves but for this situation it could have been controlled. If I am the producer of elite or 2k , I would never allow videos of showing ppl who don't know how to play basketball games against the cpu especially NOT user vs user, because if you ask your little boy cousin at 8 years old to play the game, they will play the game bad meaning they will do things that things that are unrealistic, they might use shaq to bring up the ball and try to shoot jumpers, I think is because the user SUCKS thats why the gameplay becomes a complete mess, but I AM disappointed with a lot of things in the game, just the overall players' movement is off, especially the way they jump, that looks really bad...and that boozer dunks, shaq's fadeaway inside paint shot, but I won't say this game is trash just cuz of those videos, gotta try demo myself to tell...
So the user could have chosen to use a more "shaq" like move. Its not like last year where that was one of the only options in the post up.
And hopefully with the Real-AI feature we won't see him shooting fadeaways by the CPU either.Comment

Oh yea it definitely isn't something I like to see either, Shaq (and many other guys) definitely needs his own set of post moves.
Giving players the option to even attempt it is odd for sure, but the fact that we can control it keeps me happy.
And besides they added in a nice set of moves for the power bigs this year so I'm happy that I won't have to be playing with Shaq shooting fadeaways if I don't want to.. Was really frustrating having to do that last year he looked like a punk out ther lol!Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Videos and Impressions From the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Event
I disagree, if the guy wants Shaq to put up a bunch of fades then fine, if he wants Shaq to take 20 shots from downtown then fine. And if that's going to be his gameplan then Shaq should go 1 for 35 for the night. I love letting the user have all the control they want, they just shouldn't get ANY success when going in a non-sim realistic fashion with their gameplay. Same thing with the dunks, if a guy wants to attempt to dunk with Boozer from the line then fine let him try, and when Boozer comes up 3 feet short and goes to ground with his arms flailing like he just fell off a building turning the rock over then that's all on the user. These are the animations that need to be added to games. Guys coming up short clanging the rock on the front of the rim because they jumped to soon. Guys shooting shots with no chance of success with guys who simply can't shoot at those ranges.Oh yea it definitely isn't something I like to see either, Shaq (and many other guys) definitely needs his own set of post moves.

One thing I noticed with these vids is that if you have a player with a half sim mind on the sticks and knows the controls he can dominate because it SEEMS like the game is rewarding basketball fundamentals versus just wilding out on the sticks. And if this is the case then this game will definitely get a look from me.Comment
