Mike Wang said he left because he didn't like the direction the game was going. And now we know what he meant. This game is HORRIBLE! WTF
That's probably the only reason he left 2k was because he had an opportunity to be the Lead Guy.Comment

What is this? How much would somebody pay to play a game like that...? I hope those that that pay $60 for that enjoy it. I actually want EA to do good to keep pushing the other game better but man on man all I can say it is good we as the consumer of these games have options.Comment

wow, no wonder they havent been showing gameplay vids. Its funny when we get these Elite vids when the guys working on the game finally see something they like and they show you some developmental video (which often isnt too impressive itself). Its amazing if they actually are proud of this work.
That had to be some of the worst video game basketball ive seen. Boozer dunking from the FT Line? You know its bad when you allow people to try this game out and outloud they are like "WTF was that?!?" Thats often not good. I was hoping they would have came out strong this year trying to reinvent the franchise but its as if they took 10 steps back after making improvements last year. I didnt think NBA Live was flat out terrible last year, it was heading in the right direction but now i dont know what to think.
Its like EA is trying to see how many copies they can sell just by being EA Sports.Last edited by JerseySuave4; 08-30-2010, 09:52 PM.Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Videos and Impressions From the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Event
EA already scrapped the legacy of LIVE so I don't think they would shed one tear eliminating Elite and sim basketball altogether with a poor year one showing with Elite. I'm not feeling Elite after these videos but I damn sure don't want to see EA abandon the genre...But its all too true when people mention "Were tired of waiting for NEXT YEAR"...That hustle train has came and left the station for too many consecutive years.Comment

OS: When did you leave or decide to leave the NBA Live team, and when did you return to the NBA 2K team?
Mike: After NBA Live 10 wrapped up and we started going through the pre-production planning phase for '11, we held several meetings to discuss the future of the franchise. After going through those meetings, it became very clear that the vision I had for the game was different from where the leadership wanted to take it. I parted ways with EA shortly after and came back on-board with the NBA 2K team last November.Comment

I'm kind of undecided on this issue, but leaning towards your stance on this. It just seems weird to see hook shots from the foul line, Shaq doing fade-aways, etc. Personally it wouldn't effect me, but for a newcomer who just wants to pick up and play it's not going to be appealing to them when they pull off such awkward moves. And their interest in the game may fade quickly if they don't realize it was user error. Stuff like this affects sales directly.Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Videos and Impressions From the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Event
i like to keep an open mind, nobody ever knows how good a game can be until they play it. like i said when i first saw these videos, you can't really gauge much w/ the way the guys in the vids were playing the game and the quality wasn't good at all. just like last year, i was ready just to go buy one game but when i played the demo of the other, i decided to buy it because it's what i liked better. it's really to soon to make any types of judgements if ya ask me.Comment

Well, we all know what he said. But..... I'm just saying, why leave after one year. Really..... It's just something that came to mind so don't go get all defensive on me. I'm just saying....Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Videos and Impressions From the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Event
I think we all can agree, whether you were a fan of 2k or Live, that NBA Live 10 was at least heading in the right direction and even if it wasnt the better NBA game it was still good enough to push the 2k people. But when they put out something that looks like this (just going off the vids we've seen and the info we have) thats not good for anyone. Although i dont think the 2k people will get lazy, when you have no competition it can make you become complacent (look at Madden). If they had improved upon NBA Live 10 then this game would not look the way it does now. They made a big leap last year and now it appears they took 3 leaps backwards.
I know its still early but really its not. The games come out a little over a month from now so its not really early anymore and its not good when a company has not released any gameplay vids yet and the only vids we've seen are when a producer is working on the game, has something happen that they like and they decide to post a vid showing that. And even then those vids are not always that great.
I'll be honest, its not even close which game i'm getting this year and other than the 1st year or 2 on next gen i've been a 2k person but before i made the switch i was always a Live person and loved the series and i always pay attention to what they are doing before the games come out wondering when and if Live can win me back so i dont just come here to bash Live because i like 2k better and i dont just praise 2k because its 2k. I dont believe in being a fanboy or ***** because to me i just want whatever the better game is. I dont care if its EA, 2k, Sony, Sega, whoever making the game, i just want the better game. Last year Live at least had me considering it and i thought about buying it but i rented it and just felt 2k was still better so i went with that. I was curious when they announced the name change and changes to the game but not only has 2k smashed it with their own additions and improvements, EA has made the decision that much easier with the stuff they have showed us.
Its sad to see because at this point they are turning off a lot of people from their game before its even come out and now its going to be that much harder for them to win those people back because theyre tired of the "we're working on it for next year" or "we're setting the foundation for the future" talk. This year was a chance to put up or shut up and we're seeing which way they went.
And i dont want this to come across as straight up EA bashing and 2k praising because i'm not trying to get banned over something like this and like i said before i just want the best game possible. I'm just disappointed after seeing these vids and this will prob be the last time i decide to go in such depth about that whole situation.Comment

You'll probably have a demo within 2 or 3 weeks at most.
Let me ask you a question. Remember in Live 10 you could dive for loose balls? Do you remember hearing about or seeing any of that at all?
Not saying its there or not there, but my point is, You havent see it, we havent seen it, and therefore you have a logical conslusion that it was likely removed right?
That's called making a judgement based on the evidence you have.
Now again, im not here bashing these guys work or what theyre trying to accomplish because I'd rather challenge them to make the best basketball game they can make. We've gone from about 6 bball game releases in a year down to 2. Thats not good for any hoops fanComment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Videos and Impressions From the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Event
Truth. I love the idea of having multiple games from the same league going at it year in and year out. I'm bummed I lost NFL2K. I'm bummed I lost EA MVP Baseball. And while I prefer NBA2K, I'm bummed NBA Live seems to be heading in another direction. What happens if 2K slips up? Will there be a simulation alternative?Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Videos and Impressions From the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Event
come on it's pretty obvious what happened and he was there for a year and a half, he came in mid way in live 09 and was told he would be given time to reestablish the game franchise he had lead on Live 10 and thought he could build upon Live 10 next year then the term RTP came out and EA higher up felt this was the future and decided to rush to implement this into their game, the fact is every game that has RTP took had years to develop it and perfect it to some extend so forcing a game to have it with less than a year of development is crazy and it also put into respect that there is not to compare a Rob Jones type person in EA because the guy in charge of Elite still has people above him that can override him which is why the future of Elite is not set in stone because if sales are bad who is to say that they just wont shut it down or have them start from scratch again.PSN=Coolcas7Comment
