getting ready to trade in the madden game, hate the gameplay, think this is the worst madden ever, just wondering what op nation thinks is the best madden year, and a question is it possible to put the 2011 rosters on a older game, through a patch or download, thanks

I think 2011 has a chance to be the best madden year, depends on how the patch works that comes out later in 9/2010. Outside 2011 I thought 2010 was pretty solid for the most part. And I've been playing madden for the last 10 years, they all have their highs and lows. But last years was overall pretty good IMO, and this year has the ability to be awesome, we just have to wait and see... so I wouldn't trade in the game yet.

Agreed, Madden sucks this year. '05 was the best IMO.

And I'm not sure but I don't think the updated rosters are available for older versions of Madden, that's how they get you to dump $60 every year.

i dont know how anyone can even think any previous next gen madden could compete with madden 11.

As far as the best ever that is still yet to be seen...we're still trying to catch up the the glory days of the last gen maddens...

This was by far the best Madden Ive ever played....this generation or past. Ive never been able to play Madden more then 2 weeks, but Madden 11 is actually pretty good.

I'd give Madden 11 a rating of 7.7-8.0 this year. I do enjoy it, theres just things that keep it from getting 8+,9, or 10 scores from me personally.

I really liked Madden 10, this years is terrible. I've been playing Madden since 92', My favorite was 05 or 06

I just got a copy of Madden 08 and like that over 11. Better overall presentation. It plays a bit fast and hyper, but the player models and animations are better. Its more mocap animations in 08 than the bad animation intern stuff in 11.

I don't know how anyone can say this years Madden is the best yet. Yes maybe presentation and visual wise it is the best yet, but the gameplay is, to quote Simon Cowell, absolutely dreadful.

But then again if you're a fan of an arcade style football game then this year's Madden is right up your alley. Personally I'll just wait for the Madden 2011 arcade to pop up in my local bowling alley and I'll play it there when I need to bring out my inner Tecmo Bowl and throw for 124354432432 yards.

I don't understand how people can think it's arcade style when you have sliders.

USE THEM.

There are 2 great sets over in the slider forums and soon to be 3 (when Bill get's his done).

Unfortunatly you have to put in some work with tweaking all 32 gameplans (read MikeOwnz slider thread). But once you do you will be very happy you did.

I have not had this much fun with Madden in over 5 years.

That's the thing, way too many people refuse to use sliders in sports games. To me hands down this is the best Madden. If people took the time to game plan for all 32 teams for the offense and defense, use a good slider set, this game is unmatched.

Nothing touches 08 for the PC with all the utilities that are available for it.

I just shake my head when people saw "worst madden ever." That isn't even a thought out statement. If you, or anyone else really felt Madden 11 was "the worst madden ever" then you are saying that madden 06, 07, and 08 on the 360/PS3 were NOT the worst ever, when by far they are. Also, compared to what? By today's standards, every Madden prior to 03 was terrible.

I personally love Madden 07 on the XBox/PS2 the most for it's franchise mode and solid game play, but Madden 11 is the best overall Madden I have ever played. The other thing to keep in mind when talking about what the best madden games are, you have to ask how someone is playing the game? Are you playing ranked online games? Against the computer with custom sliders? Online Team Play? What?

Madden 11 is not perfect, who said it was? Madden 11 doesn't do every thing correct, and there are things about Madden 11 that are not as good as NCAA or a 2k game, but the same is true for those games compared to Madden. I prefer 2k5 over 2k8 any day, and not just for the NFL. However, as an example, when I go back to play a 2k game I miss Madden's play books and pre-snap controls immediately. I also wasn't a big fan of the tap to run/hold to charge feature. I know a lot of people like it and it has a sort of sim feel to it [a player gearing up to make a move] but it was overpowered and a bit arcady. 2k is likely the best overall football game I have played, but Madden is on track to surpassing that in a few years [hopefully.]

Is it sad that 6 years latter we would even be having a discussion like this? yes, but that doesn't change anything, and here we are. Either we an move forward or cry in our beer. It's up to you. I for one am going to enjoy Madden 11. I am going to play franchise mode, agaisnt friends, and use OTP. it's possible you just need to find another way to play/enjoy the game.
