What do you think about "Prestige"
I think they really need to add in a "Prestige" ranking to the player attributes. This is similar to what was in a baseball game years ago called "Baseball Stars". Prestige could be used for players like A-Rod, Jeter, Pujol, etc. This rating will not affect a player's rating but it will cause players with higher "Prestige" to cause bumps in attendance, be harder to trade for, and sign for more money. Young players with high Prestige will not sign contracts beyond their arbitration years and will instead wait until arbitration is over to sign full free agency contracts (a la Borris clients). This might solve a few instances where untradeable players are traded for by the computer, Like Jeter for a prospect

I really likd this idea. Baseball stars was my favorite game. I actually played it till it would not play anymore. Man I had that game forever and i was very mad when it quit playing. I would probably still pllay it today some if i had it.I think they really need to add in a "Prestige" ranking to the player attributes. Re: What do you think about "Prestige"
Adding to it, a Player with a high Prestige Ranking may also tend to get the close calls at the plate with regards to the variable strike zone.
Established players and those who work their way up to a position of baseball respect would get the benefit of pitches just on and off the dish.
Nice idea.

Re: What do you think about "Prestige"
It would certainly have to be implemented carefully but I think it would be a huge addition to the game and doesn't seem to be overly complex. I'm not a programmer though so it might be more difficult than I imagine. I just think and pretty much everyone seems to agree that it is a great idea.
Maybe Knight or some of the other more knowledgeable members will take note of this thread and lend us their thoughts?

Re: What do you think about "Prestige"
At first I thought your idea was going to be similiar to Madden's useless "swagger" attribute, or whatever it's called; you know, who has more bling?...
However, I think this is a GREAT idea. It would also help to alleviate certain FA's sitting on the market too long (higher prestige equals higher demand) and superstars who get traded 3-4 times in a season (although I'm not sure if that is a problem in MLB 10 like it used to be. Hmmm....).
Anyway, GREAT IDEA!!!!!
I've always wondered why a sports game has never had more attributes for franchise? The player's abilities (the baseball game) can be considerably different from their off-the-field value (franchise mode). Think of a seasoned veteran. Many teams look for/keep around mediocre/bad veterans b/c of their value to younger players, ability to put "meat in the seats", and overall goodwill (a long-standing veteran of one team whereas the team gives the veteran benefit of doubt so he can retire there (w/ a pay cut, usually)). Thus, a mediocre veteran may have higher value than a players attributes/stats can ever show.
In vain with this, I wish they could/would implement a system whereas having a veteran raises attributes faster of a younger backup at the same position.Comment
