Re: NBA Elite 11 Videos and Impressions From the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Event
Let me clarify my issue, one last time. I want control within boundaries of their real-life counterpart. No players dunking that you don't see dunk, no players dribbling between their legs, that don't do so in a NBA game.
Now that's out of the way... Here's my issue. I don't like the contextual shots that happen in proximity to the rim. Yes, you choose the type of shot - but how often do you see Nowitzki shooting a regular jumpshot 3 foot from the basket? I think the game should adapt to the location you are and regardless of the type of shot you attempt, a realistic animation attempt play out. Look at the following clip. Shots like this are what has plagued this franchise for years.
<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/k1TLopTePe8?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/k1TLopTePe8?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>Last edited by HoosierDaddy; 09-01-2010, 10:23 AM.Comment

But that's kinda the users fault cause he could went for a right or left handed layup right there but he chose not to.Twitter - @OtistheOriginalComment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Videos and Impressions From the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Event
you would shoot a normal jump shot leaning into the basket with a 7 foot big man? I know it's user-controlled and he chose that animation. My point is, the shot should change depending on your location to the rim.Last edited by HoosierDaddy; 09-01-2010, 11:01 AM.Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Videos and Impressions From the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Event
So according to your statement it's perfectly cool for Shaq to attempt windmill dunks during the game while in traffic, when he will never try it or even do it during a game? I don't understand why people can't admit when something is flawed in a game. It seems like justifications must be given to flaws. A honda civic tops out at around 135-145 MPH, and a Ferrari tops out at 200-205MPH. They are both cars, but one is able to do things the other one can't. Games should be programed in this same light. If a game claims to be sim it should mimic what happens in real life. Have you ever seen Shaq doing fadeaways in real life? NO.. So in the same light I don't want to see it in a game either.
You guy's are missing the point. Can Shaq do that dunk in real life...no
Can Shaq attempt to do that dunk in real life ...yes
Would it look pretty in real life or in a game...no, but that would be your choice, a stupid one but still yours. You would only see it if you or some cheesehead online tried to do it, would you be successful at it.... probably not
I mean according to some of you why have any control over the players at all. According to your definition of a sim we should just have a RPG bball game. Make the game like Dragon's Lair from way back. Sit back and watch it all go down according to the sim and every now and then you get to choose "left" or "right".
Ridiculous. Right now if I go attempt to dunk in real life I'll bust my hump out there. But there isn't a damn thing stopping me from attempting it but my own knowledge and common sense but if someone wants to digitally recreate me and put me in a game and some dummy wants to try to dunk with me go ahead and let them try. Just don't come here pm I lost him games because I couldn't dunk.Comment

I watch alot of basketball, and yea Dirk wouldn't take that shot because he's knowledgeable enough about the game to know better, the user was notTwitter - @OtistheOriginalComment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Videos and Impressions From the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Event
I agree, but the game takes a hit when things like this don't play out realistically for someone who picks up the controller and has no idea how to play. Wouldn't you think it'd be nicer to have the correct type of shot depending on the situation regardless? If you want more variety, use the sticks, but at least have the proper shot of a basic animation.Comment

And for some people it only takes a few of those for them to just give up on the game. Case in point my cousin got to play the Elite along with me and was already giving up on the game after seeing some unrealistic stuff.
And he also didn't like the decision for all stick control either so it would be in EA's best interest to definitely clean that up. If only to keep the people interested in the game for a little longer. It'll save them a lot especially when it comes to the casual fan.
If this wasn't about sales it would be fine but these companies are trying to make money too, so they have to make sure they appeal to all types of fans.Comment

Yea I agree with you on this. This is not something that will bother people that are playing but for those that may be watching it creates a wtf!! moment.

Lol thanks I'm just trying to look at things from all angles. I for one don't mind the animations as I said in the other thread.
But I'm not just going to brush off complaints with the game just because of that. I think everyone here raises some good points and they should be acknowledged as so.Comment
