They should rename it Rec league 11 nobody on the court did anything resembling NBA players. I see high school crossovers, jumpers, defense and why are they traveling so much the game could be okay if everybody didnt dribble the same and have the same moves.

If it doesn't look good why would anyone want to play it. It it doesn't look real what is the point?? Bro i know your just trying to be optimistic, but you gotta draw the line somewhere. Your basically telling the the dev it's ok that the game looks as bad as it does, but we have "Control"

I thought they were doing away with 2 player animations and implementing physics, it seems like the opposite is true in this video

WOW - I just can't believe how far this game is compared to NBA 2K11. I was seriously planning on getting this game - for a change of pace, Live 10 had some good aspects to it last year. This year, I appreciate what EA was TRYING TO DO, though they don't have a ready to go product this year IMO. I can't get over how weird blocked shots look, the ball falls to the floor like a rock or something, the gameplay reminds me of NCAA Basketball 10 from last year. NBA Elite looks like a game in alpha stage development, everything looks rough, unpolished. What's up with the hop steps, the PG dribbling the ball 3-4 times behind his back as he brings the ball up the court, the net swishing on every shot. I liked Charlie V took the sweet jumper from the outside, looked really nice. This game is loose in it's play, everyone blends in on the floor and the overpowering dunks are a distraction. I really wanted Elite to step up this year - NBA 2K11 is so far ahead right now, it may be time for EA to concede and move on to something else, for whatever reason, they can't make a good basketball game. EA college football was fantastic this season, unfortunately the same can't be said for their efforts in developing a basketball game. Now I see why they are giving JAM for free with this game.

This looked so horrid to me (stiff, forced, unnatural, just...off) I actually just took it off my GAMEFLY Q. I was really amped when they started talking about the new mechanics and having total control over your shots and nailing that game winning buzzer beater, knowing that YOU did it. But their engine and their animations or whatever it is just don't look right. The graphics look way too cartoon-ish, and some other things. I don't know, it just doesn't look right at all. I would love for Live/Elite to become, well, Elite. Because 2 great basketball games is better than 1 and I have nothing to gain by disparaging Elite. I would really like for it to be a great game and have all the pieces fit as I really enjoy playing multiple sport titles of the same sport. If they're equally good/great, it increases said sports season for me as I can bounce back and forth between the two games without getting bored of either of them. But Elite just doesn't look like real basketball at all.

Wow...you guys are harsh...I guess I'm in the minority when I say I can't wait for the demo to see how the controls are...I think this game could be really fun...

Of course you can argue that the animations aren't great and they are sliding around but I guess it matters what you want out of a game...the other game might win out on many of the topics here but all I can say is I got bored as hell after a couple of weeks with the other game last year...

Arguments like "there were too many dunks" and "too many shots were made" are not great points because there is such a thing as sliders...I make too many shots and dunks in the other game too until I changed the sliders...

Re: NBA Elite 11 OS Exclusive Video: Oklahoma City Thunder @ Detroit Pistons

After watching the 2nd video, I'm convinced that there aren't many basketball minds working on this game. The game looks horrible and the animations are last gen. This is unfortunate. The dribbling is poor (User crossing over ever 2 secs with no rhyme of reasoning), the rebounding is poor, the post game looks horrible, the jumpshots looks terrible and the defense is not good. This game is DRY!!!!!

The post shot logic and animations are bad. It didn't look like next gen basketball at all.

And lastly, it seems that if you master the shot release, the ball will go in everytime. Which is not good and why in both of the EA released videos there were not a lot of missed shots. This game is a travesty of **** proportions.

In one of the blogs, not sure which one, EA said something about their animations not looking completely fluid but that the control is really where the game shines. After reading the blog I wasn't expecting gameplay videos to really blow me away but I am really surprised and unimpressed with these videos. EA has repeatedly said that you need to play and feel the game to judge it so I'll hold judgment until the demo, but the only way I see myself buying this game is if the control is that much better than 2k. EA has really hyped up the level of control and if it lives to the hype then any other basketball game should feel unplayable do to lack of control. But at the same time if the control under impresses just the tiniest bit EA will get ripped.

On a side note I am very surprised how bad the commentary is. I was expecting the ESPN team to bring make the audio sound very dynamic and live but instead they seem dead and bored. Not to mention their is not fluidity with what they say, it is blatantly obvious that they were in a booth reading lines. Van Gundy and Jackson have a few good lines but they do not bring anything new to the booth, besides they're catchphrases. In 2k you get a sense that the commentators are having conversation with eachother and they feel apart of the game. I was also surprised that they really don't go in depth about players or teams. For example in 2k they will talk about how a team/player performed last year, the expectations for this year, what they did in the offseason, etc. It's pretty disappointing that EA has the ESPN license yet they still look years behind 2k in terms of presentation.

Looks like a early Playstation 2 game with all the stiff/robotic movements.

                        MY OPINION

The commentary is really really dull.
-It's like the commentary for the NBA: Inside games where they only comment on the plays themselves, and not player/team specific, with interruptions, courtside interviews, and just overall random chatter.
-I expected EA to do much more with the ESPN license than just add in a new scoreboard, and stale and unenthusiastic voices of Mark Jackson, Mike Breen, and JVG, which are unrealistic and choppy in comparison to their real-life counterparts.

-The contact in the paint also seems very scarce, I mean, at 0:45, Charlie V just does a spin move and takes a jumpshot without any contact seeming to affect him when there were like 2 or 3 guys contesting and crashing into him.

-OH! AND WHY THE HECK ARE THE REFS NOT MOVING! They're ice-pivoting towards the direction of the ball!

-Blocks still sound like gunshots...and the players making the blocks jump up super fast, even when the offensive player is already like 2 seconds into his jumpshot. (2:50 with Tayshaun being blocked by Durant)

-It looks like as if the controls are either very difficult, or randomized. At 3:23, Prince had a wide open dunk, but instead did a EUROSTEP (WTF) around the imaginary defender, and missed the shot.

-I haven't seen many momentum shots, even if the player is driving a pulls up, the animation is still the same (3:36 with Durant)

-WTF happened at 4:30?? Over the back FOUL? Pistons player was boxed out by OKC player, but Pistons player still gets the rebound after an awkward animation by the OKC player which sends him out of bounds?

I got the same feeling after watching this video. And that was a dev who did that if I'm not mistaking. I will have to see what the demo is like and if the controls are just too complicated.

The euro step is a user thing. I didn't feel he had a wide-open dunk on that play, but you have to do a specific motion to do that particular move he did -- it would be hard to get mixed up with a regular dunk from my recollection.

I'm not saying it's okay because its not, the game does look extremely bad in certain spots no question on about it.

But the thing I'm asking is if you can beat a guy (or the AI) and you know that you won't have to deal with an animation or exploits determining the outcome will this stuff be okay?

If you are okay with it the dev team made a good decision. If not the dev team may have been wrong in assuming players want total control.

Maybe they just want a game that looks great more then anything else. And I'm not saying it cant look great and play great at the same time. What I'm saying is maybe users don't care for total control as much as they say they do.

So basically if this style of game isn't going to be fun to you AT ALL then the risk the devs took this year was a failure for you. And if that's the case all the devs can do is hope that a certain percentage of basketball fans like the idea of total control and can have fun with it.

This way they can establish some type of fanbase and then hopefully build it up as the game gets more on par with its competition.
