If these are the real rankings, I'm impressed. I like that they are teams that don't have a 90+ overall player. Hopefully this will make a 90+ overall player stand out even more!

I like that the top players are lower, but dislike that 77 is basically the bottom besides for a few players. I wish they were stretched out more, with the lowest at around 68-70. Oh well, just more work for me as I've re-rated every player for the past 3 years.

LOL at TJ Oshie and Cam Janssen both being 81, and Janssen being rated higher than Steen.

          Janssen 09-10 43GP 0G 0A 0PTS = 81 Overall
          Oshie 09-10 76GP 18G 30A 48PTS = 81 Overall
          Steen 09-10 68GP 24G 23A 47PTS = 80 Overall

How the bleepedy bleep is a player who hasn't scored a goal in 2 years rated an 81? Derrick Boogaard seriously? Higher then Sean Avery? I would think Avery would be around an 82-83, and Boogaard more like a 73-74.

              Agree completely.

I really like the fact that only the elite few are rated 90+. And seems for many of these players, at least with the '10' game, their potential was a C.

I'm very glad the NHL rating system isn't like the EA football games. Where there's imo...a ridiculous amount of players rated 95 to 99.

Well, first of all...Overall Ratings are overated.

Besides, these ratings might be rated per player type. You really need to see how the ratings are broken down to get a good feel for how the players will play.

Although, there is no way Patrik Berglund should be higher than Osh. TJ had a solid second season while Bergs took a major step backwards.

Like another poster said, I also change ratings before starting a chise. It's necessary as I, being a fan of the Blues, usually know a lot more about the players than someone who isn't.

I think the Blues ratings are off, but i never adjust ratings. It's too easy to boost my favorite team, while letting other teams that also got shafted keep the ratings.

As fan, I'm expecting (hoping?) that Oshie, Bergland, and Perron take major steps forward this season. I'd like to see a return to form in Boyes and Backes. But going on last season, I can see why they are not getting the love I would like them to.

Last season was a good example for why I don't adjust ratings. I was ready to ink the Blues deep into the playoffs and felt that many of he guys were underrated. By the end of the season, you would have to say the were overrated.

Now, if a guru type of guy sat down and fixed the entire NHL, and I had some reason to believe I should trust his judgement, I'd use a set of rosters. But I pretty much ignore people that are team specific in their opinions on ratings. I'm not saying they are wrong, just that fans of teams are some of the worst people to use for input on ratings.

What I'm really looking for is the spread on OVR ratings for teams. Last year they were way too tight, and it made for unrealistic sims. I'm getting the impression we are going to see that again.

I agree with you and don't be mistaken...I edit player ratings for the team I will be playing but often times, I edit guys down from where they are. Berglund, for instance, would be one of those guys. Kariya, if he were still a Blue, would be another...then Janssen.

For example, I would edit Polak up from a 76 to an 80 or so. Really, I look at individial attributes more than anything. Like Oshie, I won't accept his checking ability to be less than 85. Therefore if its turns out that it is less than 85, I change it to 85.

I'm a moralist and a purist when it comes to hockey games, thats why my slider sets are always challenging. I like to lose, honestly. So you won't see me cheesing, so to speak, in my roster edits.

Also, a lot of these ratings might be per player type. Like Janssen is rated an 81 as tough guys go, maybe? That would make a huge difference.

                        No Carcillo for the Flyers.

Syret got picked up by the Ducks months ago

I wonder when a roster update will come out to correct the roster transactions that have taken place since July
