Presuming this patch doesn't introduce any show stoppers, this'll be the final patch of the year (might be more tune files), so the thought process is "don't address too much and risk another major problem". Patch 2 seemed too good to be true... and it was. This is a modest patch that addresses most of the major problems and I hope was little enough to be tested thoroughly so we wont see any new problems.

So if there are things you consider big that didn't get addressed, understand it wasn't because they didn't look at it or didn't care. It was likely that they either fixed it and found it created another problem, or they saw the potential for it creating problems and decided to hold off until N12.

Thanks for the insight, I'll hold off on buying until NCAA 12 then when they have time to fix everything. No sense in buying an incomplete product.

Hopefully with the necessary gameplay adjustments 12 will be a must buy!

My gameplay list for NCAA 12:

      Pass blocking
      WR/DB interaction
      penalties
      route based passing
      animations
      real time physics engine
weather conditions playing a huge factor in gameplay (dropped passes, more fumbles, more slipping)
I've seen plenty of players, mostly QBs dropping back and RBs making cuts, slide in rain and snow

Kind of disappointed that they didn't work on the kickoff/punt return blocking, which is the bad part of the game. Oh well, I'll still end up playing the game without the threat of a CPU return.

It will NOT affect the recruits for the year you're currently year. The next year you play and the game generates the new recruiting poll it will affect them.

But in-season progression should kick in as soon as you download the tuner set.

And here I was in the Madden forum not too long ago touting how close to perfect the d-line interactions were. I hope this new tuning pack doesn't ruin it, because I've been able to get a realistic amount of pressure from my front four -- and even a three man rush.

nope you are 100% correct. good thing it's fixed. that was my main gripe. i wish they would also have dirty and scuffed uniforms in all situations though.

I would advise buying the game anyway. There are bugs in EVERY game, moreso for the consoles than PC since they have a limited number of patches. Anyway, once this patch comes out, it'll be the best football game ever released. Who knows what EA will try to add/change next year that we'll all gripe about after having such a good release (although with bumps) as this.

Really hope pass accuracy is realistic again

After the last patch hardly anyone drops catches and quarterbacks make almost every throw. Before they would just randomly miss at times which was great.

I've got very little playing time in this year, and just curious if you found the run game better "before" 2nd patch because it was more or less challenging? Do you expect the 3rd patch to make running easier or harder?

run game was better before the patch. the 2nd basically messed up run blocking. the CPU run game was better before so i think it should be fixed now. i found myself jacking up run blocking and reducing pass rush D. although i don't see anything about the CPU ball carrier covering the ball up still here.

Don't take me wrong, I am glad EA is fixing the issues they let get into their game, but a lot of these never should have happened in the first place.

They should have done tests before the game came out and saw their recruits were coming in too low in numerous ratings, were progressing too little, they should have saw the depth chart issues, they should have seen the scheduling issues. But I guess I should be happy they are fixing these issues....
You display a pretty ignorant view of what goes into making a video game. No offense... but the problems that made it in the game were there. Period. I am sure they tested the game as much as they could. Look, I've said this before and I am going to say it again. I am CONVINCED that the NCAA Development Team takes a great deal of pride in this game and I am CONVINCED that they love college football just as much as we do. Didn't they talk about how they grew up playing this game as well? I believe with the resources and decision-making ability available to them, they do the best they can. People forget that EA is a corporatation and the developers actually have very little say in what goes in to the game or what can be fixed.

I can imagine a room full of highly educated business people sitting in a think-tank and studying statistics on what sells, what can or can't be done, etc... Probably not even really football fans, and these are the types that make the final decisions, not the guys that put their blood, sweat and tears in the game.

I just want to thank the development team, as I know the hard hours they put in this game, the feedback that they listen to and the determination to try and make the best game that they can. This game has made HUGE strides. The season just started this past week and we're already getting our third patch next week and the tuner sets have been helpful.

I work in a prison. I have to take orders from people who sit in cushy office chairs and don't have to leave and go step out in the madness... They make all the money and they make all the decisions, but it's the officers, the cooks, the teachers that have to step inside that fence and go deal with those decisions and put them into effect. We're the ones executing and doing what we have to do keep our jobs and feed our families... In a weird way, I equate that to what developers have to deal with. Sounds weird, but that's just the way I see it.

Again NCAA Dev Team, great job!

Between this and NHL's release on the same day, EA really doesn't want me to get any work done next week.
