Re: NCAA Football 11 Patch #3 and Live Tuning Pack 3 Available, Impressions Here (PS3
I never said the game was broken. But let's not sit here and act like in-season progression is working properly if only user teams in user played games are progressing.I'm just saying, play your user games for 5-7 seasons and lets see what the results are. I can't guarantee it will make a difference, but you never know, it's worth a shot.
Again, you guys just need to take a deep breath and enjoy the game. It is far from "broken", even with progression "issues" seen in these long term sims. Just enjoy the game by playing it, and by the time you get to year 5-7 of your dynasty (when the perceived issues pop up), College football season will be over and NCAA12 will be on the horizon.
P.S. Let's get back on topic for this thread- it's an impressions thread, not a progression discussion.
I doubt you would apply the same logic to any other purchase in life, so why with an EA Sports video game?
Would you buy a car with defective passenger side air-bags on the premise that you never sit in the passenger side of your own car?Comment

Re: NCAA Football 11 Patch #3 and Live Tuning Pack 3 Available, Impressions Here (PS3
I'll send an e-mail to EA with the issue and let it go here since that's not the kind of discussion encouraged at OS.
Again though, the game itself isn't broken because of it... but it's not working as intended.
Luckily the gameplay changes introduced in the patch appear to have their desired effect.Comment

I don't think anyone has an issue with the discussion, it's just not in the right thread. Feel free to start a new thread dedicated specifically to this issue.I'll send an e-mail to EA with the issue and let it go here since that's not the kind of discussion encouraged at OS.

Not everyone plays the game like you though. It's great for those people who only play a few seasons and then wait for NCAA 12. And some people can get through 5-7 seasons in a short amount of time. Hell, I'm Already in year 5 and I don't play this game everyday. I shouldn't have to cap myself on my amount of playing time because the game isn't working properly a few years into dynasty.
A big part of this patch/tuner set was on dynasty fixes and progression. I think we are giving impressions on it here.Last edited by Buckeyes_Doc; 09-08-2010, 09:03 AM.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Re: NCAA Football 11 Patch #3 and Live Tuning Pack 3 Available, Impressions Here (PS3
I'm in the same boat as you. I've been loving the Dynasty mode since Patch #2 & Tuner #2. The depth chart issues have been annoying, and that a lot of teams are slowly getting worse has also been annoying, but I've just sort of stopped worrying about it because I'm still seeing a good relative balance in the top 25s every year. I've really had fun with the recruiting the last few seasons in my dynasty, and I'm dreading that it'll get worse than what it is. I rushed through the final few games of my last season because I didn't want to boot up and get a messed up patch for the final games... So I'm sort of glad that the 360 hasn't gotten this yet, because I'm concerned about it.Man this is such a letdown. I'm actually having fun in my Indiana dynasty right now, but now that I know what lies ahead is disappointing.
What I find unbelievable is before the release of the game, one of the biggest things EA talked about was the recruiting. How much better it and improved it was. And it looks like it's the worst it has even been in any NCAA game. This tuner set/patch was suppose to fix all this and it looks like it made it worst. What the hell is going on.
I can deal with the lack of pass defense/ pass rush/ and other gameplay issues as sliders can fix this.
But with recruiting we are screwed.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 11 Patch #3 and Live Tuning Pack 3 Available, Impressions Here (PS3
Nice analysis. This is what everyone should do before they start crying wolfe. This kind of analysis is actually helpful. The goal of the progression tweak in the latest patch is to have a similar amount of high quality players and talent level of the default rosters. Following what Block-O did earlier, I simmed to the beginning of season 2015 in order to clear out all the players from the original roster. So the only thing left are game generated recruits. The only thing differently is that I monitored the amount of 5 star players that went into the recruiting pool at the beginning of each season and made sure I got the maximum amount of high quality players in each season. So by making sure I am close to the maximum amount, any shortfall in quality players stems from lack of progression.
Prior to my test, I ran 10 recruiting batches. I saved a dynasty file at the beginning of the season and hit "skip to recruiting" in the preseason menu. From there, I counted the number of star players. On average there are about 28 5 star players and about 228 4 star recruits. The range on 5 star were 18-39 while the range on the number of 4 star players were at 220-234. So the goal was to establish the high end and shoot for that in each and every season leading upto 2015. This could also serve as a way of establishing a benchmark for doing a dynasty assuming EA doesn't patch their patch.
So in the first year of my simulation, there were 233 and 39 4 and 5 star players, respectively. In the second year, there were 236 and 35. In the third year, there were 39 and 222 players. In the fourth year, I added 235 and 37 players with 4 and 5 star ratings, respectively. Then I simmed to the beginnng of 2015 and here is what I came up in terms of number of players with 90+ ratings in comparison to the default roster.
90+ Players: 2015 vs Original (Change in Parenthesis)
QB: 17 vs 19 (Change of -2)
HB: 10 vs 28 (-18)
FB: 6 vs 3 (+3)
WR: 10 vs 31 (-21)
TE: 1 vs 3 (-2)
T: 14 vs 25 (-11)
G: 14 vs 15 (-1)
C: 12 vs 16 (-4)
DE: 18 vs 25 (-7)
DT: 15 vs 20 (-5)
OLB: 12 vs 14 (-2)
MLB: 6 vs 15 (-9)
CB: 7 vs 15 (-8)
FS: 5 vs 5 (+0)
SS: 6 vs 11 (-5)
K: 6 vs 13 (-7)
P: 1 vs 4 (-3)
Total: 160 vs 262 (-102)
# of 99 OVR: 8
# of Players with 90+ AWR: 60
Teams: 2015 vs Original (Difference)
A+: 1 vs 1 (+0)
A: 0 vs 2 (-2)
A-: 5 vs 9 (-4)
B+: 3 vs 17 (-14)
B: 14 vs 14 (+0)
B-: 11 vs 19 (-8)
C+: 18 vs 19 (-1)
C: 16 vs 12 (+4)
C-: 13 vs 7 (+6)
D+: 17 vs 7 (+10)
D: 12 vs 12 (+0)
D-: 10 vs 1 (+9)
F: 0 vs 0 (+0)
So as you can see, there is some massive degredation in talent level. The number of elite players decline, especially at RB, WR, T. Furthermore, on a team level it seems that the talent level with the exception of Alabama drops down a full letter grade.
To sum up and even with attemping to get the maximum number of high quality players in the game, the overall talent level STILL declines. This speaks of either the latest patch on progression is either not working as intended or if it is, does not come anywhere close to the stated goals of EA. In either case, EA needs to get their act together since they say one thing and do something that is completely different.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 11 Patch #3 and Live Tuning Pack 3 Available, Impressions Here (PS3
It seems like you have absolutely no clue how in-season progression is suppose to work.As far as in season progression.. i can bet $1000 that you actually have to PLAY the games to see it. B/c your players need to perform and put up big numbers to actually progress. If you are simming and players are getting their normal numbers nothing should happen. But i bet if you play a few weeks with a low 80s HB and put up 200+ yds games with mad TDs for a few weeks i bet you'll see the +1's. Russ please school these fools.

Re: NCAA Football 11 Patch #3 and Live Tuning Pack 3 Available, Impressions Here (PS3
Take it for what it is worth, this dynasty progression is better than years past when every other team is an A+ and every player is almost rated 90 or better. Not every 4 or 5 star player is going to come in 80 or better and not every 3 star will come in 60 or 70 or better. I recruited 2 FB, one a 4 star and 1 a 3 star, guess what the 3 star came in slightly better. Guess what, that happens sometimes. I love it. I also realize that I will have to redshirt a lot of freshman. It takes a real special player to play D1 college ball as a freshman, it doesn't happen a high percentage of the time. I understand a 60 ovr rated player has a chance to be an 80 rated player as a senior, a 70 rated player can get to 85 plus and a high 70 to early 80 will hit 90. This is great for me and it helps to build and understand players roles as they develop. My only complaint is that EA will help the CPU manage their depth chart better and future games will allow CPU teams to recruit to there scheme.
Overall this is the best NCAA to date, in my opinion. This game is not broken or killed. Reading some of your post I have come to the conclusion that some people need to learn about the game, what personnel groups to use, what defenses to call and when to call them.I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me!

I feel your guys pain, I do, and I appreciate the passion. I just am trying to find a middle ground. I think the NCAA guys did a really good job this year on trying to appease everyone. Not everyone plays the game like you though. I'm sorry that these progression issues have resulted in the game becoming broken for some of you. I'm honestly not trying to tell anyone how to play the game, I just think people need to at least try playing games, and perhaps wait a few days until Patch 3/Tuner Set 3 hits the 360 before rushing to judegment- for all we know this may be an issue isolated to the PS3 right now for some reason.
Again- let's get a separate thread going to talk about this and keep impressions ONLY on the patch in this thread.Christian McLeod--EA Sports NBA Live/Madden NFL Producer

Re: NCAA Football 11 Patch #3 and Live Tuning Pack 3 Available, Impressions Here (PS3
In your opinion, both LB's in that video had poor technique which caused them to run in the wrong direction(one the opposite direction of his assignment and the other moving outside while his man was in pass protection)? Sounds like this should be an issue with play recognition rather than man coverage skills. I agree with you that man coverage also deals with technique, but that lack of technique wouldn't amount to running the wrong direction, IMO.Comment

I totally agree with you, i hated how in the past every user team in online dynasty was A+ across the board now it is actually realistic.
