    Patch 3 Tuning Pack 3 - Recruits (360)

    So with all the discussion from the PS3 users, I was a little concerned about what would happen to recruits in dynasty.

    I started a new dynasty and exported all the recruits to a spreadsheet with PocketScout's recruiting tool. I think things look better in general, time will tell. Here are some brief observations:

    1 star recruits
    498 total recruits.
    Highest recruit is a 70 OVR.
    Lowest recruit is a 42 OVR.
    Average rating 52.8

    2 star recruits
    637 total recruits.
    Highest recruit is a 80 OVR.
    Lowest recruit is a 47 OVR.
    Average rating 57.2

    3 star recruits
    1179 total recruits.
    Highest recruit is a 82 OVR.
    Lowest recruit is a 53 OVR.
    Average rating 63.0

    4 star recruits
    264 total recruits.
    Highest recruit is a 85 OVR.
    Lowest recruit is a 63 OVR.
    Average rating 72.5

    5 star recruits
    28 total recruits.
    Highest recruit is a 83 OVR.
    Lowest recruit is a 74 OVR.
    Average rating 79.2

    A 1 star topping out at 70? That's not bad.

      Using the PocketScout tool is a MUCH better way to analyze the changes than people freakin out because of the 25 recruits they got (out of 3600, rediculous sample set people use to freak out like chicken little)

      Do you by chance know what the spread was pre patch?

          Here is some Patch 2 Tuning Pack 2 data for comparison. I know both of these are a sample size of 1, but I have no desire to run mutliple seasons for analysis.

          1 star recruits
          508 total recruits.
          Highest recruit is a 68 OVR.
          Lowest recruit is a 35 OVR.
          Average rating 47.5

          2 star recruits
          628 total recruits.
          Highest recruit is a 82 OVR.
          Lowest recruit is a 42 OVR.
          Average rating 57.2

          3 star recruits
          1178 total recruits.
          Highest recruit is a 83 OVR.
          Lowest recruit is a 49 OVR.
          Average rating 66.0

          4 star recruits
          264 total recruits.
          Highest recruit is a 86 OVR.
          Lowest recruit is a 64 OVR.
          Average rating 75.5

          5 star recruits
          27 total recruits.
          Highest recruit is a 85 OVR.
          Lowest recruit is a 76 OVR.
          Average rating 81.1

            Looks like the definitely improved 1 stars (thank goodness! now my 5 star kentucky team can... oh wait...)

            And the worst 2 and 3 stars are now better, and i'd say they didnt change 4 or 5 stars at all really.

            EA did say that different years have differing amounts of really good players (5s 4s) so that some years could be considered off years for recruiting.

              Uh, the only average that increased was 1* players. The average for 2* is exactly the same and the average for 3*, 4* and 5* recruits is worse.

              I like what they did with the 1* and 2* recruits, but the 3*, 4* and 5* were fine to me before the tuning.

              Of course as somebody else mentioned you would have to sim more years to get more concrete averages since the recruiting classes aren't generated the same each year.

                They've also changed (and mostly increased) progression, so maybe the starting values had to be shifted a little lower so the evolving progression model wouldn't put us back where we were with NCAA 10 (a bunch of overpowered teams and players).

                  For some positions it's not that uncommon. I had a 2*FB come in as a 73 OVR.

                    And I wouldn't worry too much about numbers off a one year sim......the classes fluctuate form year to year so much you'd get different results every time

                        yeah, it's pretty common for FBs. in patch/tuner #2, I had a 1* FB come in as a 75 ovr in one of my simmed seasons.

                          Seriously. Three-star guys are widely considered "pretty good." A 52 OVR is hardly that. I'd be happier if the average 3* was 66-68 instead of 62.

                            That's what I was thinking as well. Though maybe other classes will have those as an average, this is just one season, but I would have thought the minimum a 3* would be as a borderline 2* was 57-58, but 53.. Might as well be a walk on.

                            Bringing up that bottom, since 3* is the largest pool of players, would go well for making the game more competitive.

                              No they aren't. Not every 3* on rivals and scout end up even playing. A lot become busts and never even get on the field so I dont know how you can say that. If anything it could be lower...
