    Tuning Updates and Official News

I will edit the OP with details for each tuning update.

    Known issues / solutions:

    1) Game hangs after the first period of OTP/EASHL games.
-Make sure that the controller being used is in slot 1.

    2) Auto-backskate off does not work for online and HUT.
-The option had a severe bug in it and it had to be disabled. This will be fixed in a patch.

Sept 28 (minor tuning) Deployed at 2am PDT / 5 am EDT on Sept 28th.

-Increase post-whistle penalties when the post-whistle rules are set to Authentic.
-Small increase in goalie acceleration (part way between previous tuner and original values).
-Increase CPU player fatigue when hustling to correspond with human players.
-Increase effect of the shot accuracy slider at the bottom end (offline games only).
-Stop CPU goalie from passing the puck out sometimes even when nobody was calling for it. (OTP/EASHL only).
-Reduce tendency for aggressive goalies to skate out to play the puck in dangerous situations (HUT and Versus only)

Sept 22 (gameplay balance) Deployed at 2am PDT / 5 am EDT on Sept 22th.

-Increase maximum speed when hustling (L3).
-Easier to generate/maintain speed doing forward crossover turns.
    -Decrease goalie acceleration.
-Increase chance of penalty when a stick lift breaks a stick.
-Decrease chance of stick lift causing a dropped stick.
    -Increase to slap shot power
-Increase non-puck carrier acceleration and agility and decrease puck carrier acceleration and agility.
-Weaken shots in certain situations that were leading to goals with too high a frequency when cutting across the middle of the ice.
-Increase chance of losing balance when carrying the puck (online/HUT only).
-Increase chance of losing the puck when deking or turning sharply (online/HUT only).
-Increase chance of tripping on a poke check (undoing previous change that affected online/HUT).

For offline players these changes are on Tuner V1.03 (except those noted as online/HUT only).

    Sept 15 (gameplay balance)

The primary goal of this update is to increase goal scoring and decrease the advantages of solo, dangler style play in favor of more passing.

    The specific changes are:
    -Increase shot accuracy overall.
-Increases to shot power in some situations.
    -Increase friction on dive.
    -Increase poke check effectiveness.
-Face-off tuning, primarily to help CPU in certain situations.
-Decrease fatigue rate during odd man situations (when clock is scaled and you are limited to two lines).
-Decrease teamplay penalty for missed pass attempts.
-Small increase to pass receptions (online games and HUT, offline can adjust using slider).
-Small decrease to puck control (online games and HUT, offline can adjust using slider).
-Narrowed the range of the agility effect.

As usual we will be monitoring the effects of the changes and will continue to make adjustments to balance gameplay. For offline players these changes are on Tuner V1.02 (except those noted as online/HUT only).

    Sept 9 (reducing exploits)
-Reduce effectiveness of sharp angle goalline shots
-Reduce effectiveness of slap shots in close
-Reduce effectiveness of push puck (V1.00 negates this change for offline play).

    Sept 7 (launch tuning)
-Goalie tuning to improve his chances on certain dekes.
-Reduce the speed of right stick deking.
    -Small reduction to shot accuracy.
-Remove the prevention of pickups on goalie passes for Normal and Hardcore (so this affects online which uses Normal).
-Made it easier to trigger push puck.
-Decrease the ease with which defenders can cleanly intercept passes around the net.

Thank you, sir for the info. The auto backskate staying ON is also an issue with Offline play.

Something odd happened just now. Loaded the game and it said yet another Tuner Set was available so I downloaded it. After it downloaded I checked my tuner version and it was back to 1.0. Was 1.01 retracted somehow maybe ?

Nevermind: It downloaded again after another reboot and now I'm on 1.01

Yes this is also a problem for offline. Thanks for the update.

LOVE the developer feedback from the NHL team.

I do have one thing for you guys to look into and it involves custom music. I created a playlist for a few songs for the "Home Win" slot. When I win a game none of my songs ever play. The rest of the custom music works fine for me but for whatever reason the "Home Win" slot does not.

I think the "Away Win" slot may have a bug in it as well. If you guys could check this out it would be greatly appreciated!!!

Agreed, and I love how much better this forum is (behaviour wise) compared to the official EA forums.

No wonder the devs post here...it's a complete madhouse over there

Wow! Thanks so much for this feedback, you don't know how much it means to the community! GREAT tweaks, love the slapshot thing,

instead of making slapshots worse all around (which would be terrible) they are tweaked down for in-close shots only - PERFECT. good to see the bad angle shots fixed too, hopefully SOME will still go on though

can't wait to see what the next patch and/or tuner brings

How do you check what tunerset you have?

It's in the gameplay settings (I believe). You'll see a slider for 'Tuner Set' and you can toggle between the different versions.

It means a great deal to all of us. Sure beats guessing and/or rumors of whats going on. Thanks for proving once again that EA Vancouver is at the top of the food chain under the EA umbrella.
