Re: NBA 2K11 Video: Ten Teams in Ten Days - Day 1: Oklahoma City Thunder (Da_Czar)
Some 300+ replies in, I know I'm hella late but outstanding video. It's truly amazing how the court (and the game in general) has now appeared to have opened up all from improved playcalling and movement. My favorite part of the video by far was the display of speed differences between players. No way can Turkoglu stay with a player like Durant, and it's nice to see a mismatch like that reflected in the form of off-ball movement instead of in the form of iso's, and 1 on 1 play.
I'm going to be cross matching like crazy to hide deficiencies, substituting defensive liabilities out (and bringing them back in during late stages of a game if they are offensively inclined), taking different pursuit angles to try & get a read on a developing play, and taking advantage of my own mismatches, now that speed is being reflected in this aspect of the game. Simply excellent, and the play that was taken directly from synergy video and compared to this gameplay vid, just shows how deep they are taken this game in terms of authenticity. Another aspect of the playcalling that I liked from this video is the ability to call a play directly after an unsuccessful attempt all the while without sacrificing any of the urgency that the players move with after the initial play that was called; of course you will have to familiarize yourself with the quicker plays in the playbooks, but it beats calling out a desperation isolation play, or a pick & roll every time with 10 secs left on the shot clock. The branching, and the multiple options seems well done.
And team sets? Talk about chess being played on the court... That NBA 2K10 footage looks ancient in terms of movement when being compared to 2K11 (can't believe I tried to make that work.) The playcalling this year obviously will not be perfect (awareness, execution and look are all things that could be improved on in the feature), but its exponentially better than anything that we've seen from this series in this area. I'm going to seriously attempt to learn my team's playbook inside out so I don't even have to use the play diagram because it's worth it this year.
Sidenote/off topic (a bit): Look at how quick players are getting off jumpers without any shuffle of the feet. Right after a move is executed.
Great insightful video again. Can't believe there's more like it. I haven't looked forward to a b-ball game this much since I first seen Nash licking his fingers bringing up the ball at an early E3 event some years back. Time for an av switch....Last edited by Epiffani; 09-09-2010, 04:41 PM.

Guys, just because Czar has the go ahead to release it at 5, doesn't mean that it's in his time schedule to do so. Let's keep that in mind. He also has a day job, so IF the new video doesn't come out at 5, then cut him some slack.Twitter - WTF_OS
