Why can't anybody make a decent tennis game?

Or at least try and produce one on a yearly basis? Are they that low selling that they can't have a legitimate series out there? Tennis is a worldwide sport that I feel like many people would buy a game for if it was a GREAT tennis game. Just seems nobody wants to try and make one.

Re: Why can't anybody make a decent tennis game?

The game's story revolves around a group called the Love Tennis Club, whose goal is to travel the world spreading the joy of tennis to those who have lost their love of the sport. As boss characters from each area are defeated, they will inevitably join the club and become a playable character. The story itself is pretty shallow, but the system to level up character stats helps to make every tennis match worthwhile to get loyalty bonuses for frequently used characters, as well as new equipment to boost stats.

Top spin 3 sold 1.5m and then was stopped. I know tennis is a big sport but if you look at tennis fans you don't see alot of gamers.

exactly- alot of huge tennis fans arent the type of people to sit around playing video games.

Im just hoping the wii puts jennifer capriati tennis up on the virtual console so i can buy it, because i doubt I'll ever like another tennis game like that one.

Top Spin on Xbox was a GREAT game, so was Virtua Tennis on the PS3. My gripe was always the lack of realism as far as presentation was concerned and also the abscence of alot of top players. Only a 20 player roster in a sport that is worldwide and features alot of great players, makes no sense.

I agree. I loved TopSpin on the xbox, but from the demos I played of TopSpin 2 & 3 were disappointing.

Not that I'm huge fan of tennis games, but I would like to see them vastly improved.

Still waiting for a AAA Tennis game myself. It's been a while since Top Spin 3. We got great hockey and soccer games and a highly marketed GOLF game but no tennis?

Ever since the spring, and the college tennis season ended I got to thinking about how easy it would be for a company to cash in on a college tennis game. I mean outside of NCAA license it wouldn't cost too much. You could have tons of schools, and just a variety of courts. The best thing would be editable players. So you would have the same amount of guys and girls from each school, and then you could just do whatever. I mean Virtua Tennis 3 has awesome player models, but so do the NBA and NFL games out today. I am sure someone if they tried could make a game that could house hundreds, if not thousands of characters for a tennis game where no more than four of those characters are seen at a time.

You've hit the nail on the head no one rteally wants to make a tennis game even though it's a worldwide sport I guess they prefer making money from the ganme outdoors by way of sponsorship for racquetas and endorsements with players.
