Am I missing something? (Be a Pro - Goalie)

Every single game I have played as a goalie in Be a Pro mode has follow the same scenario :

My team (I was drafted by Ottawa) spend 95% of the time in the opponent zone and out shot the opposite team by very large margin. I played 10 games so far and receive an average of 6 shot on goal while my team as an average of 25-30 shots per game.

It leaves me with the impossible to task to maintain an 90 or above stop percentage if I only allow 1 goal a game. My current goal against average is 1.36

What am I supposed to do. It very boring when 95% of the time, I watch my team play in the opponent zone. The only shot I get are very difficult for 2 reasons :

    1. I am a little bit rusty as I have been 5 minutes between shot.
    2. When I get a shot, it is, most of the time, a very difficult one timer or breakaway.

This is a little bit frustrating while I watch my team shooting left and right very easy shot to stop. Where is the balance ? How come my team never get dominated ? How come the opposite never spent more then 20 sec in my zone, even during power play.

    Edit :
The disparities is even more visible when you compare the CPU sim stats versus mine :

    Pascal Leclaire played 13 games : GA 40, SA : 410
    Me : played 15 games : GA 18 . SA : 138

I saw this as well while playing goalie (position lock) during a play now game. I forget what difficulty level I was on but I'm pretty sure it was default settings. I literally went the the whole 1st period without a single shot on goal against me. I ended up getting frustrated and just quit.

But, I agree with the above poster that this can probably be fixed with slider settings and the appropriate difficulty level.

Kinda hard to adjust slider for the home or away team when all players beside the goalie are CPU Control.

I am having the same problem. I notice that in my games my team usually wins the faceoff 70% of the time. No matter what team I use this is usually the case. The CPU just never gets a chance to control the puck that much.

Increasing the difficulty helps somewhat with the CPU shot totals but they are rarely over 15-18 for the game while my team averages 25-30.

I have heard that changing the CPU\HUMAN aggression sliders would help, so I will give that a try when I play tonight.

It's been like this since the mode was introduced. Sliders will work, to a point, but they won't solve everything. At least for past iterations. Since there are a good handful of options this year (and they seem to work ), you may find some that work for you.

I will be in the same boat once the luster wears off HUT -- no sign of that yet, even if playing the actual games is a bit of a chore.

Sliders etc will certainly work, also make the period lengths longer (I believe 7 min was good last year) and you'll end up at least getting over 20-25 shots per game, with the odd 30 shot game here and there.

But you MUST alter sliders in order for it to improve...

I think you're misunderstanding the sliders.

All sliders that say "Human" basically mean the team that is human controlled. I.E. if you're goalie, then that human shooting acc slider controls all your AI teammates. CPU sliders will control the non-human controlled team.

It's tough for us goalies each year, but if you find the right settings, you'll find the right stats. It also heavily depends on how long you want your periods to be, because you can easily overset one team or the other, especially on different difficulties. I've found you either need to think about getting more shots against you for practiice, or having your team having an easier time scoring. But this also is heavily dependant on the team you are on....and again on top of what settings you've decided to use. But personally, I have two goalie files. One for BAP fun, where my team usually dominates, and another BAP where my team doesn't do crap, and the entire game depends on me making craploads of saves and MAYBE the team gets a goal in, but usually goes to shootout. The latter being my primary because I prefer online EASHL playing goalie.

BAP is tough because a lot of settings will work great in the majors, (I play goalie in franchise, EA cup, etc. etc) but when you go to BAP, the minor leagues, because of the wild ratings across each team, will cause some problems. If you're on a piss poor offensive team in the minors, and adjust sliders to a "fair and proper game", when you go to the majors you'll probably find that your team is much more dominant than they should be. So if you're going for realistic stats, be prepared for this.

Just fair warning - EA has not developed a proper mode for goalies, we just have to tweak what is given to us, so that it fits our needs. They did not think of goalie when they developed BAP, and goalie itself is a "weak" position when it comes to EA attention, at least for now, considering really 95% of our game is positioning, and we don't have to push a button if we're in the right spot. 4% being our posture vs our stats (standup.hybrid/butterfly vs. our appropriate stats), and 1% actually being reflexes in those breakaways/penalty shots.

This happened to me in NHL10, so I pumped the difficulty to All-Star, and changed from 5 min. periods, to 8 min. periods, and soon I faced 25-40 shots per game. (I was playing for Atlanta)
I'm a finn so don't be surprised if I spell words wrong.

I had the same problem too so I changed the difficulty to all star and messed with the sliders a bit and it helped. Longer periods also help

Here's my solution so far on getting the ai to take more shots so you can actually pratice in be a pro...

Pro difficulty (so my team can actually put the puck in the net...)
Change CPU Shooting power to 0
Change CPU Shooting accuracy to max
                      turn off offsides
One timer accuracy to 1 (this is where theyll kill you)

I'll post some numbers later but with these setting i see a fairly good amount of shots even in the 4 min periods im using. (I'm just trying to unlock stuff for my eashl goalie so im trying to streamline things while still getting some good practice in)

It's almost as if with the CPU accuracy all the way up the CPU shoots all the time at any little hole it sees cause it thinks it can bury it, but with no power you actually have a chance of stopping it...
