    Texas @ Texas Tech

Interesting game. I don't know much about Tech yet and Texas hasn't really blown me away with their performances against Rice and Wyoming.

When I looked at the line for this game it was Texas -3. That's a real fishy line if you ask me. I think the casual fan will look at the line and jump on Texas.

I thought Texas would win in a blowout before I saw that. Vegas isn't stupid. They know this line will get a lot of action on Texas so that means Vegas must really like Tech in this spot.

Is there anyway Texas loses this game? I just don't see it happening. Texas has one of the best defenses in the nation and more athletes than Tech. Tech is also breaking in a new coaching staff.

    Should be interesting. Thoughts?

If Texas is still running their high school short passing game they were doing the last few years Tech might have a chance.

I don't know what kind of defensive talent Tubs has, but if he could shut down Meyer's MNC and Heisman teams, I think he can take Texas. Then agin, he's probably a few years out from having the talent to run his system.

Tech has a lot of underclassmen and Juco transfers on defense. the "strength" would be an experienced LB corp(all of which played a good amount last year or 2). Tech seems to have a pretty good pass rush though, at least they are getting a good number of sacks like they have been the last few years(tied for 2nd in the nation after 2 weeks this year). but then again that was against SMU and New Mexico. means nothing.

on offense, the OL has been a little shaky with the new players. I still think Tech would be better off with Sheffield at QB(more mobile, and the offense usually seem to "flow" better with him in there), but I don't get to see them practice so I can't see what the coaches see.

I want to pull for Tech, but I just don't see it happening this year. it's not the team from '08. the biggest thing Tech has in their favor is that they play pretty good at home the majority of the time.

Lyle Leong has been the go to WR so far this year. if some miracle play happens this year like in '08, it would likely come from him(by no means trying to compare him to Crabtree).

Texas offensively has looked incredibly flat, uninspiring and unmoving against Rice and Wyoming. It's almost boring to watch.

If anything, GD's play calling should keep Tech in the game, no matter what.

Bevo fans are ecstatic that Texas has found a running game, but that was against two teams who last year gave up almost 200 per game on the ground. I'm interested to see if GD will stop 'Sanchizing' Gilbert this week against a team that has a pulse.

Tech always gives Texas trouble in Lubbock. I am sure it will be a close, hard fought game.

This is the first time that I have EVER thought Tech has a better chance to win than Texas.

We will learn a lot about this Texas team this weekend.

The genius behind shutting down Florida those years is coaching in this game but not for Texas Tech.

You mean the guy who explicitly said "this is not my defense"?

Auburn ran almost the exact same system every year under Tuberville, and I would imagine he's likely running it at Tech because I saw a DE or OLB with dreadlocks sacking the SMU QB a few weeks back. For all of his faults he's probably the second best DC in college right now aside from Saban.

I expect Texas to win by 10 or so. Tech is still adapting to their 3-4 scheme and I expect Fozzy Whittaker, who will start RB for Texas, to have a monster game. Texas also has 0 turnovers this season, and as long as they keep that up I dont think Taylor Potts can lead his team to score many points against Texas without a short field.

Didn't Potts and Tech play Texas pretty close last year in Austin? I wan to say that was a 7 point game but I don't remember off the top of my head.

Yeah they played them pretty well. Potts had like 450 yards on 70 attempts which was insane. Even more so because it was 10-3 Texas at halftime and the only TD was on a punt return. But like last year I think Tech can get a lot of yards but will not have many points to show for it. Texas will also play ball control with the run game which should limit Tech's opportunities. Their offensive line also has been unimpressive so far.

The more I think about this game, the more I feel like Texas D is going to win this one for them.

Last year, Muschamp pretty much just manned up the WRs and blitzed like crazy. If that plan works again Tech might have trouble, and Potts may be looking out his earhole... again.

                          Fun thing to watch:
                          Tech O-Line's BLATANT Holding.

in Lubbock 08, they held Texas' D-line so bad they injured a couple of them. Then in Austin '09 TTU got called for a holding on their very first offensive play( and a few after that too). Should be interesting to see how that little storyline will play out.

This will obviously be a good gauge for what kind of team Texas has. You couldnt tell a whole lot against Rice or Wyoming and the Longhorns were extremely vanilla the first two weeks

The defense will have to be one of the best in the nation for Texas to have a shot at the conference this season. Tech will certainly put that to the test
