Overall, the defense is really good. But the offense is super stale. What kind of stuff are you guys doing to score( in a non-cheesy drive and dunk way)? I mean, they still haven't created what it feels like to be in control of a player and the interaction between a defender and an offensive player. There is no iso game for the jumper, and even when you do get an iso jumper it doesn't look or feel real. It's just like you wiggled and he moved to the side and then you shot a jumper.

The players look disinterested in the action, they don't move well and they seem unfocused on the ball or anywhere outside if their animation. It's like everyone is in a little bubble... animated perfectly, but since they don't take into account everything outside of the bubble (unless the animations are being affected by the players getting too close) it looks extremely dry.

I can't even get hype for the unrealistic dunks, either. Everything on the offensive side of the ball is extremely weak to me. On defense, I like a lot of the subtle details that they added, but it would be nice to have that sort of control on offense, too.

I'd be very disappointed but I didn't expect it was going to be totally different like people say it will be every year. But I was expecting a better demo.

I still think 2k8 is more responsive and gives a better brand of basketball, by far.

    Edit:

My last game was a blowout... 4 to 1... lol.

I am not sure about the demo either. Compare this to 2k7 is night and day...i am not feeling like i am in total control of the player. The game is just slow just like any other game since 2k7. When i used Fisher to try to steal the ball, he did a lunge forward animation and i can not stop the animation. I am still feeling like there is .5 sec in delay in control responsiveness. I thought i heard them say that it's more responsive..well, it ain't nothing like 2k7 that's for sure. If i want to move a player, i don't want to drag them ..i want to feel responsive and do what i want the player to do and do it quick.

I might still give this game a try just because they added so many features. But man i have to play by its own rule...which is a slow pace basketball game.

i agree. they have never really been able to match that responsiveness since 2k7. I understand that they are trying to make it more realistic with momentum and all that, but it still just feels sluggish..like you said, you feel like you are dragging your player around, not controlling him. once I get the full game, maybe i will just bump up the game speed by 10 percent and that will do the trick for me.

I thought the other game last year had just about a perfect balance of momentum and control...the players had weight, but it still felt very responsive without looking unrealistic...2k11 seems like a step toward that, but they're just not quite there yet in terms of responsiveness of the animations to your control input.

That's just not true. I'm not here to defend 2K but I try to look at things with perspective. Saying they look like imposters is pretty far from the truth. Kobe and Derek look good, comparing it them year to year. There's no 2K game in the past who had them looking better.
I guess I should have prefaced my comments with in my opinion. Your truth is your truth and mine is mine. You can obviously tell who the players are but, something is off about them in my opinion. From a distance they're fine but, up close meh. It's not a big deal but, it's like I'm playing with Kobe's brother. It's kinda like how Charlie Murphy and Eddie Murphy look damn alike but you really don't mistake one for the other. That's how some of the players look to me. Just off enough to be somewhat distracting.

I've seen more sim aspects on PRO DEFAULT this year than any other year.

I'm talking charging fouls, blocking fouls, appropriate shooting fouls, over the back fouls, all at moderate to low frequencies... I could NEVER obtain that on any pro default 2k game, EVER.

With a slider influence, gamer style influence, and difficulty influence, I'm just salvating at the chance to play the full version. The amount of OTB fouls is on par with what you see with a HEAVY slider influence last year or the years prior. So for it to be like this on default.
Also. I've had two of Kobe's dunk BLOCKED. Would that ever happen on PRO any other year? That's maybe out of 20 completed dunks... Again, a small percentage, but a percentage I like.

btw, I popped in CH2k8. Ultimate control. I was impressed with that and started to wonder about 2k11..But is that even realistic in the slightest? Where is the momentum? Momentum and responsive controls dont really go together if you think about.. Why should I be able to break out of an animation when my player is going right and I want to take him left without any bit of "momentum" feedback.

Ask yourself what you want? you may just want to go back and stick with 2k7. Control was real nice, but does it make sense?

You should able to fake pass off the dribble with any player who has a good enough pass/ball handling rating. Not sure why pressing B (or circle) off the dribble wouldn't be enough to trigger the move. That seems to be the simplest way to map it.

I agree man, im just referring to Kobe's hops

Guys are going on about his dunks as if they never read the different type of modes you can put the game on. Lots of great stuff happening in this game though, i just didnt record everything, especially the AI man... they were doing some very sick stuff.

I've also seen some blocked dunks.. some nasty stuffs by Ray Ray.. one by PP that you'll love when you see someone like LeBron do it and overall ID -esque AI that I just cannot get enough of

Even with this bare bones demo I can tell the "too many assists" problem will still be in this game. This has been an ongoing problem for several years now. There are to many catch and shoot scenarios which tend to inflate the assist numbers and not enough shoot of the dribble shots - and I still think the assist coding is flawed (this is one of the things the other game gets right).

Wang and his boys need to talk to the NBA to learn how assists are credited.

YES! This is out of many, many games so it doesn't happen often. On two occasions...

I was controlling Fisher, hard cut-off to the baseline (right wing), Rondo changes directions and Fisher dances his way out of bounds, lol

Second, I had Kobe on a fast break, 1-on-2 I believe, catch it on the left side make a quick change of directions with a cross or hopstep, can't remember which, and Big Baby, who was the closest to the hoop of the two (yet still close enough to react to Kobe) stumbled and believe FELL back and I think I drained the shot.

My HD is yet again gonna be FULL of replays this year.

Just played two games in the past half-hour. First game, I noticed that everytime I helped out on Rondo, he'd kick it to the open man (Garnett) who'd drain the EASY shot.

Second game, I helped out much less (and with Bynum) leaving Perkins open. Rondo had to kick it out.

What I think is going to happen is people will have to make decisions. If you decide to help out on the guards, they'll find the open man who will most likely shoot the set shot. If you don't help out, guys like Rose, Rondo, and others will have the ability to get a good, high percentage shot at the rim.

That's actually how it should be. The problem USED to exist in the fact that no one moved EVER and once the AI passed, the computer shot regardless. No moves to create separation...this year, off passes, the AI tries to see if there a better shots to take and is willing to move after the pass to attempt a higher percentage look.

                                I'M IN LOVE.
