I have not played the demo. However, in 2K10, Y (or triangle) had a series of functions. Y while going to the basket performed the aforementioned hop step. Modifier plus Y performed the drop-step-ish spin (that often resulted in charges or travels). Holding back on the left stick while pressing Y however, performed a step back maneuver (one of which I very much enjoyed).

Is the word that Y will still do this in 2K11?

I think for the normal hop-step, it's just going toward the basket and pressing the button.

They all pick up your dribble so be prepared to shoot or fake.
Thanks for clarifying. I'm wondering if they should rename the button to the "Gather" button rather than "hop-step." It's rather misleading given the amount of functions it has.

Okay, thanks! I didn't know that the modifier (LT/L2) affected the Y/Triangle button!

      I've been missing out! LOL

Thanks, that's what I was sort of thinking... that, or it depended on the position on the floor + defense. Good stuff, I can't wait to get to work with Melo and the jab steps ha.

Am I the only one who can't figure out this "flick flick" stuff? All I'm getting is basic pumpfake to spot up j.

I've experimented with it in triple threat, off the dribble, in the post (which gets me an up and under, but we all knew that). What exactly is supposed to happen, and what am I doing wrong?

                Two questions:
                1. pushing the RS towards the rim on a fastbreak while using R2 does a "signature dunk", does anyone know what exactly does this mean? Is it like Jordan's free throw line dunk? and has anyone seen Kobe's in the demo??
                2. Maybe someone can help me with this, but i can't figure out how to do the Rondo-esque fake pass while driving the rim? i did it once by holding L2 and pushing the RS some way, not sure though

                Thanks!

eh, I hope they didn't make the game into a contest of stick skills.

This year seems like it will be very skill based.

Definitely not, it's just that the demo offers very limited options offensively, the only 'easy' thing you can do is work on your isomotion and shot stick skills...unless you want to work on your PnR

It will definitely play a large role, as it should. I would hate to play against someone who just holds turbo and moves the RS in random directions and yet still be able to score.

But basketball IQ and strategy will stay play a large role. If you're worried that someone can dominate with the Lakers just by running 12 Island (big ups to the Czar for those vids) well that is how it should be. The onus is on the defender to stop it.
