Is NCAA 11 the 2k5 killer?

Obviously I'm comparing college vs pro, but I'm talking about all the little things that people have enjoyed in 2k5: cutscenes, presentation, etc.

I personally feel that NCAA 11 is now THE best football game.

    What say you?

I think NCAA 11 is the best game, but if 2k were to make a college football game this year, I do think it would be better.

Grant it this is the best college football game to date, but 2k5 still did some things that Madden and NCAA still don't do. Like animated sidelines, scrambling QBs, diverse user controlled tackles, better RB running AI, better halftime show.

They getting there, but not quite there yet.

First, 2k5 is long dead. Don't get me wrong because I think it's a legendary title, but it's no longer in contention for the football crown. Alot of things are outdated and it's generally very hard to go back to.

Second, While I think NCAA 11 is great and all, I don't feel about this game the same way I felt about 2k5. And like people have been saying, many things in 2k5 have not even been realized in either of EA's football franchises.

So I'll take the middle ground, though I think there are still maybe 2 more installments before we get it at around that level.

The starting line-ups, halftime show, and "ESPN sky-cam" caught me in awe when 2k5 came out. And of course, they're 3 extremely easy things to put into the game. I just don't understand how features in an outdated football game are still NOT in "next-gen" games.

As far as the "little things" go, ncaa 11 does try incorporating some of them, but allota of these little things are really glitchy/feels like they were thrown in there last second just to say there in there.
Like today i was playing a game and at halftime for some reason they were showing the cut scene that plays at the end of the game when they show the home team walking to the locker room, high fiving the crowd

Gameplay wise, I think NCAA 11 is one of the best games in year. As far as presentation/atmosphere goes 2k5 blows any other football game out of the water.

I do not understand why NCAA does not fully take advantage of the ESPN license. Outside of the pre-game and the scoreboard it isn't really in that game. Where 2k5 had halftime shows, weekly shows, a lot of stat overlays, starting line-ups, etc.

I love NCAA 11, but the presentation just isn't there.

Was it a "Yeah! We won the game" High five or a "Yeah! We're leading at halftime" High five? I'm partly joking, but I kinda wanna know if I'm missing a cutscene.

Let's see...last year my red shirts didn't get saved...this year my cuts didn't save...needless to say, my OD is in ruins thanks to EA's crappy programming.

2K5 is a much better game for its time period than NCAA 11 is for its time period. I dont think its fair to compare the 2 directly considering NCAA 11 has 6 years of technology and innovation over 2K5.

Well said...there are stuff in 2k5 still not in current gen games...and I am still desperately wanting tiered play calling for D

Wasn't 2k5 the one where you could play from the view inside the helmet?
Though, not being the best way to play a franchise, it sure was fun for exhibitions.

no - i was the home team and i was losing! Obviously this cut scene didn't belong going into halftime

Re: Is NCAA 11 the 2k5 killer?

I loved 2k5, but NCAA is the better game. In 2k5 the CPU passing game would always be 50% or less with at least 3 INTs, lack of yards after the catch, and every run was either a huge gain or no gain at all. It was also really hard to avoid getting sacked less than 4-5 times/game.

It was a great game and had better commentary, presentation, sidelines, and the shows and stuff, but there were definitely things in that game that would be considered "game killers" if they were to happen in Madden (mainly the CPU INTs). 2k5 was great for its time and especially for the price, but that was over 5 years ago.

NCAA 11 has far fewer annoyances and plays a more realistic game of football in my opinion (as far as stats, scores, etc.) It's the better game.
