Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available For PS3, Later Today For 360, Post Impressions Here
Am I doing something wrong. Where is the icon passing. I need to catch Kobe on the break and the middle man is either Gasol or Bynum slowing things down.
On a controls front, Is there a camera relative/basket relative option? Going left to right when my guy should, in control theory, go up to down, is throwing me off. I'm giving this game a fair shotLast edited by RubenDouglas; 09-21-2010, 03:37 AM.Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available For PS3, Later Today For 360, Post Impressions Here
I liked the presentation and the beginning of the demo. the tutorials were good, and I liked the control scheme it presented..not a big learning curve like 2k11 and good ideas as far as the controls, it showed promise in practice mode. Got to the game, liked the crowd and the noise, not bad commentary...and Tip Off time... after the 1st minute, I was ready to turn the game off, I had to push myself to finish out this quarter of bad basketball could not believe how terrible the game looked and how the AI played. Don't know the direction they wanted to go with this one, (Sim or Arcade) but they definitely went BACKWARDS. I enjoyed playing NBA 09 more than this, definitely not a game I can see myself playing for a year's time... If anything...EA should bring back NBA Street like it was for the PS2, this game is disgusting, NBA Live 10 was 10 times better than this and 10 times more fluid.Comment

Damn .. I don't like when companies do this man .. now that reAnimator guy has to sit on the battle front and fight all these troops ... I feel your pain man. I know you wont admit it .. but damn. For a second.. I was like .. relatively speaking .. EA will get their money .. but a lot of Live's fans will be dissappointed. Man, this will probably feel like a 12 year old getting clothes for Christmas when his best friend got Sega Genesis ...
Wooow. Hang in there tho man - I hope you're on clock for these posts.
I'm as much of a video game geek as everyone else here, so it's something I enjoy.
I was hoping to play Red Dead for the first time tonight (Elite took me out of the video game world for too long) but responding here was just too tempting.
Maybe tomorrow...Comment

I think the big lesson here is if you want to make an arcade game, make NBA Jam. You can't straddle the fence with some type of sim/arcade hybrid. You guys were on to something with Live 10. Change the name back and build on it instead of trying to reinvent the wheel. Just throw rims on it!
Seriously though, if you want to get your arcade basketball development jones off, you should just focus on Jam. You don't see the Madden devs making some weird Madden/Blitz hybrid. Pick a side man....Comment

Let's keep things respectful and constructive here guys... I don't know how else to say it. No 2k comparisons, impressions only...people will be looking for impressions on the demo , not on 2k's demo, not on EA's corporate strategy. Your posts should basically follow the format of pro-con. Again, be constructive.Comment

With the 2 of us though, is it really for the Wrong reason? We are clearly attached to this series because of memories, and the association with these games can bring us back in time as well. Throw in NBA Jam, and that is money well spent to me. I wish that this was marketed as NBA Jam w/ NBA Elite 11.Comment

I wonder if Mike Wang is allowed to comment in this topic? I wonder what turned him off from NBA Elite, if not everything. I was really liking what he did for the past few seasons of NBA Live, but 2K had too much earlier success and it basically left Live playing catch up.
Now Elite gives us a completely new product, I don't know if hardcore basketball games who love Live/2k have the patience to test out this game. Anyways, I'm getting used to the passing and I'm enjoying getting the ball into the paint to Gasol and scoring with him.
Anyways I just read the mod's comment, I'll stop mentioning 2k.Last edited by KeepItReal420; 09-21-2010, 03:41 AM.Comment

With the very solid review from last season, and Live 10 being the strongest Live to date, why was there a need to make this extreme 360, and completely change the series? With the Demo impressions extremely negative at this point, and stating that the demo is nearly the final product, it will not look like a strong year for the EA team, and I am really curious as to why the series changed? If you stayed on track from last year, made the graphics even better than they already were, fix glitches, add features and even more authenticity, you are on for a solid year. This years graphics have gone back to a much lower quality, the gameplay is jerky, and it is not an AUTHENTIC NBA experience. Gamers, and people in general like comfortability. This may mean that they need to get warmed up to the new game, however it is a big risk to take. 2K has maintained it success by offering virtually the same product year in and year out, but by enhancing their product each year, the series manages to dominate. I know that I am not alone on this, and I am sure that many more of us would have preferred a smoother, more authentic version of Live 10, than this extreme version of a video game, that lacks authenticity.

Hey EA, keep Live 10 online alive until whenever the next Live series will be back.Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available For PS3, Later Today For 360, Post Impressions Here
I played the demo a lot tonight.
1. The freedom of movement(even if a little slide here and there) is nice.
2.For the first time, I'm conditioning a part of my brain I never have before when playing NBA games. I feel like I'm actually translating my real life control of the ball into the game, which is weird and which is why I haven't won a game yet, this will take lots of discipline to grasp.
3. I performed a few moves I've never done in a basketball game. KG was in the post, he turned, threw the ball off the backboard then dunked it over bynum, in a realistic, contact everywhere, bodies flying, sort of EMPHATIC WAY.
4. Shooting with Ray Allen finally feels great. In the past I would release perfectly and he would miss or make 50/50, now I know when I'm off on the timing and angle and I know when I'm on. It feels VERY REWARDING. Again, feelings I've never had before in an NBA game.
I'm not judging the aspects which were not focused on by the development team, as there is no point, everyone knows it needs attention and it will get it obviously.
Overall, the demo succeeded in providing a refreshing game play experience and if I'm only judging it on the controls, I give it a 9/10.
And the announcers are AMAZING. I actually felt like I was listening to the real telecast, they make the immersion factor of the game that more palpable.
Thank you for sharing.Comment

Played a become legendary mode and the AI was awful. No ball movement. Basically the point guard just dribbled until the shot clock was almost out then shot it. The animations are the poorest in any sports title this year. The jumping is herky jerky. The Sig shots are not nearly close enough to be considered authentic. Ray Allen doesn't have his quick release. For those saying it looks like NBA 09 the life, I think that is a fair comparison visually.
Controls are responsive but analog control should only go so far. Jumping using the analog stick and playing defense strictly using the stick is not satisfying at all. I just can't see spending $60 on this.
I downloaded the live 10 demo just to compare. It really is touch to look at this when you see what was there last year.Does a cheetah stretch before it chases its prey?
