Why can't I control the quarterback in shotgun after the ball is snapped?

I don't know if this has been addressed but whenever I select a passing play out of shotgun, after the ball is snapped, the QB hops around and then I am able to control him instead of having control of him as soon as it's snapped. Is this a glitch or something? Normally when I get the ball I can go but not in madden 11. Am I the only one with this problem?

I just wonder why it's like that. NCAA isn't like that and if I recall correctly, no other EA football has done it. Why now. If the defense is blitzing on the out side, I can't just go. I have to wait until he is done hopping around then scramble. Seems odd to me.

What formation are you in?

Are you the wildcat or a special package. This happens to me in the wildcat (haven't called it since the first couple times I tried it or when I bring Tebow in his package in a run situation).

I haven't noticed similar difficulties in any normal formations.

There are lots of variations of the shotgun formation which was why I asked. I'm assuming neither of my scenarios hold true?

Every shotgun formation. I use every formation in the shotgun playbook and it happens.

I believe the game is programmed to make you drop back before giving you control of your player so you don't cheese the QB run all day if you have someone quick like Vick or Vince Young.

Good point, I guess you would only notice this if you took the snap and tried to move forward quickly all the time.

I guess that's why I don't notice it, I just let the drop back happen.

It's QB auto dropback. This was put in by Ian and his crew back in madden 10 to keep people online from running with the QB outside of the pocket right after the snap. I've sent Ian a few twitts over the concern about this. It hurts your gameplay more then help. If the AI is blitzing you while in Shotgun or trying to do a screen pass. The AI chances of sacking you is high. I don't like it one bit. They add this in madden 10. It seems it was taken out while you are under center. But once you do a play from shotgun. It is there. It is annoying. I'm hoping Ian will remove this in the patch coming out at the end of this month.

This happens on screen plays and that's the worst because you have basically no blocking on screen plays.

The problem is you can't drop your QB fast enough sometimes with the cpu auto drop, causing easy sacks. Really sucks!

actually hadnt noticed it till u guys mentioned it but the reason ur getting sacked is because ur trying to out run the pressure in a shotgun formation or a long drop u need to step into the pocket to allow ur T's to get an angle on their outside rushers try it actually works very well.

It is becuase the game has a designed "qb drop back drop"

in years past numerous complaints of people "cheesing" by running back to avoid pressure and then complete a pass pushed EA to add in a ridiculous animation for every drop back.

Mix in bad snaps with the auto drop back and you have the most crippiling gameplay animation the game has ever scene.

It really takes away from the gameplay when you are in the shotgun. If I know a blitz is coming and I only have one back to pick it up, I'm still stuck in that animation and would like to avoid the sack when two or more come. I could get rid of the ball quicker but it would be nice to scramble out to get more time.

it has been in the game for the past two seasons and its VERY frustrating. Its one of the worst features the game has ever added. It cripples the game so much so that somtimes the game seems not playable.
