I have spent time with both demos. In FIFA, the cpu attacked me the same way over and over again. Straight up the middle. Defense was easy. Take it away in the circle, almost every time. Once the cpu had a breakaway- had a teammate to his left. My keeper commited to the man with the ball. Did the cpu pass it over for an easy goal? Nope, he just dribbled INTO my keeper, who was spralled on the ground. No goal. This is my biggest problem with FIFA. No finishing creativity.
On the other hand, in the PES demo, the cpu has scored from 35 yards out. Scored on free kicks. Passed it in the box to score. Etc... No 2 goals ever the same. On offense, it has played triangle, trying to waste time, switched the ball from left to right with a high ball just over midfield, not an early cross into the box. Any number of real world tactics, it has done it. I am thoroughly impressed with it this year.
I just hope all my edited teams cross over into pes 11.Comment

Re: Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 Demo Roundtable
Of course it does PES has great depth in tactics and creativity just like a true soccer game and where FIFA Lacks in depth they more than make up for it in the organic department. FIFA is smooth as butter with 360 movement-tons of animations of players constantly sticking their legs out, keepers changing direction in the air etc...... whereas in PES I would leap with joy when I see a striker making an awesome move past a defender but then I am greatly dismayed when you look at that same defender and see he was standing absolutely still.
Purely from an aesthetic point of view FIFA looks like soccer whereas PES plays like soccer.Last edited by cadalyst17; 09-22-2010, 10:19 AM.Comment

Re: Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 Demo Roundtable
Im not sure this even makes much a difference. That is just how Fifa plays. I doubt by release they have completely revamped how teams play. They've spent the whole off season creating Personality+ for players, but they should've also done some kind of Personality+ for how teams actually play. And what makes it even worse is Personality+ doesn't even make players play like their real life counter parts, its just shows how good they are at shooting and passing. Personality+ doesn't make Ronaldo take on defenders and do a bunch of stepovers. Instead Ronaldo does the same moves everyone else does.

Just casually looking at the game and taking into account players personalities, variations in attack, spacing, etc... I can't see how anyone can say that FIFA looks like what I watch on TV. To each his own. I will say that FIFA is much easier to pick up and play than PES.Comment

Re: Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 Demo Roundtable
I disagree completely. In any Professional game I always look for player authenticity, differentiation between teams/clubs, and realisitc outcomes. I didn't get any of these with FIFA '10. Maybe that will change with the retail version of FIFA but I can't really tell off the demo yet. The AI last year in FIFA '10 was so predictable and just didn't make sense. For example lower sides would all out pressure much better clubs all around the pitch for 90 minutes, they would pass with the precision of Barca, and opposing strikers would pull off ridiculous moves they are not capable of.
