I don't play a whole lot online so I guess I don't get the whole "Online Association" chatter that people want. So someone please explain to me the nuts and bolts of "Online Association" and what y'all want it to do. Only game I do play online is MW2. I mean, if sports games didn't have that lag in them that they do (makes playing online awkward and I have a direct connection in my PS3), I'd probably would play more. Sorry for those of you who are really disappointed...but I'm good with everything they are bringing this year. -

LMAO!
That may have been the worst execution I've seen on OS.

Re: NBA 2K11 Developer Insights: Association
It started off as a dumb quick joke...But people responded like it wasn't.
So I said, F-it, and ran with it just to get the point across that it was obvious I was messing around. lol
I was bored. Ha.Comment

Re: NBA 2K11 Developer Insights: Association
As I expected, another knockout of an insight.
As you guys can see, we’ve put a lot of work into The Association this year. So many developers out there tend to ignore their franchise modes for years on end. At 2K, we realize this is where you spend the majority of your time, so we are constantly working to improve the experience year-over-year. With the changes we have made this year, I can honestly say this is the best ‘franchise’ mode the company has ever put out, and it’s not even close.

Re: NBA 2K11 Developer Insights: Association
Advanced metric stats? Sold.
I may actually start an association this year to play occasionally when I'm not online, this sounds too go to pass up.
Plus, playing vs. the AI this year is actually enjoyable. That always helps.Comment

Re: NBA 2K11 Developer Insights: Association
Outstanding stuff there! Generated player photos, improved sim results, much improved NBA Draft presentation, beefed up AI trade logic... now that's what I'm talking about!
Let's hope all of these things work as intended. We've heard "improved trade logic" before and ended up dealing with AI teams trading away a player and then bringing him back with another trade a few days later.
this is gonna be the nfl 2k5 of basketball, lets do a recap
*basically fixed every gripe with 2k10
*revamped(fixed) controls
*added a freakin micheal jordan mode
*all-new myplayer mode
*fixed all the problems in association while adding alot
*new playcalling system
*better presentation across the board
*extremely intelligent AI
*listened to the community(to me the most important)
all thats left to make it a full sweep is the online(i dont play as much). Which they said they were working on and testing stability a few weeks ago
1) Will there be in-game saves this year?
and
2) Any word on a Super-Sim feature?My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague
Alabama Crimson Tide
Green Bay Packers

Re: NBA 2K11 Developer Insights: Association
They sold me on the Dynamic Attendance FINALLY being implemented and the Draft Day Deals that can be made. Can't wait for this and I hope these next 10 days go by real quick for me lol.#RespectTheCultureComment

I'm really glad they gave generated players real pictures again! Those grey head outlines were so annoying to me that I wouldn't even use draft picks in my association.76ers '55 '67 '83

Re: NBA 2K11 Developer Insights: Association
I mean actually yea for me personally it is kind of a deal breaker. I find minimal entertainment in playing against the CPU so offline association rarely gets any playtime from me. ive run it a couple of times with my bros as other users in the association but thats very limited since we only end up with about 4 user teams. The new features and stuff are great but at the end of the day most of these features are geared towards improving CPU Logic and making the CPU be as realistic as possible. No matter how many features and logic you add at the end of the day you will never completely replicate the thrill and entertainment that comes with actually competing and running a team against other actual users. Theres just an immense sense of satisfaction in pulling off a trade with another user and negotiating that will never really feel like wash rinse and repeat. the Competition, the fact that users can get better, the satisfaction cant really be replicated with a CPU.
I only brought up madden because its practically a huge example of how even a bare bones franchise mode online can be that much more exciting to run because of user interaction. NCAA takes it a step further, have you tried their online dynasty mode? it has recruiting, etc, the whole nine yards.
I know that 2k is capable of implementing something of the sort, resources are not an issue because they can use the same type of system. you simply host the association on a server and let people run it online and it all becomes simple data input. make a trade, sign a player, etc. and the information goes to the server.
Hopefully they actually do have something like this in the works and will be announced in the Online Insight. It was disappointing enough that Madden didnt implement a more fleshed out version like the one in NCAA but for a sports game to not have it at all is just a huge omission in an industry that is mostly dominated by online gaming.
Once again not trying to hate, but its close to a deal breaker for me and disappointing for many people. Some will not care and thats fine. just wanted to voice my concern so that its taken into account next year.
You make it seam like thats a deal breaker, "severely disappointed" seems like you were expecting it over all the other stuff added. As difficult it is for ea to have online Franchise/dynasty modes you have to look at the bare bones experience you get,(as well as only 14,19 games in each season). All those games have is play, trade, recruit/draft, sign, rinse and repeat. A complex franchise mode like 2k it would be extremely difficult and resource consuming to put that in, especially considering everything they've done this year. "Seriously disappointed" lol. I'll be waiting for someone to say that the sock glitch is a dealbreaker now!Comment

Nba 2k11 is going to be the best, but wonder during playoff time will the home fans be dress in the team colors for example miami heat fans wore all white during the playoffs in 2006. And I hope they can add the champainge celebration this year.Comment
