    Megatron's Heisman Sliders

    Megatron’s Heisman Sliders (ver. 1.1)

After months of patches, tuning packs, and testing, I have finally settled upon a set of sliders to start a dynasty with. Special thanks to Fistofrage whom I’ve worked closely with the last few weeks helping him develop his slider set.

These sliders are for players who are looking for challenging, realistic games, but are still a lot of fun to play. As for difficulty, I see these as being a step up from Heisman default. They’re similar to the sliders put together by Fistofrage, but these open up the offense a little and give you a fighting chance against good teams. Also with these sliders, it is less likely that you will get owned by a much weaker team.

I will be starting a season with a new team tomorrow, and I will report back all statistics in an effort to provide you with a good indication of what you can expect to see in games with these sliders. I've already done some testing by playing several games with Kentucky, but these are still a work in progress. After the first season is over, further tweaking of the sliders may be required. Feel free to plug and play with this set, and provide feedback.

    House Rules:
    1. Use GT: Romancaesar rosters.
    2. No run commit.
    3. Use aggressive defensive line play.
    4. Call FG Return when the CPU goes for extra long FGs.
    5. No User Catching
    6. On defense, play as the DT, and do not switch. No exceptions.

    Gameplay Options
    Skill: Heisman
    Recruiting: Heisman
    Quarter Length: 8 minutes
    Game Speed: Normal
    Speed Threshold: 45

    Penalties
    Offsides: 85
    False Start: 85
    Holding: 55
    Facemask: 55
    Offensive Pass Interference: 55
    Defensive Pass Interference: 55
    KR/PR Interference: 85
    Clipping: 55
    Intentional Grounding: 75
    Roughing the Passer: 60
    Roughing the Kicker: 60

    User Sliders
    QB Accuracy: 10
    Pass Blocking: 50
    WR Catching: 55
    RB Ability: 50
    Run Blocking: 45
    Pass Coverage: 55
    Pass Rush: 50
    Interceptions: 40
    Rush Defense: 40
    Tackling: 50
    FG Power: 25
    FG Accuracy: 15
    Punt Power: 40
    Punt Accuracy: 10
    Kickoff Power: 25

    CPU Sliders
    QB Accuracy: 10
    Pass Blocking: 50
    WR Catching: 50
    RB Ability: 50
    Run Blocking: 70
    Pass Coverage: 50
    Pass Rush: 60
    Interceptions: 35
    Rush Defense: 50
    Tackling: 50
    FG Power: 25
    FG Accuracy: 50
    Punt Power: 50
    Punt Accuracy: 100
    Kickoff Power: 40

    Notes:
User pass coverage is set at 55 so that playing Zone can be effective. It also helps cut down on the CPU completion percentage and limits RoboQB as much as possible without neutering the offense.

Both the CPU and User rushing games are solid. And both CPU and User passing games are solid. You will still see WR drops, broken tackles, sacks, and pass deflections. I feel the offense is a little more open, but good defenses can still shut you down. You can put up some big numbers passing and running the football against lousy teams, but teams with good defense can and will put the clamps on you.

    Good luck!

    Re: Megatron's Heisman Sliders

Does anyone have any suggestions on who I should play my dynasty with? I just downloaded the latest rosters from Romancaesar, and it looks like Eastern Michigan, New Mexico, and Western Kentucky are all pretty evenly horrible.

But because of conference affiliation, I think that New Mexico has the roughest slate of games each season. I played a dynasty with a team in the Sun Belt last year, and winning the conference was just too easy. I think I did it in my second season.

New Mexico(69 overall), however, plays in the MWC and has conference games against BYU(85), Air Force(82), Colorado St(75), TCU(92), UNLV(73), Utah(85), Wyoming(73), and San Diego St(76).

4 of these teams are rated over 82, one of which is TCU(92).

So it could take years before I can be competitive in this league - which is what I'm looking for.

Hey, I have been trying both AA and Heisman sliders for some weeks now and just cant settle on anyone, some have been challenging then within three games or so it isnt, and yes i have gotten to the strength of the schedule before ditching the sliders, I use Michigan all the time and OSU can only give me fits for a half then i pull away(year 1 of a dynasty). I will try yours out but i was wondering if you can give some feedback on how your games are going with these sliders, likewise I and Im sure other would follow, thanks would be appreciated, and i always appreciate everyone efforts to try and make arcade-ish to simulate-ish. Keep it up.

        Re: Megatron's Heisman Sliders

So I went ahead and started my dynasty with New Mexico. I got all the preseason stuff out of the way last night, and I started playing games this morning.

First up, @ Oregon! Oh, brother...

As expected, it was a slaughter... but everything felt pretty normal. Statistics are right in line.

Week 1: Dynasty Mode - New Mexico (me) @ Oregon.

        Here are the results:

        Score: NM 3 - Oregon 52
        First Downs: 12 / 8
        Total Offense: 245 yds / 423 yds
        Rushes-Yds-TD: 24-54-0 / 17-123-2
        Comp-Att-TD: 14-41-0 / 14-25-4
        Passing Yds: 191 / 300
        3rd Dwn Conv: 3-14(21%) / 4-10(40%)
        4th Dwn Conv: 1-4(25%) / 1-1(100%)
        Red Zone-TD-FG: 1-0-1(100%) / 4-3-0(75%)
        Turnovers: 4 / 0
        Fumbles (Lost): 0(0) / 0(0)
        Interceptions: 4 / 0
        Punts Avg: 3-48.0 / 4-45.5
        Penalties-Yds: 2-20 / 3-20
        TOP: 22:27 / 9:33
        TFL: 5 / 6
        Sacks: 0 / 1
        Pass Deflections: 0 / 13
        Field Goals: 1-2 / 1-1 (CPU kicked a 52 yd FG)
        WR Drops: 4 / 3
        Pancakes: 0 / 2

New Mexico RBs had 1 broken tackle.
Oregon RBs had 4 broken tackles.

Seeing as how Oregon just scored 70 points on someone in real life, I don't feel so bad!

Hopefully the competition will get a little easier. But trust me, losing big early makes winning down the road so much more enjoyable!

These look good. I've tried fistfullofrage heisman sliders but I see a lot of ROBO QB and the CPU running is a bit too powerful. These sliders seem to be on point and seem challenging/rewarding.

Will get back with more thoughts.

Week 2: Dynasty Mode - Texas Tech @ New Mexico (me).

A little more balanced game this time. I continue to struggle on the ground against good teams, but Kasey Carriers did muster 85 yards on 23 carries (3.6 avg).

Passing is difficult, as it should be. Texas Tech had a strong pass rush, and they had me flustered all game. I was sacked 4 times, and I had 1 pick.

            Here are the results:

Score: Texas Tech 30 - New Mexico 14
            First Downs: 22 / 15

            Punts Avg: 2-35.5 / 5-45.4
            Penalties-Yds: 6-50 / 6-55
            TOP: 12:38 / 19:22
            TFL: 10 / 5
            Sacks: 4 / 1
            Pass Deflections: 5 / 5
            Field Goals: 3-3 / 0-0
            WR Drops: 1 / 3
            Pancakes: 3 / 4

New Mexico RBs had 1 broken tackle.
Texas Tech RBs had 6 broken tackles.

            Notes:

I'm loving these sliders so far. Yea, I'm losing, but everything seems to be playing out pretty darn close to reality. Once I get into conference play, I should be able to tough out some wins.

In recruiting, I just got my first commit of the season. I picked up the 25th rated FB. Although, its not saying much considering most FBs are 1-star players. But still, they're hard to get because it seems like everyone is recruiting them.

Week 3: Dynasty Mode - Utah @ New Mexico (me).

Opened up conference play with Utah. This game was close until the 3rd quarter. It was 10-0 going into the half, but by the end of the 3rd it was over. I just couldn't get anything going on offense. I didn't have a single snap in the red zone. If not for an 83 yard touchdown run in the 4th, I would have been shut out.

                Here are the results:

                Score: Utah 45 - New Mexico 7
                First Downs: 16 / 5

                Turnovers: 2 / 4
                Fumbles (Lost): 0(0) / 1(1)
                Interceptions: 2 / 3
                Punts Avg: 2-44.0 / 4-47.0
                Penalties-Yds: 6-50 / 4-33
                TOP: 19:00 / 13:00
                TFL: 6 / 13
                Sacks: 3 / 5
                Pass Deflections: 7 / 3
                Field Goals: 1-1 / 0-0
                WR Drops: 0 / 5
                Pancakes: 3 / 0

New Mexico RBs had 0 broken tackles.
Utah RBs had 9 broken tackles.

                Notes:

Utah was 10-16 on 3rd down. I simply couldn't get them off the field. On the other side of the ball, the pass rush was too much to overcome. My poor QB was 7-29 for 66 yards, and 3 picks. It didn't help that we had 5 dropped passes in the game.

Looking forward to a more even matchup.

love the sliders megatron!!!! tried Fists a lot and could not get a game that felt "good", but with yours they actually feel awesome. I got beat by OU 70-13 using Fists and 34-7 using yours. With Rages I felt like I had no chance, but with your sliders I got a good game and could not move the ball and made turnovers but it felt really realistic and not robo qb and rb breaks every tackle for 300 yds rushing...Anyway I thiink we are about the same skill set and these are great for me, Ill keep you posted

                        Re: Megatron's Heisman Sliders

the sliders are probably good megatron, but they just aren't for me.

                        A) Heisman is ridiculous in terms of cheats. Example, I had a toss sweep set up. no one was on the play side, it was going to be a big big gainer. The middle LB, goes through the C, the G, the FB and TE block and nails me for a 4 yard loss. Example #2. I have a screen perfectly set up, I throw the ball, the DE comes out of nowhere, dives with a 1 handed interception, and remember..DIVING...maintains his balance and goes 52 yards for a TD. Example #3. I got a WR WIDE open on a streak, he's 15 yards behind the DB...I lob the throw, it's clearly going to hit him in stride...the DB who has 87 speed vs 93 for the WR manages to make up 15 yards over the last 25, and knocks the ball down by turning around AS he is jumping.

                        B) Heisman, more so than AA really limits what you can do offensively. Toss sweeps are completely out the window, the CPU on heisman just reacts waaaaaaaaayyyyy too fast, and pursues/gets off blocks way too fast. Your only run plays are dives.

It may be that I am just a bad player, but you said these sliders opened up things offensively...I found that to be the opposite. It opened up for the CPU (Ole Miss was up 41-0 at the half vs Tennessee (me)). I had a grand total of -18 yards offense, -39 rushing, 21 passing (1 pass, a screen). Ole Miss had already ran for 265 yards and 3 scores, and threw 240 more for 3 scores. in one half, I gave up 500 yards of offense...oh, their RB broke 17 tackles in the first half, including 7 en route to a 91 yard TD run.

Again, I am not disrespecting your work, as I think the sliders, if you have more skill than I apparently have, will work. But with the last patch, running the ball on heisman is borderline impossible, passing is next to impossible with coverage at 50 and int sliders where they are.

My QB was missing WR's who were routinely open by wide margins....by 20 yards, upped to 20, and that didn't change...but the CPU and their 81 accuracy QB was 19/21...my QB and his 91 accuracy was 4/26

I wouldn't base your results on one game. I would play a few more and try to set up the run with the pass. I've had the same thing happen to me before on the Toss Sweep, where it looks like it's wide open, but the LB just busts thru and hoses the play. But other times, I get the CPU thinking I'm passing, and I can get him for a big gainer on the Toss.

As for the CPU offense, there will be times when the QB goes on a completion streak, but over the course of a game, it usually evens out. Especially with pass coverage set at 55.

But other times, I get the CPU thinking I'm passing, and I can get him for a big gainer on the Toss.

As for the CPU offense, there will be times when the QB goes on a completion streak, but over the course of a game, it usually evens out. Especially with pass coverage set at 55.
I'll certainly try it out some more.

Whoa! I just had the most classic game I've had with NCAA 11.

Week 4: Dynasty Mode - New Mexico (me) @ UNLV.

Very evenly matched game. I was able to move the ball well on offense, and my defense actually played pretty decent. Running the football became a LOT easier in the 2nd half, especially in the 4th quarter. I was up 17-3 going into the 4th. I may have gotten a little conservative, because the CPU had a TD drive to make it 17-10. Then I ran off a bunch of clock, and I gave it back to them with 45 seconds. Which, of course, with the CPU running the no-huddle, they drove the ball down to the 8 yd-line and scored a TD with 6 seconds remaining. I was so depressed - we were going to overtime.

Luckily, I won the toss, and I elected to play defense. UNLV came out, and they completed a pass for 8 yards, and they could get no further. Out comes the field goal kicker. He missed it!

OK, my turn. I hand the ball off, Power O, 1st Down! Hand it off again, huge run down to the 5 yard line. On the next play, I center the ball in the middle of the field. And on 2nd Down, I kick the game winning FG.

My first win of the dynasty! Instant classic.

                              Slider Notes:

Excellent gameplay with these sliders. Running the ball became much easier in the 2nd half. New Mexico's HB Demond Dennis had 18 carries, 105 yds, 1 TD.

Statistics look good. I'm very happy with the results so far this season.
