Minnesota Wild - NHL 11 BEAGM

This is the third dynasty I've tried to do. I think I can stick with this one for a while. I hope you all enjoy. I will be doing a game by game update with me simulating the pre-season.

Wild set to kick off season in Finland

Mikko Koivu will be a key staple in the Wild's success this year.

    -Jake Krogzi (Made-Up Name)

(AP) -- With the Wild set to start their season in Finland, they hope to get off to a better start than they did last year losing their first 6 games on the road. They are kind of like road games, but in a way, they are road games for the Hurricanes also. Head Coach Todd Richards has his lines set, and hopes to get better production this year out of the team. Here is the starting lineup for your 2010 Minnesota Wild.

Wild Eek Out Win in Opener

Cullen scored the game-winning goal in the 2nd.

      -Jake Krogzi

(AP) -- The Minnesota Wild started the year off on the right foot defeating Matt Cullen's former team the Carolina Hurricanes 4-3 after a 4-goal 2nd period. To start the game off, the Wild were undisciplined as they took too many penalties and were burned on the power-play of the Hurricanes. The 'Canes had a 2-0 lead going into the 2nd when Mikko Koivu struck on a shorthanded opportunity, but the 'Canes bounced back right away with Erik Cole responding on the power-play. The Wild went on to score 3 consecutive goals in the 2nd and held onto the win behind stellar goaltending from Niklas Backstrom who's looking to have a bounce-back year this year. The Wild will face the Hurricanes again tomorrow in Finland.

        Great start...

the key to finishing a dynasty is not getting in over your head. Come up with something thats informative, but not too time consuming that if you were to get a little behind you feel like you have tons of work to do.

It's times like that where people generally burn out.

I think a simple recap of the game, trades, or moves will be sufficient enough for me to keep going.

I'm just trying to keep it realistic because that's what makes it interesting to read. I had a real hard time in this first game, I was super surprised that I won, but Backstrom is really good in this game.

Thanks for the feedback, and your sliders are great. I had a real tough time on the faceoff dot as you can see I lost 26/38 faceoffs, but I'm sure it will balance out over time.

Nice start. I'm loving this dynasty already, but I don't know why
I'm a finn so don't be surprised if I spell words wrong.

Good start to the season for the Wild. Jussi Jokinen was lighting you up for a bit, but four second period goals? Nice.

Haha, I can't imagine why. Mikko is such a fun player to watch, he's really good in this game too.

Yeah Jokinen just sniped two goals top shelf on Backstrom, I was just happy that I was able to stick with it for the 4 2nd period goals. Havlat's goal really surprised me as there was a tie-up on the faceoff and Havlat just picked it up and fired it top shelf, I was surprised it went in. :P

                  Speculation about Bouchard

Pierre-Marc Bouchard is said to be on the trade block.

                  -Jason Krogzi

Pierre-Marc Bouchard suffered a major concussion a couple of years back, but now he's back and ready to play. I've been told by sources that the Wild is looking to move him for another winger to play on the top line with Mikko Koivu and Andrew Brunette. There have been internal discussions about maybe also moving him for a defenseman as their back-end is solid, but are looking to upgrade there if possible, and moving up either Chuck Kobasew or Antti Miettinen.

I'll keep you posted if there is any more news to report regarding Bouchard. Also, I've been told the Wild have offered a 1 year contract to veteran defenseman Jay McKee as Clayton Stoner hasn't had a good start to the year. I'll post any updates if I hear them.

Trade him for Marc Savard. Then Bouchard can get hit by Matt Cooke.

Haha good one. Hoping to get a shooting winger for him, but maybe I'll just move Havlat up.

                        Wild Seize Sweep in Finland

Backstrom made 41 saves in his 2nd game of the season.

                        -Jason Krogzi

--Niklas Backstrom was the story in his homeland of Finland as he turned away 41 shots in a game that featured comebacks and the all-important powerplay. The Wild got the deciding goal in the third by Pierre-Marc Bouchard on the power play. Havlat was really good in this game also, but he was injured after going for a check. He is on a day-to-day status as far as we know. I'll get more information when I can.

McKee inks 1-year deal with Wild

Newest member of the Wild's D-corps.

                          -Jason Krogzi

--Jay McKee finalized a deal today with the Wild that will see him playing on the 3rd line with Greg Zanon and utilized on the PK. He inked a 1-year deal worth $1.210M for the season. GM Chuck Fletcher said, "We felt like we needed another veteran presence for our team, and a guy that is sound defensively. Stoner was our guy, but he's had a rough couple of games, and we need to see if he can figure it out down in the minors."

McKee was happy to be playing hockey again, "I'm just happy to be here and to get to know the guys. I'm hoping that I can come in and contribute and play a solid two-way game." The Wild will host the Edmonton Oilers tonight as they open up at home for the first time this season.

-Marty Havlat is expected to play tonight.

                            Wild Continue Hot Start

                            - Jason Krogzi

St. Paul, MN --The Wild continued their hot start to the season with a 7-2 rout of the Edmonton Oilers in their home debut for the 2010-2011 season. The debut of the newest addition, Jay McKee, was a good one. He popped on the scoresheet to give the Wild a 2-1 lead at the time. He also blocked 3-4 shots and broke up many plays. The whole team played well tonight, and will look to keep their streak up.

Wild Roll as Columbus Takes 11 Penalties

                              -Jason Krogzi

St. Paul, MN -- The Wild won tonight behind 3 powerplay goals. The Blue Jackets ended up taking 11 penalties throughout the game, so the Wild controlled the majority of the play for the game, had it not been for Mason in this game, it could have easily been 10-0 rather than 5-0. Niklas Backstrom recorded his first shutout of the season as the Wild continue to roll to a perfect 4-0-0 record. They hope to keep rolling Tuesday as the Vancouver Canucks come ot visit, so it should be a good test for them.
