FIFA 11 Career/Manager Mode Discussion and Impressions

I play (almost) exclusively in the offline manager mode (now called career mode).

EA have done a lot of publicity about how they have made "many" "improvements" to this mode this year. But some sites have lamented that the career mode is now a watered-down version (because it is the first year of a new way of doing the career mode).

So - would we say that it is better now (or better in FIFA10)?

I am excited about improved gameplay ... but I will be saddened if the player progression / transfer market / team strategy / edit kit numbers / scouting / coaching staff stuff is gone (or weak).

Agreed. Is it perfect in terms of depth and options? No. But so far, it addresses all the concerns from last year.

the one thing i´m wondering before digging in : How are new/youth players introduced into the game ?
So far i haven´t seen anything in the main screen that gives any indication here ?

Way worse. No more sponsorships or sending your scout to find new talent. The replay value went to zero when I found those out. I am taking my copy back to gamestop, it is sad how much they stripped this from last years version.

no the no scouting is a game killer. I like to build a 1/2 or 1 star team up with players that I scouted and go up in leagues. Without scouting or sponsorships for extra money, it is a big step down from last years.

EA likes to leave things out ... so that they can put them back in later ... and then pretend like it is one of the new features for that year ...

With Manager Mode this year you can sign/sell players. And coach your squad. That is it. They took it down a few notches and it was a huge disappointment for me.

Just got the game today so I don't know if MM is better or worse yet.

I liked the player scouting and sponsorships aspect of it. It was a nice feature that I hoped they would evolve into something better and deeper. But maybe those of us who like to develop an obscure team are the minority.

Manager mode is back to where it was on Fifa 07. Which means very decent.

Very quickly you can navigate etc and it makes sense but PES will probably trounce on it once it comes out but it doesnt mean that there isnt fun to be had this year manager mode in 08 09 and 10 stunk...

I actually think there is a sort of "scouting" in it, hidden deep at the bottom of the player finder transfer market options. Haven't gotten too deep into messing with it, but I think it is much cleaner than last years manager mode and overall I have liked what I have seen.

I read multiple previews that talked about scouting. Haven't seen it in any reviews yet but I've only read one or two. Haven't tried out MM yet, but I find it hard to believe it has been removed completely.
