Re: Receiver spotlight
it's not going to completely shut down a receiver, that would be unrealisticComment

Re: Receiver spotlight
When my friends and I play OTP, we will often see someone pick the ravens or Vikings and one palyer will be the QB and he other the HB. When this happens I put Revis on the HB in the coahing menu. They will just try to force it to their HB all game long, and Revis is there all game long to swat, tackle for a short gain and pick off passes. this also makes these players quit because we kept them from cheesing down the field all game long.Comment

Re: Receiver spotlight
It's still in the game and effective if you chose correctly, though you will be burned if you guessed wrong and your opponent is aware.Comment

Re: Receiver spotlight
Coaches cam(the one where you can see your play on the field) on PS3 it's R2,unsure about xbox but I guess it's RT. Anyways while holding it down press the icon of the reciever you want to spotlight.Comment

Re: Receiver spotlight
Are you talking about 2010 bc I don't see the circle under the player once I push the icon corresponding to him, in 2011?Comment

Re: Receiver spotlight
for me it works in 2011 (offline) , though i didnt see any use of it, for example yesterday i played colts and manning threw to collie all game long, i spotlighted him every play and he still managed to get 10/15 yards every play.NBA: Miami Heat
NFL: Philadelphia Eagles
MLB: New York MetsComment

Re: Receiver spotlight
For some reason you can see the indicator offline, it either just doesn't show online, or the feature doesn't work online, but either way i'd like some confirmation from EA as to whether or not it's working for online play.Comment

Re: Receiver spotlight
I assume that it's working online as well. They (EA) probably decided to hide the circle on both screens because they don't have a way to make it show up on the offensive screen only. Either way we should get a conformation from them.
BTW it is effective (almost to effective) in getting you DB's to surround the spotlighted reciever. I've put a spotlight on a slot receiver running a crossing route and it seemed every DB on the field reacted to the receiver eventhough the DB's were no where near the receiver. Basiclly leaving everyone else on the field wide open. It might just be my secondary (Texans) seeing as though they are horrible.
Also just because you can get your DB's to play the spotlighted receiver tighter doesn't mean your DB's will play the ball in air any better. I had a receiver surrounded by 4 defenders and none of them went for the easy pick. Nor did they smash the receiver after he made an attempt to catch the ball. They stood and watched the WR catch the ball and tackled him for a 30 yard reception. Again it might just be my secondary cause the Texans suck!
If it does work online I could see using it backed up in my redzone and wanting to deny a TE or Slot an easy look. Setting two LB's to play a hook zone and spotlighting a TE may be very effective in stopping a top tier TE.
