Re: Did they fix MLS this year?
yes. if you look at your fixture list, there are conference semifinals and conference finals, leading up to MLS Cup. I'm about 25 matches into my New England Revolution MM.Comment

Re: Did they fix MLS this year?
Good news, the playoffs are in. Bad news, the game can not properly read the standings to determine who makes the playoffs.
I simmed a season and here are the standings. Teams in bold made the playoffs:
Eastern Conference
NY Red Bulls 66
Columbus 60
Chicago 54
Toronto 53
DC United 39
New England 29
Kansas City 29
Philadelphia 8
Western Conference
Seattle 63
LA Galaxy 62
Real Salt Lake 42
Houston 37
Dallas 35
San Jose 29
Colorado 25
Chivas USA 25
It is pretty obvious what the issue is there.
I decided to sim another season, here are the results:
Eastern Conference
Toronto 58
Columbus 55
NY Red Bulls 53
DC United 44
Chicago 32
New England 26
Philadelphia 24
Kansas City 20
Western Conference
LA Galaxy 62
Seattle 56
Real Salt Lake 52
Dallas 42
Houston 39
Chivas USA 37
Colorado 34
San Jose 23
Interesting that Chicago gets in with 32 points but Dallas (42), Houston (39), Chivas (37) and Colorado (34) do not make the playoffs.Comment

Re: Did they fix MLS this year?
there's no explaining that. It should be the top two from each conference regardless of points and then the next four highest points totals regardless of conference. EA just messed it up.Good news, the playoffs are in. Bad news, the game can not properly read the standings to determine who makes the playoffs.

Re: Did they fix MLS this year?
Still missing the CONACAF champions league as well. I haven't paid attention to the playoffs, but they do have them set up correctly. Still the scheduling is better this year, although all games are basically played on Sat so you won't get multiple games a week since you are missing Champs league. Only 2 games a week at most since you have the US Cup.
So fatigue really doesn't effect MLS a lot this year. In my third year right now and will pay attention when I get to the playoffs to see what it looks like. I guess it really didn't matter since the MLS playoffs I breezed by to win easily both years. However the US Cup seems like the MLS playoffs for me since every game seems to go into extra time or a shoot out.Comment

Re: Did they fix MLS this year?
Upon further review, yes the seeding for the playoffs is way way off. It's because MLS has the most *** backwards playoff system that makes thing harder than they should be. It's because Don Garber loves having conferences and conference title games. Single table. top 8 for playoffs. at least then it could be understood. Love this question "Why were New York Red Bulls the Western Conference champion a couple years back?" to which I respond "Just act like its completely normal and it will go away"Comment

Perhaps after the debacle that is the MLS league system in FIFA 11, MLS will switch to a single table next year.Upon further review, yes the seeding for the playoffs is way way off. Re: Did they fix MLS this year?
When half of the teams in a league make the playoffs your league sucks.
Could you imagine baseball doing this. The playoffs would last well until the beginning of the next season.Comment

Re: Did they fix MLS this year?
What? The NHL has a majority of its teams (16) in the playoffs...Comment

Re: Did they fix MLS this year?
One, the league setup may suck, but the league doesn't. Two, baseball plays 5 and 7 game series, whereas the MLS only has a home-and-home system. Three, the MLS has only 16 teams whereas MLB has 30. So, if there were to be 16 playoff teams (only way it would work without byes), MLB would be playing over four times as many playoff games as the MLS. In turn, because the MLS Cup Playoffs run a month, MLB playoffs would run four months and would end in January, thus not well into the next season.YNWA

The league sucks. There are good moments but matches on the whole aren't entertaining when you put them up against European Leagues. It may not be fair but when I have a choice to watch soccer games, why would I watch MLS when I have a better product out there.
They should skip the playoffs. But for some reason, Americans must have a playoff or we have fits.
Anyway this isn't about the MLS.Comment

You sir, are misinformed. I was the same way bashing the MLS, then I went to a Union game and it literally changed my life.Hyperbole - see a dictionary.

It's unfortunate that you feel this way, though I suggest you go out to a Rapids game (if you haven't yet), as you may change your mind. I've argued this enough, it's just not worth it.Hyperbole - see a dictionary.
