    I beg you EA...matchmaking...please

My frustration level is starting to peak. I am so sick and tired of jumping into a quick team EASHL game only to be playing against guys with 300 plus goals/points.

Me and my 2 teammates barely have 50 points.

EA has to give us some way to be matched up against similiar level teams. It's just plain stupid. My 83 rated checker can't even come close to knocking down a 90 plus strength guy. Don't even get me started on the 99 slap shot guys. One shot...goal. Us...barely scoring one goal a game.

It's stupid and frustrating. I have even tried to challenge another similiarly rated team...but nobody accepts.

    Please EA...I beg you...

I mentioned this to Redshirt in a PM. my suggestion for the patch was maybe adding an option to the filter to search just for teams in your division. It seems like a pretty fair request so lets cross our fingers.

Sounds logical to me. I haven't played any EASHL games yet, and reading this here, I don't know if I will until something like that is in place. I don't mind a challenge, but playing guys who just straight outclass me is not my idea of fun.

Definitely. We see this all the time. Too many people just play a ton and there's a huge gap. We're more competitive now since some have gotten their vet card, but before that it is brutal.

We've got a few casual players who don't have any time to get their cards and they struggle as guys skate circles around them.

Initially we were losing 3 out of every 4 games, now that a few have vet cards, we're winning 2 out of 3.
        Go Sabres!

It seems like this is becoming a pretty big issue. i've seen a number of posts on this over on the EA forum recently.

Welcome to EA Forums, where you can chat about games with other players, help each other out, share feedback, and report issues you’re having with EA games.

of note my team is in the Ameteur division , and 8 of our last 11 games have been vs. Elite division teams. This just does not make any sense. I really do believe this needs to be a priority issue for EASHL. it's getting a bit out of control.

            agreed.

it is no where near fair.

and honestly, there isn't much you can do against jacked players

I can't imagine this is how they intended matchmaking to work. I have to believe it's a bug or a malfunction in the code. if this was how it was intended sombody needs a serious *** chewing. how anyone would consiser it to be fair is beyond me. Even worse was last moth we played an Elite team in the second round of the "AMETEUR" playoffs. Does that even remotely make sense? I have been playing EASHL since the first year in '09, an have really enjoyed it. This year however not so much. Fact is I'm kinda becoming discouraged by the mode, and starting to loose interest simply because of this very issue.

I agree with the above comments. This has become a big issue. My teammates and I have anywhere from 50pts to 125pts or so and we seem to draw 200-300pt players quite often.

Simply put, I'm the father of a 7 month old and I'm never going to rack up 300pts with my limited time to play. I don't have time to master the art of dangling either. Let me play against some other Dads who want to sneak in a few realistic games when their little dude is fast asleep! Better matchmaking is so much needed for EASHL!

Don't understand why they have elite, pro, amateur divisions if amateur teams often match against elite teams.
It's not much fun for either team (though some top teams take pleasure in beating some weak team 12-0 because they can pad their stats) and it discourages the casual player from continuing to play in the eashl.

Without addressing the matching issue the eashl will turn into an unplayable mode for many.
It's one thing for a pro team to play vs elite, but amateur teams are generally newer players, play casually and probably don't have every boost like elites do.

I think last years system was better. I know they weren't completely locked divisions, but you only would play 2 or 3 crossoner games every 20-25. I also think allowing the team decide what league they wanted to compete in was better. Yes, there were always a few teams in the casual who should have been in the pro, but all in all it was a better system. I personally would like EA to go with small user created leagues this would give the game a much more personal touch with more rivalries. then all EA would have to do is track 2 records (League, and Overall). With this users could form leagues of teams of equal skill, and experiance.

Pretty much all our casual players on our team have disappeared this year. They go out there with their rookie card and have people skate circles around them. It just isn't fun for them, even if our team is competitive.

A few of us have fought through it and gotten enough points to compete, but we had to plow through a time of getting destroyed online.

The differences in boosts is just way too dramatic this year. We ran up against a team who physically could not be taken down, and yet they were still very fast and able to score. Our team is big and very tough and we were getting thrown around like nothing.

Then on the other hand we run into teams that are newer and we shut them out easily. That's no fun for anyone either. I don't want to pad my stats on some lower level team. I want to compete and have fun, and this year that seems harder.

You hit on a good point - that the games seem to be lopsided most of the time and you either are the team blowing the other out or vice versa. Our EASHL team has only had a handful of close battles.

Totally agree that boosts are too powerful as well.

                          Re: I beg you EA...matchmaking...please

The matchmaking problem is likely just a matter of numbers.

At any given time there's a *lot* more "elite" teams online than amateur or pro. Teams that play more often tend to be filled with players who play more often which tend to be the "better" players hence more Elite division teams online.

What's likely happening is the matchmaking algorithm is a bit too quick to give up waiting for a matchup in your team's division and moves up to the next one. Resulting in a lot of Amateur/Pro vs Elite games.

The way to fix it would be to trade getting a quick match for a better chance of playing a team in your own division or to give explicit options for "my division only", "my division and below", "my division and above" and wait however long it takes to get a game.

Good points, and I like the idea of better options for matching.
Waiting a few minutes while looking for a similar opponent would be better than an amateur division team matching with a top 20 elite team and wasting 30 minutes in game.

Last year and I think it still helps this year, there was a trick if you had 5 or 6 players to have less match ups with 2 man teams by stopping and restarting the search.
I wonder if that would help amateur teams not to match with elites because right now I bet since the search couldn't find an amateur it starts to look for any team.

Anyone that's unsure of what I'm talking about and wants to try this out here's what you do.
The captain starts their search and if after a few seconds you don't find a match they stop the search, then they search again.
What happens is the search looks for similar numbers of players and if you have 5 and it can't find a team with 5 it looks for 4 and so on.
It may also be looking for similar division level as well, it might look for similar numbers of players with the same division first then when it can't find any teams even with 2 players in your division it might start doing a broad search for any team.

Ok, this seriously has to be addressed. Due to some poor play and the fact that we truly are a casual team my club has ended up in the Amateur division ( go ahead and laugh ).

In our last 13 games we`ve played only one other Amateur team. What we have done though is get matched up against seven Elite teams. Of those seven all but one were ranked in the top 250 overall at the time of our game. Needless to say the game is dangerously close to no longer being fun.

Now, as I said before I understand the likely reason as to why this is happening, but it desperately needs to be fixed. If Redshirt or anybody else from EA could give us some idea if this can or will be fixed that would be greatly appreciated.
