with the shot-stick timing v real %, if you use real % is there still an element of skill?
sounds stupid but it sounds like you could throw a shot up with a couple of people in your face and if you havent hit a shot for a while it will go in
    cheers

Real problem arises when you pick up your dribble with someone on the perimeter and nobody shows for the ball, letting their defenders stand barely in the passing lane...and you have no choice but to pass...but instead of throwing a bounce pass where only the offensive player can get it, a dumb chest pass right at the defender.

Again though, I really suck at this game. I know I could control an off-ball player in that situation but that is just too complicated for me. Also, the fact that there is no freestyle passing like in Live 10 is killing me. I know I'm in the serious minority but the passing game is not good in this game. It's a good thing that you can't just whip the ball all around the court without fear of it being tipped, but to me the defense has a major advantage.

Thanks that will be a huge help.

Kind of bumping my question again since it hasn't been addressed (and I have something new I'd like to ask with it). Can assistant coaches become head coaches, can retired players become coaches, and do head coaches retire when their contract is up again (Sloan, Karl, Adelman, and Jackson seemed to always retire because of contract length in my previous association experiences). I'd like to know since coaches have always been my gripe with association...

Re: NBA 2K11 Q&A (Those That Have it Early, Confirmed)

Well, I got the game today and have played it for 10 straight hours, only stopping to eat lunch and dinner. Yes, it's that good. I haven't gotten into any Association games yet, though. I've only been playing exhibition games against the computer and my buddies. Here are some random impressions that I have. I haven't been reading the other impressions, so I apologize if I repeat what others have said.

                  - The classic teams really sucked me in. I'm from Chicago and grew up in the Jordan era, so I really had a hard time breaking away from playing with the classic teams. Playing as MJ on a next-gen system is easily the most fun that I've ever had in a video game. Ever.

                  - The Jordan Challenge feels like a cheesefest simply because 8 minutes isn't a realistic enough time to pull of these challenges if you want to play sim basketball. It's still fun - don't get me wrong (the commentary is great) - but you're going to have to play 10-12 minute exhibition games with the classic teams if you want to get a sim experience.

                  - On default (simulation setting), it seems really hard to make a shot, even when you're wide open. It was pretty common to see shooting percentages in the 30's for most games. Maybe I just need to practice more, but I have been playing 2K games since the very beginning so I don't think it's me. I am using shot stick percentage, so maybe I should give real player percentage a go and see if that makes a difference.

                  - It's hard to pass, but I mean that in a good way. Gone are the days where you could just chuck the ball down the court and lead pass your way into the paint for an easy dunk. Bad passes will get deflected and/or stolen - it's a simple as that. You also have to be very careful when passing the ball into the post, which really heightens the sim experience for me because you have to play the angles when passing into the post. If you have somebody in the post and they are being fronted, you can't just dump it into them. You have to dribble to get a good angle and make a smart pass. Guys that are used to just pass cross court and making half court passes every single possession will be very frustrated!

                  - I've been having a hard time getting fast breaks.

                  - I read a lot of complaints on the PS3 graphics, and honestly guys, I just don't see it. This game is absolutely beautiful. If you liked the graphics on the demo, then stop worrying about it.

                  - The signature gathers are very well done. For all you Bulls fans, the Derrick Rose floater is sweet!

                  - I really didn't care for 2K10 because I thought the jumpers were way too quick and the isomotion was way too "herky jerky." I can't say enough that 2K11 is the complete opposite. The game just plays so silky smooth, and isomotion looks outstanding.

                  - All in all, I'm putting this game right up there with The Show as the best sports game that I've ever played. I still need to put in a lot more time with the game, but this isn't just the "honeymoon" period...it's really that good. It's almost as if they took 2K10 and combined it with all of the great aspects of Live from last year. I'm in basketball heaven.

Fellows the animations are just sick. So many new ones I'm in awe.

I'm currently messing around on Pro/Sim using the Lakers-of course vs Dallas on the road and Dirk is going off. Terry is running around like a mad man trying to get open, but Dirk is really showing his A$%.

We always talk about newness and how the game has no flaws because we are so excited because its a new title, but I'm here to tell you these guys form 2K SLAUGHTERED IT!!!!!

This game has it all. Heck I think the IGN review is right on. I love The Show and have always thought it captured the sport better than any other video sports game, but I will have to concede that 2K11 might be pushing for that title and I'm dead serious and a lot of you will probably agree once you fool around with this gem. Peace, gotta get my Lakers back in this game. Lol

Is the ISO camera the same as 2k10 or is it like in college hoops 2k8? (The difference was in 2k8 you could see much more of the court)

When that happens use Icon lead passing to bring someone closer to you. Works very well and is necessary on All star and above.

You know what I LOVE about the impressions so far ? What I'm NOT hearing from last year. Baseline exploit, points in the paint... etc etc etc. Sometimes what is not being mentioned can tell you as much as what is.

I'm telling you guys don't let one pet peave ruin an outstanding gaming experience.

To tell the truth the PS3 version plays a tad bit smoother than the 360 version...probably due to the analog sticks on the PS3 having more freedom. It does look sharper on the 360 though so you can't go wrong buying it on either system. I didn't notice any framerate issues on either system.

I have a question for whoever has the game:
I see that association mode has really been upgraded, and that trades and everything is more realsitic so my question is tthis: is the simming of games accurate? what i mean by this is can you play association like a basketball version of football manager, where if you sign dwight, kobe, lebron, amare, and cp3, you'll have a great record? i feel like this wasnt really done well in 2k10, where the W/L was more randomized than based on skills
