Unsigned Entry Draft Players
I'm new to hockey, but I thought I heard that unsigned Entry Draft Players went to your team's AHL affiliate. Is that correct?

I believe the unsigned players go back to their CHL affiliate and you still hold their pro rights.Owner, Spear Interactive

I was just gonna post this question too! I also want to know why there are guys on my AHL team that I did not sign?Playstation Network:That70s_Gamer

Re: Unsigned Entry Draft Players
I believe any of your unsigned draft picks go back to their Junior Hockey team and you retain that players rights for 2 years, if you have not signed them by the second year you lose their rights and i believe the can become a free agent or re-enter the draft.
i'm pretty sure the only guys on your AHL squad should be guys with contracts and they must be 20 yrs old.Comment

Re: Unsigned Entry Draft Players
If you do not sign a full team roster (enough guys to fill your roster, 2 goalies, 6 d, 12 forwards) then the cpu will automatically fill your roster and you cannot call those guys up or down to the NHL and they will not be on your resign phase at the end of the yearComment

Re: Unsigned Entry Draft Players
Your AHL team does not have to be all players that you have "rights" to. That's the way it is in real life too. All AHL teams have players that just play in the AHL. Their NHL affiliate can not call them up. They would have to sign a contract with that player. What you're seeing is normal. For instance, the captain for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers is Mark Wotton. He can not play for the Islanders, they would have to sign him to a contract first. He's played there for a while. I don't believe any AHL team is full of prospects.Comment

Re: Unsigned Entry Draft Players
The problem I had is after season 1 I thought that if I didn't sign my prospects in junior that they would just go back to their junior teams and I would still own their rights. I'm playing as the Wild so after season 1 I didn't sign Granlund, Bulmer & Faucault. They weren't ready for AHL and so I wanted them to go back to junior for one more year. Well then I advance on to the free agency period and there all 3 of those guys are available as free agents free to sign with ANY team. I lost Granlund to Phoenix. Anyone else have this problem?Last edited by ucas005; 10-04-2010, 08:45 AM.Comment

Re: Unsigned Entry Draft Players
I believe you need to sign the player and then you make the decision whether or not to send them to juniors or the NHL team. I haven't played around much with BAGM, so I could be wrong, but I thought I read that in one of the production blogs when the game came out.Comment

NHL teams hold player rights for two years, after which a player will re-enter the draft or become a free agent (depending on his age) if he is not signed.
EDIT: I just started a GM and simulated to the beginning of the next season. All of the unsigned players were nowhere to be found, even the ones I was supposed to own the rights to for the next two years (including the European prospects). Maybe this should go in the bugs/glitches thread.

Re: Unsigned Entry Draft Players
Yes this is a pretty big problem for BaGM mode. Every player from the 2010 draft went to the free agent pool for me.
I KeptBlues)
Jonas Junland (Europe)
James Livingston (2008 3rd rnd)
Every other prospect I had was put into the FA pool from the 2010 draft. I really hope there is a fix in the works for this because it can be game breaking as far as BaGM is concerned. With the accurate way EA uses the reserve list limits it is game breaking. I am going to sim through another season and see if I lose the 2011 draft prospects.PROUD SUPPORTER OF:

Re: Unsigned Entry Draft Players
Lost every single player from the 2011 draft as well. I really hope EA IS aware of this because it renders BaGM just a shell of a franchise mode. Its game breaking in the worst way and should be high on the priority list for fixes. If not, as much as I love NHL 11 gameplay it is a waste of this years iteration. I just dont understand how this company as a whole fails on so many levels in so many titles when it comes to their franchise modes. THE FRANCHISE MODES ARE THE REPLAYABILITY FOR OFFLINE GAMERS!!, and without it no matter how good the game play is, they will get stale.PROUD SUPPORTER OF:

Re: Unsigned Entry Draft Players
think of this way.....the Franchise mode is not being addressed because ALL OF US WHO LOVE TO PLAY OFFLINE will always buy every year a game hoping THEY improved the franchise mode. what i dont understand is that every tuner is addressed (mostly) to online modes because they can MILK YOU more of your $$$ to buy those boost packs. this is Bu$ine$$. so hopefully another company could produce this same kind of calibre (graphics etc.) game BUT balance or heavy tilt on Offline gamers (:{)PROUD SUPPORTER OF:
