    Goals From Defensemen

Are you guys getting any? I'm getting tons of goals that result from point shots, but they are always either deflections or rebounds, and are therefore credited to my forwards. My defensemen never score goals!

    Re: Goals From Defensemen

I've gotten a couple, and i've only played about 7 or so games thus far. One thing i'm noticing is that when I send the puck on a cross ice pass from one D man to another along the blue line for a one-time shot the guy receiving the pass takes a wrister for his one-time shot instead of winding up for a slapper like in years past. The control scheme must be a bit different and I need to probably work on it.

        Re: Goals From Defensemen

When I play online, it's too hard to set up a slap shot at the point. Opposing players can easily poke it away and score on a break away. So, I rarely score from the point with my defencemen. The only way I seem to score is by a fluky wrist shot from the point or a dman that joins the rush.

19 Games in my Be a GM, Lidstrom has 18 assists and 1 goal.

            Lilja has 1 goal.

            That's about it.

So far I've played just the pre-season. Bergeron scored 2 or 3 (I can't remember), Yandle scored 1, Jovanovski scored 1. Think that's about it on goals from them.

                Through 26 games...

Seabrook has 4 goals, Keith has 2, Campbell has 2, Hendry, Hjalmarsson and Boynton have 1. So in total I have 11 goals from defensemen. So yes, I am getting them.

So far with the Leafs I've had no problem.

Beauchemin has 5 goals, Phaneuf 4 goals and Komisarek 3 goals, with 1 each from Schenn and Van Ryn in 15 games.

Adding up to 14 in 15...I was actually thinking it's too easy to score with the D this year.

                    Re: Goals From Defensemen

Good question. So far, with my BAP D, I've got 1 goal in 5 games. My only goal was from a slapshot that deflect off the pad of Mike Brodeur, on the chin pad of Karlsson and in the net.

From my D, a good bunch of it in the preseason. Gragnani had 2, Myers, Rivet, Sekera and Leopold had 1 each.

For the opposite, Hamrlik had one, Chara had one and Karlsson had 2 in 2 games.

So far, I can't say that scoring from the point is a problem if you had up all the goals that comes from deflection (I've got 3 assist from these in 5 games) or from rebound (another 3 assist for me from that type of goals).

D-man isn't about goals, it's completely normal to see a low amount. I play RD exclusively online and I love it, but even when I used to play actual hockey I always love setting up goals as opposed to scoring them.

I've had no problems scoring goals with d men at all. Then again, my BAGM is with the Bruins and Chara and Boychuck both have rockets. Even the other guys though, if you set up a point shot by moving the puck around and sometimes pinching in a bit, you'll find great shooting lanes.

Pronger and Carle and Timmonen get me goals. Look for the goalie to go into his "where is the puck?" animation. It is easier to pick corners then because the goalie will be slower to react.

                              Re: Goals From Defensemen

I don`t have any problems scoring with D`men, they get their share.

Some people might be having difficulty scoring due to how their shot power is set.

I posted a thread about shot speeds.

                              I tested in BAGM/Superstar,.....shooting drills....using a D`man with a good shot,and a winger with a good shot...(..Markov and Cammelleri )
Normal shot power at 4 clicks provides real world shot speeds for wrist shots and snap shots(mid 70`s to low/mid 80`s),......and 5 clicks for slap shots yields real worlds slap shot speeds(high 80`s to mid 90`s).

I haven`t checked using All Star yet,....but I would guess that the shot speeds should be the same,.....if they are too low with All Star I`ll see what bumping each up by one click to see if that gets it,or what.

Super Star shot speeds are confirmed though,.....and a player`s attributes should provide the final touch to the realism.

For cpu shot speeds,...I`m still trying to nail down what they`re getting,...as I find they have equal shot speeds with sliders set at 1 for normal shot power, and 2 for slap shots.
Cpu players don`t seem to have any problems scoring with these settings.

For humans, with shot power/slap shot power turned down to like 1 and 2,...the shot speeds are ridiculously slow,.....under 50 mph slap shots.

Getting shot speeds into the realistic range certainly helps with being able to beat cpu goalies,...knowing shot speeds are close to RW,also makes it easier to dial in the goalie`s abilities.

I`m still very happy with my All Star sliders for 10 min-11 min periods,....but not so much for Super Star.I`m still working on those......and should be able to get a good set up for 10- 11 min periods too,.......but it`s going to take a while to get it right for 20 minute periods.
