Duck Fan Before..Duck Fan No More

    I sat through:

    1. Ducks seasons when Lew Barnes was the second coming of christ.
    2. the 0 0 Civil War
    3. Countless Beat Downs by the Fuskies.

    I was there when

    1. The Ducks tied ND
    2. Terry Obie End around beat the Fuskies
    3. The Pick

Now, I go to Autzen and all I see is a bunch of bandwagon geeks in Darth Vader and Skeletor gear.

My allegiance has changed to the Beavers, who actually recruit Oregon thanks to their home grown coach from Corvallis.
And yes, the Ducks will Duck it Up and lose a game this year.
East Coast Coach after so many innovative west coach coaches we've seen over the past years??? Blah.

    Go Beavers!!

Glad to see you return from the dark side! I'm not old enough to remember the 0-0 game. The first game that made me care about college football was the 1998 Civil War. I kinda like Oregon State already because when I was growing up in Edmonton I didn't get a lot of college football but I did get a lot of Oregon State games late at night from FSN NW. Now I'm in Tucson so I get to see the Beavs in person this Saturday. Might be our first loss in Tucson since the mid to late 90's, but it's been a good run.

I'm sorry, but how can you change favorite teams just because they get some bandwagoners? By this logic you cant like any team ranked in the top 15. Every good team gets bandwagoners and bad fans in general. It doesnt make the program any less good.

          I agree.

Being a Cowboys fan, you probably can relate as well.

If you can change that easily you only cared about as much as a bandwagon fan anyways.

That's exactly what it sounds like.

Your team starts getting success, so you stop liking them....good for you I guess. I can imagine a ton fans would love to have your predicament.

Yeah, although we're experiencing a down year on the bandwagoners at the moment, and I'm not sure if thats good or bad.

1995 World Series (I believe) David Justice made a comment about how much more excited the fans in Atlanta were their first couple of years in the playoffs compared to the most recent few. He said something along the lines of playing the games in Cleveland felt like it used to be in Atlanta, the fans seemed generally excited.

Justice got crucified in Atlanta and even booed when the series returned to Atlanta. The funny thing was Justice was right and it was a very noticeable difference.

I understand where you are coming from, but after growing up with the Braves through the Dale Murphy years there was no way I was turning my back on them just because a few million people wanted to hop on the wagon.

Edit: Found an article in case I get told by a certain somebody that it didn't go down like that:

Look at it this way, would you rather be a doormat each year like we were from the 70s to the 1995 Rose Bowl, or a team that competes for National Titles? I would rather see the team win than get beaten down by UW, USC, or the like every year. When you have that kind of success your gonna get lots of bandwagoners.
                    My Teams:
                    NCAA FB-Oregon Ducks
                    NCAA BB-Gonzaga Bulldogs
                    NBA-Portland Trail Blazers
                    NFL-Carolina Panthers
                    MLB-San Francisco Giants
                    NHL-Los Angeles Kings
Won't change this signature until Oregon wins a national championship (started 3/10/10)

The jerseys breed bandwagoners. Don't want them? Pick a home and away jersey and stick to those.

People love jerseys, and nobody makes jerseys more interesting than Oregon.

If youre leaving your team due to bandwagoners, doesnt that in a way make yourself a bandwagoner?

And you're still wrong, but not like it matters.

Sure the facts of the case are correct - attendance numbers and my own personal observations would agree with you (though it should be noted that Cleveland fans ended up being just like Atlanta fans in the end).

Justice simply said those things to give his team a boost though. He dared the fans to "prove him wrong".

I actually agree with your point and the facts, you've just misrepresented Justice here.

If you can change your team that easily, you never really cared about them that much in the first place. Im a syracuse fan and there is just no way I could ever root for another team like I do with my Orange. I know they are not very good, but its in my blood.
