    Touches Tendencies/Coach Tendencies

Let's put together a good list.

NDAlum had a good idea for the touches tendency:

"Here's what I'm going to do and just call it a day:

All-NBA type player who can put up 30 any given night: 80
All-Star type player who can light it up: 70
    Very solid scoring option: 60
    Quality scoring option: 50
Role player who can score: 45
Role player who takes backseat: 35
    Scrub/D-league: 20

    Let's look at the 76ers
    80: Nobody
    70: Iguodala
    60: Turner, Young
    50: Williams
45: Holiday, Hawes, Brand, Nocioni, Meeks, Speights
    35: Kapono, Brackins, Songaila
    20: Battie, Quinn"

Lets also make sure that as soon as the insiders blog goes up, we bring this to his attention. I'm sure no-one wants to have to adjust this every time an update comes out....

you have to take into consideration each player's style not just if they're a star. the big problem is that most PGs have a low touch tendency so D rose is constantly dumping the ball off etc.

        Re: Touches Tendencies/Coach Tendencies

Of course for 2K11 this is the job. But aren't touches a team attribute, or coach attribute?

They could be set with a screen similar to rotation.

A coach looks at his personnel and style to determine who gets plays (touches) run for them. Then it would be an algorithm similar to rotation for the CPU teams to determine touches by player or position. When a player is hurt, or the roster changes, the CPU team re-calculates touches.

Something ugly I just tried. Hawes, C for Philly rated in the 60's - set touches to 70 for him. In played or simmed games he then scores 30ish PPG.

Just because a player gets touches shouldn't mean he scores. A bad player who takes lots of shots shouldn't become the league leading scorer. But that seems to be happening.

Usage % seems like the best estimator for touches tendency to me.

He also dishes out 4-5 APG. So that has to be balanced with his offense.

In working more with this it seems touches really don't belong as a player attribute, but rather a team setting, something like rotation.

When players move, they carry their touches with them. Would Rose get as many touches on the Heat as he gets on the Bulls? When LeBron, Wade and Bosh get together, their respective touches would change.

It looks like editing touches on many players on a team somehow effects fouls and other stats. It's as if to get fewer touches in sim the player gets into more foul trouble in order to limit touches.

                  On the Bulls:

                  Added 85-86 Jordan
                  Lowered Boozer's touches to 65
                  Raised Rose's touches to 65
                  Jordan's touches is at 99

Boozer's points per game are down, but he's got 5 or 6 fouls in almost half the games.

Oddly, Jordan has fouled out in a few games and has under 20 minutes played in 4 games in the first full month. Those 20 minute games he either had 5 or 6 fouls.

This hasn't happened in other simmed associations. I'll keep simming to see if it's a continuing trend.

What are you're defensive pressure settings set to .. I have been experimenting with touches and shot tendency

I was using the heat and thunder as they have durant, wade, lebron all with 99 shot tendency . Just watching cpu vs cpu without changes first quarter durant had 17 attempts and lebron with his touch and shot both maxed out had 15 ..wade only had 2 ..bosh with 2

Lowered shot tendency and touches on wade, lebron and durant to 80 along with touches to 80 ... bosh to 70/70

                    Next game first quarter

                    Lebron = 2-5
                    Wade = 3-6
                    Bosh = 1-3

And the other heat players got off 8 shots combined

Durant = 1-2 in 3 minutes but went to the bench with 2 quick fouls from trying to keep lebron from the hole

"What are you're defensive pressure settings set to"

                      Default.

With the changes you made it seems LeBron and Durant are taking too few shots.

It has to be checked for multiple games, however.

Sim is easier to check because many seasons can be simmed in a short time.

One place you can find these numbers is basketball-reference.com under the Advanced stats for a player.

It's basically an estimate of how often a player shoots or turns the ball over compared to the rest of the team. One problem it has is it can possibly overvalue scrubs who only play while on the floor with other scrubs, but it works well in the general case.

Just simmed a number of seasons both with touches left at default and touches edited (Boozer to 60, Rose to 70, Jordan remains at 99). The stats for MPG and PPG stay about the same, no significant differences.

2K11 has both touches and shoot tendency.

A player who gets a lot of touches but passes often will have low usage %. In 2K11 he might have a high touches but low shoot tendency.

A player who gets few touches will also have a low usage %. In 2K11 he would have low touches but could have a high shot tendency.

Rose, who scores but also passes, would have a higher touches but maybe then his shoot tendency has to be lowered.

Exactly, also Rose gets 26ppg in sim stats and that seems like a stretch...
